Right song, wrong performance. The one I intended to post doesn't show any people at all (the band or anyone else), and has giant words from the lyrics evaporating into the sky until the last verse when all the letters rain back to earth.

Even if you never heard of either Guilty Gear or Dragon Ball, it's still worth watching just for the technical tricks they've used.

@Tsaukpaetra Good for that guy, but wasn't this supposed to go in the other video thread?

Everything in a single, unified timeline. Awesome stuff.
Things get a little bit hectic following the Cambrian explosion, shockingly. For reference, the most important thing happens at 10:42.

I have been lied to. Twice!

@Tsaukpaetra Chances are it won't happen at 8:01 tomorrow, either.

What was that? I don't see anything particularly significant at that time...

I don't think I've posted this before.

This is a long video so I skipped through it quite a bit, but then it also offers some laughs:

Paging @HardwareGeek
There's a joke in there at 13:20 that when I watched it the first time I laughed so hard that I woke my wife up. You would have to watch the whole video for the mood to be set correctly, and it probably shouldn't have been as funny to me as it was.
Besides the humor, the machine he is tearing apart is really interesting. It's a semi-2.5D CNC milling machine that drives the motion control for all three axes with one motor and a Rube Goldbergian array of electromagnetic clutches and hydraulic axial brakes.
It's pretty fascinating. It's the oldest CNC machine that I think I've ever seen. The runner-up was a sort-of-mostly-fully-3D mill that ran it's programs from a cassette and mostly ran pretty well but occasionally would go in to rapids while milling and just snap endmills like it was doing it just to fuck with you and almost always when in the last 10% of a long milling operation. The likelihood increased exponentially if you had to mill multiple faces and were on the final face.

I laughed at that, but not as much as the new milling machine shoots taking root in the scrap bin.
I tried a bit of amateur blacksmithing today. I tried to turn this
into something like this (just a screenshot, so don't try to play it; it won't work)
but it didn't go exactly as planned.
I'm not sure why it cracked. On the bright side, I didn't try to pick up any red-hot metal with my bare hands.

Says here that the tool is made out of hardened steel , so my guess as an amateur would be that you didn't get it quite hot enough for the hardened layer to become properly malleable again to do proper bending.

The other days I was making preserves and sterilising pots by boiling them for a few minutes. When I got the first one out of the pressure cooker (so still almost boiling), it slipped and started to fall on the work surface and towards the ground.
On the bright side, I didn't try to catch it with my bare hands.

Someone must have paid for this very important message to show up because it was in my suggestions and as of now it's under 10k views.

@Gąska said in Random but Not Dumb Videos Thread:

It over 12k now, so the suggestions are working. It's also amusing how many commenters are adamantly denying having sent him any schematics nudge-nudge-wink-wink.

This is the least amount of sarcasm I have ever seen on any Youtube comment section ever!

I'm pretty sure that I would just grab some cherished belongings and burn my house down with her inside. All "I'm an arsonist" jokes aside, that's disturbing. The worst part is this isn't an isolated incident. There are various documented cases of people finding people squatting in their homes without them knowing and for long periods of time.
-
It appears the creeper video was staged/is a hoax. The guy who posted it is an aspiring actor who now promotes a movie that vaguely follows that storyline as far as I can tell. There's also almost no primary sources that picked up the story.
But stuff like this has happened. Quite a lot.

I always thought "The Hurdy Gurdy" was a joke or euphemism or myth. It's history is pretty fascinating.

This fellow has relatively few subscribers. 84,800ish. But the videos of his that I've watched (or, mostly listened to) have been done really well and seem well researched. I believe that he is British and it is interesting to hear lesser known tales from other countries that I might never have been made aware of.

I was watching another video just now and noticed he had about 1,000 more subscribers. Let's check Social Blade.
Fucking hell. He had ~660 subscribers just a couple of months ago. That's pretty good growth.

@Polygeekery And there's this metal band which prominently features hurdy-gurdy (played by metal ladies, no less).
Very few things get more metal than some contraption that might as well be a Victorian coffin nail cannon.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7WJdkdkwso
Edit: Changed the video, so you can also check out the redhead singer playing the harp.

The technique of the female polygraph agent is amazing. You can tell she is really good at her job and a really good FBI agent.
