@Karla Oh yeah.
The dream was like so: I was playing some sort of Sims-like game, the details aren't very important for the cat part. I had screwed up and was thinking of starting over or doing a new challenge, so I was walking around looking at everything before I quit the world. There was this adorable dog, so I was thinking after I reset I'd try to get the same dog again; I was petting the dog, trying to see how it was put together (coat length and so on) so I could recreate it, when I realize there's this adorable kitten sitting on the dog's back. It looks up at me and mews, and my heart just melted. I was like, I can't reset, this kitten is too adorable. So I'm playing with the kitten and its tail is curled around my ankle and I'm like, "aww, it loves me back!". And then I realize, wait, the kitten's tail is up here, what's around my ankle?
It was.... another kitten's tail! There ended up being about five black kittens, all adorable and mewing. So I'm playing with the kittens, and they're slowly growing up, and I realize my hands hurt. Are they biting me? No, they seem innocent, not perturbed or anything. Maybe I need to trim their claws? So I'm going to check one of their claws, and it opens its mouth to hiss at me, and the tongue was made of four vicious-looking outward-facing hooks forming a sort of tube shape. And then they separated from each other and wiggled around a little before the kitten pulled the whole thing back into its mouth.
So I'm like, gosh darnit, I swear, the half-xenomorph kittens are always the cutest ones. It's like they're specifically designed to be cuter and sweeter to lure you in.
Yes...creepy.
My snake dreams are often me accidentally harming the snake, or there are multiple snakes all over the place, or it bites me and can't get it to stop.
I've had them since I was a kid. As a kid the snake bit my mom's ear off.
Hmm....I wonder do we need a dream thread? Because, I have some more freaky dreams.
I don't have sound in my dreams. At all. Never heard a thing. I just "know" what people are saying, but it's always silent.
-
It's not a major part of mine but there's definitely sound.
One particular time I remember sound in my dream, there was an old sailor playing in instrument. I woke up and the sound was still there. Because some dick was playing bagpipes under my bedroom window.
-

So you didn't like my serenade? I got a fungal infection on my lungs from it.

What kind of enemies do you have? That's the kind of thing someone would do if you had really REALLY insulted their mother or something.
I seem to have recurring dreams that take place at random "expo" events, and I'm always eating in a restaurant or cafeteria while mingling with some colleagues or whatever. And the thing is, I rarely go to these kinds of events, and while I enjoy food, I'm not obsessed with it to the point I should be dreaming about it this much.

Yeah, I would regularly incorporate my alarm into my dreams.
Another recurring theme most of my life (though not recently) is trying to run and screaming from someone and losing my voice so no one could hear my screaming.
I fight a lot in my dreams (defensively) and occasionally my body actually does the punching and kicking. This is actually a sleep disorder:
http://www.sleepeducation.org/sleep-disorders-by-category/parasomnias/rem-sleep-behavior-disorder
My poor husband...this was also ramped up while I was pregnant.
I also sleep walk (not as an adult as far as I know) and talk in my sleep. When it is clear that I am distressed (he often can't determine what I've said) he will rub my head and tell me I am safe until I calm down.
-
Sound is the biggest part of my dreams. Sometimes I even dream in music. The music tells a story and has characters, plotlines, emotion. But once I wake up it quits making sense. I can remember it but can't understand it, like trying to read an EBCDIC text file with ASCII.
Vision is pretty weak. Most times I am borderline blind in my dreams. I don't know why, I have better than 20/20 vision and excellent peripheral vision.
-
Not my dreams but I have a lady friend who, like clockwork, every six months for the past 15 years, tells me she had a dream in which she was having my baby.

Maybe she's hitting on you?
-
My dreams are usually silent, also I tend to die in them 90% of the time. I apparently lucid dream. Something will happen and I'll think (or dream I guess) to myself 'No, that is stupid' and go back and replay the same part of my dream but do things differently.
Maybe my dreams are just a really bad visual novel where I save scum 24/7.

