Psychopath A, Psychopath B, Psychopath C or Bernie Sanders
Bernie isn't a psychopath????
LO.....
LOL...
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...
Trust me, he only says the same things as you. The party that shares the buzzword he is using is fucking insane.
Wants government takeover of all business? Check.
Wants to force people into labor of undesirable jobs to equally share the burden of undesirable jobs? Check.
Never mentions how personal rights interacts with their intended system? Check.
Wants to democratically decide everything (tyranny of the majority)? Check.Oh, I'm sure that they'll either ditch democratically deciding anything, or have false elections, if anyone decides they want to alter the underlying system. (I vote to end this system.... zapped )
Now whether Bernie actually supports that....
I have to defer to the one reason I like the guy.
He's awfully consistent, and he tells the truth.
So, when he says he's a Democratic Socialist, I'm pretty sure he agrees with the party.

@Shoreline said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):
If so, one of your presidential candidates is talking about making the Mexicans build a wall to keep themselves out.
Mexican Pres says Trump isn't welcome in Mexico.
I wonder how they intend to keep Trump out?
- Murder him if he tries to cross.
- Pay for and build a wall.
The first makes them a hypocrite.
The other makes Trump a prophet.LOLOLOL
I don't like Trump. Don't get me wrong.
But it's hilarious how much Trump's presence immediately reveals everyone's hypocrisy.
-
@xaade said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

Deny his visa? I'm confused about what's going on. If a country doesn't want you to come in it just asks you not to and arrests you if you do it anyway. Unless Trump wants to fund a private invasion of Mexico?
-
@AyGeePlus said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

I know right...
That's all it takes.
You just say people can't enter illegally, and they don't, and if they do, you arrest and deport them.
It's that simple.
But don't say that on TV, because if you do, all those people you want to deport are going to riot at your campaign rally....
-
@AyGeePlus said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

Maybe you need one if you want to stay a while, but US citizens can get into Mexico without one. Even when the citizen doesn't command the biggest military in the world.
-
@xaade said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):
It's that simple.
I mean, if you're 11 million people, it's obviously not. If you just want to prevent one person in particular it really is that simple.
-
@boomzilla said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

Presumably that's only true until the point when they decide they're going to kick you out with prejudice. After that point, visa required (and probably difficult to get). Similar sort of principle between the US and EU member states for visa-less short-term travel.
-
@dkf said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

That would be funny. Then tragic. For the Mexicans.

Are you implying Mexico, the country, would have a hard time deporting Donald Trump? Or that something bad-like-a-war would happen if they did?

You mean to tell me, you can't cover enough border to stop 11 million people from crossing at places other than specified checkpoints.
But you can cover enough border to stop ONE PERSON from crossing at places other than specified checkpoints?

No. They don't have to stop him from crossing the border. They just have to deport him when the police sees him.
The US police can't check millions of people that look like they might be Mexicans but the Mexican police can easily check the few guys that look like Trump.
-
@boomzilla said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):
If he were the President at the time? Yes, that wouldn't be good.
In that case, they just fail to extend another invitation while he is President; it's difficult for any President to do a visit without it being a formal visit. If nothing else, the security requirements are next to impossible to meet without permission from the host country; lots of places get extremely antsy about lots of armed foreigners wandering around, and that sort of thing tends to invite a visit by an elite army unit and all the unpleasantness that that would involve. No, virtually any visit will be with a formal invitation so as to avoid that sort of stupidity (and it gives everyone the chance to arrange stupendous banquets of welcome and so on).
If he's not President, he'd just be a private citizen (as he doesn't currently hold any governmental positions). I don't think he'll want to bother with illegally entering a country in that case; it's not really his style.
-
@julmu said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

The US police can't check millions of people that look like they might be Mexicans but the Mexican police can easily check the few guys that look like Trump. So, how do you we stop a few evil people from abusing open borders to duck in, pop a few caps in children, abduct other children, and rape a few more, and then popping across the border?
I don't care about the millions of "innocent" illegal-border-crossers.
I care about the hundreds/thousands who are repeat violent felons, who we simply deport, and then leave border families at risk.
If putting up such a wall also has the side effect of preventing other people from breaking the law of illegally entering the country, I don't care. I'm not interesting in preserving the ability of people to break the law.
-
@dkf said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

That's easy.
You just make the tops of your ramps a sharper angle, so that Obama's tank-car gets stuck on it.

The same way that you would stop the American criminals. Either call the police or shoot them yourself.
-
Ok, you call the police.
- Police chase them to the border. Oops, have to stop.
- Police arrest them, then deport them. They're back tomorrow.
Ok, you shoot them.
- Good luck explaining to all these social justice groups how you didn't use unreasonable force.
Ok, you build a wall.
- Unrelated people don't get access to American welfare safety
netlounge chair. We don't get to use my tax money to solve Mexico's problems.
It's clear to me, the only argument you have against building a wall is that you're totally ok with the impossibility of stopping foreign murderers in favor of handing out opportunities to foreign people who enter the country illegally.
You think you've solve the problem of violent criminals entering the country, only because you don't care to understand the problem. Because, again, you favor handing out opportunities more than actually understanding the problem.
Arizona dared to explain this problem and were called racist and the federal government tried to sue them. All of the unreasonable enforcement of the law they've attempted are because they aren't allowed to secure their border and the federal government won't.
Please, do everyone a favor and research the Mexican border sex slave trade.
Oh, btw, Mexico is already a hypocrite, because they built a wall along the border that was socio-economically disadvantageous for them to leave as an open border. And the Mexico-US border is only open one direction. I dare you to cross illegally into Mexico.
-
Can we jeff this politics shit and get back to talking about hiring and interviewing?
Seriously, why does every fucking thread here end up about Trump, religion, climate or SJW strawmen?
-
@Jaloopa Hilter wants it to.

