Giant emoji all the time
-
Things like and related seem to get giant all the time. At least get a :supermario: emoji so it would make sense.
-
Did you try refreshing the page? 🚋
-
@otter I'm guessing it's just the NodeBB server going down. The emoji size is set in an inline style sheet, which I'm assuming is injected by a script... that script failing for any reason (failing to load, or failing to run properly) could result in the stylesheet not being injected.
The NodeBB server going down constantly is a known bug, though.
-
@anotherusername I miss the days were browser cache was something that worked well and you wouldn't even notice this
-
So... I dug into the script and it turns out the styles are fetched through
socket
...If the socket fails to communicate, the styles aren't injected properly.
I agree, it's a bit of a .

This explains why @otter sees this with his dumpster fire of an internet connection and I don't.
I can't understand why someone would decide to do stuff that way. Well, complicator's gloves.

Same here.

Plugin repo is here BTW:
You guys could also discuss it on community.nodebb.org.
-
@anotherusername we could probably shove those styles into the custom.less file.
-
@ben_lubar We could. Would still be good to point out what they're doing and why it sucks.
-
@boomzilla also that

Yeah, we always do that with such professionalism and tact.
-
@anotherusername wtf? Why doesn't the page just fetch the CSS with an XHR and inject it into the page after the bootstrapper and dependency loader are done running, like any other normal web site?
-

At least you can then see what the emoji is supposed to represent, right now it's a
pinkvioletpurple mess.
-
@otter
We really should place those emoji's on a CDN ... and maybe add the avatars while we are at it
-
@Luhmann I would do it just for the lols if I were @ben_lubar
-
@fbmac
Before or after he made that re-post deleted content bot?
-
@Luhmann If there is a bot doing it, he made it invisible to me
-
This post is deleted!

@ben_lubar.... did you accidentally invent the reverse shadowban? cause i'd swear those "FBmacSaidBeforeaHeDeleted" bot posts were visible to everyone......

We use it for the Mafia games.

Yeah, instead of the post being invisible, it has a colorful background.
-
@accalia nah, I searched the source codes
-

the public or the private source codez?
we don't have access to all the codez publically.

huh. must be a whitelist to deal with all fbmac's alts. ping @ben_lubar to get added to the whitelist.
-
@accalia ah. @ben_lubar
-
@accalia although, if the websocket would just consistently stream in new posts, my userscript would take care of it and then I wouldn't need that...
-
@anotherusername said in Giant emoji all the time:
if the websocket would just consistently stream in new posts
it seems to, yes....
have you noticed it failing?
-
@accalia yes, but only because it (my userscript) should capture every post that's streamed in, and cache the @fbmac posts, and I keep seeing new deleted @fbmac posts that weren't captured and cached.
-

Really, because I wasn't quite sure...

you have server access. you have access to all the codez.
we only have access to the codez you put on github, which may or may not be the codez that are on the server.
without server access there's no way to know!
