They can create serious fire hazards! Wedged against furniture, the pinched, pierced, bent or otherwise damaged plugs and cords can create serious fire hazards.
Here's a tip: don't damage your power cables.
Plus, the product is basically "Tired of buying extension cords? Buy our extension cord!"

yeah, but with Bluetooth!
-
@jaloopa It was just the clearest pic I could find. There's no way for kids (or even adults) to remove them by hand as EU plugs are recessed.

#3. How wonderful, assuming what applies to the US applies to the whole world. For us Europeans, the proportion of manuals is still well above that of automatics, even with an increasing number of electric cars. And it'll be a few decades before manuals stop being the top transmission type.

There is a world outside USA ?

Just paint a line around the car. You're safe now. (there's a picture in another thread, I'm not searching for it)

Better lighting for who? Having light sensitive eyes, LED lights are fucking cancer. Also, any asshole that has them for headlights, you can all die in a fire.

Actually, not quite. They only removed it from the iPhone but every single other new iProcuct released still comes with it, so they're very bad at killing it off. Apple still has much to learn when it comes to courage.
(And that's todays joke ruined by !)

Or, if in 20 years' time nobody gives a fuck about whatever obsolete plugs existed before. Apart from electricity nerds, who cares that domestic fuse boxes are no longer fuse boxes but circuit breaker?
#14. Because we need to make cirrhosis of the liver easier to get
If they start with bullshit like that so early in the list, no 1 will be "no one will ever die" or some such crap. Hangovers are mostly de-hydration, no amount of tampering with alcohol will change that.
#13. Yes, it's so much more convenient to unlock a phone, hunt for the app, start it, restart it, etc, etc, etc.
That's like the good old "in the year 2000 everyone will commute by plane": take a nice tech and wildly expand on it without thinking about any of the real consequences/limitations.
#12. This one I agree with.
Yep. Same for photos, physical film will be a thing of the past, like glass plate photographies are now.
#11. Good luck powering a kettle or a vacuum from USB.
Mwaahahaha That one is so much bullshit, yes.
#10. Eh... possible, I guess.
Although since we are starting to be aware of the problem, and some fish populations can recover pretty quick (see recent story about North Sea cod (?)), this is probably a bit too pessimistic. On the other hand, fish-on-Friday moved from being almost ubiquitous to being some kind of habit (and isn't that old a tradition that some people want you to believe!), so it may very well die out by itself.
#9. Hackable doors! Just what I've always wanted!
#8. Basic telephony isn't going anywhere anytime soon.Agreed, on both.
#7. This one I can believe.
Yep. The interesting thing will be to see the societal behaviour when smoking rates go low enough that some people will seriously argue for banning it entirely. Which is the direction things are heading to at the moment, but is at odds with the opposite trend of deregulating some other drugs e.g. weed!
#6. This one is a genuine oft-reported issue.
But also one on which many people are working, for the same reason. Not sure how it will turn out, but with the growing understanding of genetics and molecular level effect of drugs, it could be that we don't need that many more new antibiotics. Let's hope so...
#5. 2020 is too soon, but this is coming eventually.
Yes, and the underlying issue here again is a societal one. At which point will it be legal for someone without any kind of license to buy a car and use it alone? I'm guessing quite a long time, for all the legal reasons but not for technical ones.
#4. This I can also believe.
I thought we were going to have USB everywhere?
#3. How wonderful, assuming what applies to the US applies to the whole world. For us Europeans, the proportion of manuals is still well above that of automatics, even with an increasing number of electric cars. And it'll be a few decades before manuals stop being the top transmission type.
However more and more cars, even in Europe, tend to be of the "robotic manual" type (or whatever name each constructor comes up with), which is to say that there is all the hardware to have the box operate automatically. It's almost the norm on high-end cars now, I think, so given how technology tends to trickle down from there to everyday cars (see e.g. AC, reversing radars and all other gizmos), I wouldn't be surprised if all cars are like this at some point.
So yeah, entirely US-centric, but still probably an accurate prediction.
#2. Better lighting for less energy. What's not to like?
Plus, it's not a prediction, it's already the case in many places. Kind of like saying that houses will have double-glazing, at least around here it's the norm for any new build/renovation.
#1. Technically, chocolate is already a luxury food. It just happens to be cheap, too.
And if there is enough incentive, I'm pretty sure that someone will find a way to synthetize all the flavour components and make artificial one (like "fruit flavoured" yoghourts that haven't seen a single shred of fruit).

Yeah, well, that's the thing that I was referring to. Yes, there is a Catholic tradition of no-meat-on-Friday, and some people always ate fish instead (but until the 18th/19th century only a minority of people were rich enough to afford any kind of meat on a regular basis anyway!). But the actual generalization of fish-on-Friday (vs. "no meat") was partly driven by, wait for it, the fishmongers! (I can't find a link for it... but at least in France, I know that 50-60 years ago people didn't necessarily eat fish on Friday, that wasn't the rule)
-

-

fish-on-Friday (vs. "no meat")
People have always worked to get around the no meat on Friday thing, first by saying fish isn't meat then by classifying animals like otters as fish

Why do so many people keep coming up with so many strange new ways to spell simple words like "yogurt"?

Because they haven't yet figured out that the perfect spelling is youhghoughrt, and they're incrementally working up to it.

I recall one of my cousins doing something like this. So I helped fund their trip to Hawaii instead of sending them a mixer or whatever.

@boomzilla if family and friends want to help you pay for your honeymoon, no problem.
You don't need a website for that. That is not "crowdfunding".