@xaade Left wing Hitler or Right wing hitler?

@xaade said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

? Why would they be deported instead of going to prison if they committed a serious crime?
Your whole argument is based on a precondition that is completely wrong, unless the US legal system is even more fucked up than I thought. That makes your whole post a steaming pile of FUD bullshit.
-
@asdf said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

Current deportation is massively fucked up. The Executive branch willfully ignores the law and does whatever it feels like in this respect, typically in the name of "prosecutorial discretion."
-
@dkf said in Fuck You, I Quit - Hiring Is Broken (article):

I thought his style was: I want that. I'll get it.
-
@dcon Well he said he'd get the Hispanic vote.... and oh... look.... Hispanics voting for Trump. African-Americans voting for Trump. Women voting for Trump.
Meanwhile 9 year old boys are being told that Trump wants to murder their mom, so they are on the side of the street saying "Fuck You." like they understand the nuances of open border policies.
So, when Trump says he'll get Mexico to pay for the wall, I'm really curious what he has in mind. I mean.... Mexico paid for the other wall on their border to keep out people they felt was worse than their own citizens.
Maybe he'll assist people that enter Mexico illegally....?

Funny, that, considering that the current administration has deported more people (some 2 million) than any previous one.

@boomzilla I'm assuming that was formed after the second Death Star was destroyed, taking Palpatine with it?

Could be. It was a Progressive rag formed long long ago.
-
@boomzilla Yeah, economic situations change, laws change, enforcement policies change. (Also, that chart is inaccurate in that it says that 2000 was Bush era; it was the final Clinton year. But that's a nitpick.)
Thinking about it, it seems that people are more likely to Return willingly when economic times are good. Perhaps it is because when times are harder, they're more willing to be away from their families in order to earn what money they can? There might be other things in it too, but it would seem to be an initial hypothesis.

-
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
why does every fucking thread here end up about Trump
-
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
Trump
Because he's an idiot, and it's easier to target an idiot than remain consistent while campaigning, where you like to tailor your platform to your audience.
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
religion
Because we're biologically inclined to believe in religion.
This could be a side-effect of our brain wanting to be right, or it could be a divine effect. The reason isn't important. The reality is. And there's something about our biology that made this belief reoccurring. If I were to put on some secular lenses for a moment. I'd say it is similar to the reason we don't just leave a person behind when they become disabled. We are social in nature, and therefore there are benefits to doing things that would appear to be contradictory to our survival, but actually end up helping us in the end.
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
climate
Because it's a hot topic.
But seriously. It's because of the politicians, not the science itself.
People get offended when someone goes out of their way to destroy your jobs and lets you know that on national news. Mix that in with the consensus being a smaller subset of the science than the politicians suggest, ridiculously failed predictions, and so on. And BTW, predictions are going to fail ridiculously, climate is complex. It's like trying to estimate what the exact temperature and composition a single spot on the sun will be in 10 years with any degree of accuracy. No, worse than that.
So, people take to the science to argue that, because they can't argue with the idiot politicians. Add to that the fact that they're pissed off at the time, and they're not going to spend much time investigating with an open mind.
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
SJW strawmen
Because SJW is a hashtag that anyone can join, just like any other hashtag. So, you actually do have a few quacks that are saying those exact things. They may be the minority of the group. But SJWs tend to have a habit of doing nothing when it comes to cleaning their own camps, like not even saying when ideas are flat out wrong and flat out lies.
So it becomes unclear as to whether all SJWs follow every insane idea out there, or whether they don't.
Note:
This actually happens with all groups. Feminists, Christians, Muslims, etc. You don't pay much attention to people that use your hashtag to spread stupid ideas because you don't value those ideas, but people outside of your hashtag see the whole thing as one.So, when you have that as a massive bias, the majority group is going to win, ideologically. The minority group may appear to win, but they really aren't. They amount to very small shifts in society.
The question is whether they are net beneficial, these hashtags. They tend to generate a lot of drama for relatively little shift.
I think a lot of people would benefit from not trying to "solve it now", and use appealing rhetoric to convince people over a longer term, than trying to use humiliation tactics. Humiliation tactics only work for a very short duration (about 10 - 15 years) before people get fed up and start ignoring you.
-
@xaade That eloquently fails to explain why a thread about scrambled vs boiled eggs, or the best way to approach an interview, or funny pictures, or a thousand other topics invariably ends up talking about them.
It wouldn't be so bad but it's always the same handful of people with the same arguments and it tends to drown out the interesting conversation that got hijacked.
-
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
eloquently
Thank you.
@Jaloopa said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
fails to explain
It lays the groundwork. It explains why the topics are important to people, and why they form divisions based on it. It explains why, once the hijack occurs, the thread continues to spiral.
To understand why a hijack occurs, keeping in mind all that pent up frustration, what we have here is just a generalization of Godwin's law, but instead of Hitler, it's every current hot topic.
One metaphor or mention of a topic and it spills out. Even if the person was just using a single word and using that word to explain a metaphor or similarity. Then, in someone's opinion the metaphor is wrong because the person just doesn't understand the topic, and a debate sparks. Rather than, I don't know, accepting that he has a different understanding of the topic, when they already understand the metaphor anyway, moving on.

@xaade said in π₯ Build a wall! Make TDWTF Great Again!:
Trump
Because he's an idiot
Give the guy some credit: Managing to look like the most narcissistic asshole walking the earth when the alternative is Ted Cruz is quite an accomplishment. Also, his ability to convince people despite constantly contradicting himself and not making any sense at all is unparalleled.
-
