But TRRWTF is not having that button by default.
That doesn't do the needful for you?

@Tsaukpaetra I don't see that when I'm watching a playlist.

@Tsaukpaetra I don't see that when I'm watching a playlist.
Are you watching a normal playlist of a YouTube Mix playlist?
Also, I think it only appears once you get to the end.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Regular playlist, like the Ebay Valet one from my earlier screenshot. At the end of the video it immediately goes to the next one, and at the end of the playlist I get the normal recommendations.

So.... normal?
Or is the problem that you want the end of the playlist to actually be the end, instead of the site (which is supposed to be a substitute for television, but with user content) automatically moving on to other videos in an effort to provide continuous watching experience?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Most of the time I want it to stop at the end of the current video. Without turning off autoplay it automatically continues to the next one. The end of the playlist is fine as-is, but the rest of the videos aren't at the end.

So.... you want to play a single video from the playlist, but without having any of the functionality of a playlist...
I got it...?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Sometimes the playlist is the only place you can find the video.
I solve this problem by deleting the playlist parameter from the URL, but it's not very practical.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Or I can go to the next video manually. Sometimes I scroll down to the comments (the other RWTF) and don't want what I'm reading to suddenly disappear.

Autoplay is supposed to disable if the video is out of view (specifically for this exact use case). So.... scroll to the comments a few seconds before the end of the video?
Maybe Google broke something...
-
@Tsaukpaetra If it's supposed to do that, it never has for me.

Well I want some time to write a comment after watching each video!

It does for standard videos, but not for playlists.

PRs... Hmm, no they're probably not accepted, are they?

I tried to open some PDFs in LibreOffice to edit them.
About half the pictures are vertically inverted. This happens consistently with PDFs of various different sources.I get that Microsoft™ Office™ formats are obscure and hard to interpret, but PDF is an open standard. There's like half a dozen different open source implementations and they all get it right. Surely determining the orientation of an embedded image is not that hard?
Edit: oh great, and one of the files (which is a whopping 173 kB big) just crashes the whole program when you try to open it.

Seems I do Youtube wrong. I go to it to watch a specific video, usually from a link sent from someone else. I generally don't want to see more videos afterwards, but if I do I look through the related suggestions and click one.

Same here. And often I'll open a few in several tabs (music videos, typically), which doesn't combine well with autoplay. And they've changed something recently so my autoplay (and auto-buffer) addon doesn't always work.
I really wish there were a way to give websites fast, efficient, negative feedback. Like a slap to the face or a withdrawal from their bank account(s) anytime something sufficiently user-unfriendly presents itself like autoplay, pop-ups, pop-up "please sign up for our newsletter" masks, etc.
-
nd often I'll open a few in several tabs (music videos, typically), which doesn't combine well with autoplay.
In my experience, they fixed it so that YouTube videos don't play until the tab is in focus.

So it seems, but that's only marginally better IMO.

YouTube Centre, by any chance? Several things in that are now broken, and the developer has decided that his Real Life should take priority over maintaining a plug-in for random internet peeplez.

Uh...
/me checks
Nope. This one:

I'm looking up MVVM stuff and encountered this on some random tutorial:
One thing to note is that
CanExecute
always returns true. Don’t you just hate it when a button or a menuitem is greyed-out for no apparent reason? Don’t do it! Much better to allow the button to be clicked and then give some informative feedback as to why the intended action cannot be carried out.

Reminds me of the classic "Sure, we do that" Old New Thing

Yeah, YouTube is trying to replace the boobtube.
In fact, if you go to YouTube.com/tv it switches to set-top box mode.

I've been using this for my premium YouTube experience:
-
try { $country = autoDetectCountry(); } catch (Exception $e) { // TODO: add exception handling $country = $countries[0]; }
-
@anonymous234 Strange, because Azerbaijan does not seem to be the first country in any order I can think of:
- The first by English name is Afghanistan,
- The first by ISO-3166-alpha-2 is Andorra (ad), or Ascension Island (ac) if you include exceptionally reserved codes.
- The first by ISO-3166-alpha-3 is Aruba (abw).
- The first by ISO-3166-numeric is Afghanistan (004) again.
- It could be first in Russian (because з (z) is second letter in their alphabet), but the page is not displayed in Russian (nor other Cyrillic-using language).
- I thought using the native name would do that, but it turns out the native name, “Azərbaycan”, is written in Latin script (with some additions), not Cyrillic, so it sorts similar to the English name.
- ???
-
@Bulb So maybe
catch( Exception const& ) { //TODO: add exception handling country = countries[13]; // note: based of Wikipedia's list of countries }
Truly worse than failure.
-
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
-
@Bulb @cvi Using the Office 365 list it's:
catch (Exception $e) { // TODO: add exception handling $country = $countries[8]; }

catch( Exception const& ) { //TODO: add exception handling country = countries[13]; // note: based of Wikipedia's list of countries }

Maybe...
catch( Exception const& ) { //TODO: add exception handling country = "Azerbaijan"; // just pick a wrong country so the user can set it manually. }
-
@anotherusername It beats Youtube, which seems to think I'm in Afghanistan (unlike the rest of the Google empire, which just insists on putting me in another suburb).
-
@dkf Yes. Afghanistan at least actually is alphabetically first. And yes, it it surprising as Google has proven many times they can use GeoIP.
-
@anotherusername It could just pick one randomly, which at least gives it a small chance of being right for anyone outside of Azerbaijan.

@RaceProUK Obviously it's this
catch(){ //TODO: add exception handling country = countries.sort((a,b)=>(a.charCodeAt()>=b.charCodeAt()) && (a.split``.reduce((n,a)=>n+a.charCodeAt(),0)>=b.split``.reduce((n,a)=>n+a.charCodeAt(),0))).shift() }

I pictured them going through the list of countries and picking the first one that sounds made-up and they've never heard of before... because, if you're probably going to be wrong no matter what you select, why not be incredibly, spectacularly wrong?

Determined by fair dart throw.
ah but did you remember to spin the globe at the proper rate before throwing the dart? And did your globe have free biaxial spin?
because if you used a flat map then clearly the dart throw is prejudiced by the projection type used!Mercator Cheaters.