I sometimes get really angry in my dreams, try to shout and scream, but can't get anything out. I think this must be a form of sleep paralysis and I'd otherwise be shouting in my sleep.
This and the more vivid dreams have stopped since I started using my CPAP machine regularly

@Karla If she is, I haven't seen someone fail at something so consistently since Oracle took over updating Java
Maybe she does it to 6 guys, each gets a different month.
-
@Karla If she is she should probably do it when we're on the same side of the continent.
-
So you didn't like my serenade? I got a fungal infection on my lungs from it.
You should switch to the Northumbrian Pipes. They use a bellows operated by your elbow instead of having you blowing in.
-
talk in my sleep
You can have 15-minute conversations with my mother when she's sleeping. Actually, it sometimes takes me while to figure out she's sleeping when that happens, because most of her answers actually make sense.
-

She wants some phone sex
-
She wants some phone sex
I think phone sex with a person you've never actually seen naked might be a bit weird.
-
I had a dream that someone's birthday party was at my house and they hired a caterer that managed to break every appliance they touched. Also I went to my bedroom and my Android smartphone had finished updating to Windows 10.
A few nights ago I had a dream that my basement flooded and my computer was in the stairwell even though there's a wall between there and the monitor (which was still working). Also there were some centipedes the size of a large snake just kind of sitting there.

Isn't that the whole point of phone sex operators? You pretend.

phone sex operators
I should start a business that provides phone LARP operators.
-

Yeah, I really don't understand those. To me, phone sex only makes sense in long-distance relationships.

Me neither, but there is apparently a market for it.

Um yeah...some of them are just bizarre to me.
-
I'm not going to watch that at work.
-
@Karla It's a scene from a sitcom. (Cancelled, unfortunately. It's one of the best sitcoms I have ever seen.) One roommate filmed the other while making jam, and uploaded the videos to a food fetish site.
-
In the last dream that I can remember, lucid me cock-blocked dreaming me by waking me up right when it was getting good, because lucid me knew I was dreaming and didn't want to make a mess in the bed. Then I couldn't get back to the dream.
-
@asdf As praise goes, 'best sitcom I have ever seen' is about equal to 'least offensive Holocaust-denier troll on the Internet'.
-
Yeah, I would regularly incorporate my alarm into my dreams.
I end up looking for a restroom a fair amount. Eventually I realize it's a dream and wake myself up and take care of business.

True. But it was funny enough that I'd actually consider watching it instead of turning of the TV immediately after accidentally stumbling upon it.

Awe crap! And here I thought i infiniscrolled all the way to the bottom to be sure I wasn't duplicating!

@asdf
So you Jam Your Noodle by phone?

As soon as you stop looking down.

are you having the same dream?
-
@Luhmann hmm, let's see... looking for a place to put my pee-pee. Check. Realize I'm dreaming. Check. Wake up. Check. Take care of business. Check...
-
@Luhmann No. Different one.
Also, the one you have in mind is an Operations supervisor these days

Dream wise, I have a recurring thing where I'm hit by a train as I wake up. Generally in places where there should rightfully be no damned trains. In only one case has there actually even been rail tracks, and that was the first time when I was a kid.
Also common is jumping to my death from great height and waking up on landing, usually with a full body reactive "bounce" in bed.
-
Vision is pretty weak. Most times I am borderline blind in my dreams.
I frequently dream that I am too tired to keep my eyes open. In the dream. Also too tired to do anything really.

I have that with bulls, but we did have one rambunctious and occasionally-violent bull back in the day. He must have terrified me more than I consciously realize.
-
For example, I recently had one where a friend was having touching, spiritual moment over her mother's death. There was sad piano music and everything. And just as I'm about to hold her and tell her everything will be fine or whatever, BAM RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVE.
I can even tell you exactly what kind of locomotive, and what railroad! It varies.

But I think that's due to sympathetic responses to real-world suffocation disallowing proper mental function, thus leading to resource contention in Stage, which ends up being implemented as lethargy.
