@Zerosquare do you still have to click "no consent" 700 times, once for each partner, or did they fix that too?
-
@Tsaukpaetra is unsatisfied with his new underwear:
There is no "bag" room anymore....

@Gąska Typically, the default for the EU "Accept choices" is Necessary Cookies only, with all the ad trackers, performance metrics and personal data (login state) turned off. Misbehaving sites ofc wont do that, but most use the same few "consent providers" anyway.

Not quite true IME. There’s usually an “accept all” button, which does accept everything, and a “configure my choices” button, which pops up a stupid list. If you’re lucky, below that list then is some sort of uncheck all button.
They usually list a billion third parties, about half of which they categorize as “legitimate interest”, which default to on. Unlike the “necessary cookies” you usually cannot disable, you can disable those. The fun thing about this is the implication (for any normal thinking person) that the other half of a billion third parties track you with illegitimate interest.IMO, of course, none of their shit is legitimate so I decline all, but browse everything in private browsing mode anyway. Fuck the whole industry.

It's better that it was a few years ago. A lot of European websites nowadays have either a "decline all" button, or turn off everything by default (except basic cookies) when you click the "let me choose" button.

Don't tell him about computers ; @GuyWhoKilledBear doesn't even trust calculators:
The slide rule is there for a reason.

@Zerosquare I think I showed my son how to use one fairly recently (just basic multiplication, because I don't remember much more than that). Other than that, I probably haven't used one in over 40 years. I used one regularly all the way through high school, though. I don't remember whether I ever used one after that; maybe, but "over 40 years" is .
-
@HardwareGeek I've never used one. It was explained to me at some point though, and I could probably derive some formulas using logarithm equalities.
x=a*b log x=log(a*b) =log a+log b
x=a^b log x=log a^b =b log a log log x=log(b log a) =log b+log log a

I'm not quite y enough for a slide rule.
But after Christmas, when my wife gets the necessary equipment to etch glass, I'm going to make myself a case that says "IN CASE OF NETWORK OUTAGE, BREAK GLASS" and put an abacus in it.
