It's a convenience charge for buying them online.
It's convenient for the seller. A website is a lot cheaper then having all those people phone in to buy tickets or have physical selling locations.
It's convenient for both, but businesses will try to maximize their profits, so reducing expenses and increasing revenues are both positive things, from their point of view. They'll only reduce cost to the customer when they expect that they'll pick up enough more customers to increase the revenue stream.

@loopback0 said in WTF Bites:
They're only available online. There's also a £2.50 booking fee per ticket.
Give them time. Soon they'll be as efficient as the phone company and have a fee for processing the fees.

And here I was thinking about punch cards.

I saw your post yesterday on mobile and it looked like plain Nestlé.
Now it makes sense.

Sometimes I hate FOSS developers.
I occasionally use a certain program that can create assets for games, CGI, etc. It would be useful to automate the process of generating large numbers of similar assets. The program exposes a Python API, so simple, right?
The program's forum has repeated questions from people who need to generate hundreds or thousands of assets. The answer to all of them:
Program is a GUI program. It is not intended to be automated. FU
Occasionally someone will try to be helpful and post "there's a CLI fork of Program; maybe it'll do what you need." Unfortunately, the link to the repo is a 404.
But the API, you may say. The only documentation on the API seem to be, RTFSC, and read the source code of the (disappeared) CLI fork for examples of how to use it.
-
@HardwareGeek This is why we need a language that enforces separation between UI and algorithms.

@anonymous234 XAML and C#

We're not all evil fuckwads. Or maybe we are, but some of us are the sorts of evil fuckwads that insist on separating API from GUI. :p

Seems like GhostDoc expects the method to be really, really, really, really, really sure that the type parameter inherits
Exception
.

@Maciejasjmj and they're doing so exceptionally well.

Sounds like what Microsoft said with automating Excel...

@fbmac He's not evil, he's mischievous ;)

@HardwareGeek This is the first time I've ever heard of of a FOSS program being GUI-only. Let me guess, is it Blender?

- create a new blank Google Spreadsheet
- write "test" in any cell
- select the entire cell and copy it
- paste into a youtube comment - only "test" should be visible
- submit
Probably "works" with other sources of formatted text.
<div class="yt-commentbox-text" id="ytcb-text" contenteditable="true" role="textbox" aria-label="Comment or Reply"></div>
Probably poor handling ofcontenteditable
if I had to guess.

this is the sort of pants-on-head fucktardery you can expect from OSS. "Hmm, should we maybe make our programs more usable? Nah, let's just use some shitty 50-year-old interface that makes DOS somehow look futuristic, and bitch when we can't get it working!" Hey freetards, maybe the reason why 99% of the world uses windows is because it's actually FUNCTIONAL? And I just know everyone in this thread is going to pile on me for having the audacity to apply common sense, because God forbid that anything that isn't scary evil M$ have problems of its own. Fuck this forum.

@Tsaukpaetra YouTube has supported basic markdown-style formatting for a long time now (ever since the Google+ integration) - what formatting are you seeing?

News to me. I see bold italics links. But it was never made obvious that's how it was done (no tutorials or "Welcome to
DiscourseGoogle+" style crap. )

In the time it took Sublime Text 2 to perform a search-and-replace with a very simple regex (
[\t\n]
) I was able to start Visual Studio, open the file, and do the search-and-replace. It took Sublime Text 2 like 15 minutes to finish.

@bb36e did anyone else notice that when @blakeyrat disappeared, so did @FrostCat ?

How are companies allowed to sell products that are wrapped in packages of two, yet state that one serving is only one item? The product is packaged in such a way that only having one serving makes the remaining food stale, so they're obviously trying to get people to eat two servings. >:c

they're obviously trying to get people to eat two servings
Or catering for couples ;)

WTF I commented on a comment on YouTube (on YouTube mobile) and how EVERY TIME SOMEONE ELSE COMMENTS I GET A NOTIFICATION! There's apparently no way to turn this off either, because I went to Google+ and "muted" the post and it STILL sends me notifications!!!! (at least I'm not getting the notification from Google+ AND email)
I guess I'm going to have to pull out my laptop and hunt down the thread in Desktop YouTube and see if there's a hidden option there...
-
-
You're a godse--
Fuck!
(the comment notifications link just goes to a page asking me which email I want Google to contact me on, and you know, PII so no screenshot)

@Tsaukpaetra request desktop version? I didn't know they had 'special' mobile versions of the account settings pages. Also that mobile version has options the desktop version doesn't... -_-

Yeah, I did that, which magically rewrote the URL. Then I pasted the original one in and it worked that time.
Hoping it worked...

SPECIAL PRICE
TAKE 6, PAY 5
Price: 6 €
Okay, sure, the individual price could be 1.20 €, but it certainly doesn't read that way.
In particular because the pastries they were announcing cost about 1€, usually less.

Trying to install a QR reader on my Windows tablet.
I've had to try 11 before finding one that worked on desktop Windows. No way to filter apps that don't work on my current platform. And this one's not even reading from the proper camera.
