:fa_bullhorn: The sound of AN ANNOUNCEMENT BEING MADE (or: Request for Comments: Comments)
-
What if you could ignore tags, though?
-
Bbcode quotes are not handled gracefully in the comments. Don't know if you've already said this or if it is a closed_wontfix, but anyway...
-
And I think there's some kind of HTML tag issue, if you look at the quotes with code tags the code tags open but apparently never close....
-
We need a tag then
-
Not granular enough. I enjoy a good flamewar at times, it just depends on the topic.
-
Then we need a guacamole tag
-
Might I suggest a variation on the oddly happy emoticon, just in green? Guacamole should be happy, its a happy food...
-
-
I try not to. I don't want my opinion of avocado based foodstuffs tainted by it...
nocha wanders off towards guacamole
-
Yes, that's annoying, we all agree with that.
On the other hand it solves the case where you enter the thread somewhere (usually via link) and want to move to the first unread. In I never found how to do that.
-
-
Yes. But I'm sure we can either find something out there now as a work around, or one of our more enterprising members can submit a PR to fix it.
looking into what it would take to make that a per user setting....
but it may have to wait until after i have a functional sockbot working on nodebb.....

Also, daylight savings time fucked up the original timestamp, so you might have to do a hard refresh.
-
@abarker can you do me a favor and change where it says
11:00 EST
to say11:00 EDT
? EST doesn't exist on the 19th of March. It's 15:00:00 UTC if there's any confusion. The link is correct.
-
Done.
-
I don't remember clicking away the announcement, but I don't see it anymore. Does it just automatically go away after a while?
-
It's still there for me.
-
Not for me after a full reload.
-
Just did a hard refresh. Still there for me.
-
That's Dish Curse for you…
-
daylight savings time fucked up the original timestamp
Survived Feb 29th, only to be taken out by the common DST bug.
-
That wouldn't have happened if @abarker had just used UTC like every normal person.
-
It is slightly annoying that sometimes the header overlaps the page contents even when I've scrolled as far up as I can. I set up a play instance of my own, and it makes the admin panel unusable on mobile (where it occurs all the time). For non-admins, it "just" means that the "new topic" button is unavailable.
I hope this is fixable by a small CSS poke, but that requires some of us to actually touch the CSS, and I wouldn't want to impose that upon anyone.
-
I noticed that happening when you open the search box at times, too. Suspecting that all it needs is some absolute positioning love, didn't have the time to play with it yet though.

I just copied what @ben_lubar wrote.

Will there be a special badge for making the last Discourse post?
-
Please turn out the lights
-
I'd rather not have people encouraged to make a lot of posts in the next 5 days.
-
Get T-1000 reopened. That'll slow things down a bit.

Fuck you, Jeff. Fuck you.

i'd be willing to chip in a buck or two to send a mug or something to the person who successfully makes the last discourse post....
two mugs if they manage to make a funny with it.

Me too, but considering who's in charge of the migration (and so has access to setting the site in read-only and do an
insert
into the database), the last message will probably be a user's manual for Dwarf Fortress, written in Lojban. Do we want to encourage that?
-
Or a transcript of that 7 hour Dwarf Fortress video. In Lojban. Using innovative MD5 compression techniques.
-

that's a risk i'm willing to take.
Do we want to encourage that?
hmm.... okay, how about we exclude admins and Indeo employees from the candidates for the mugging?
-
-
Weren't we supposed to give the poster something?
-
I'd define the act of "robbing" as "leaving someone with less value than they had before", and it'd definitely count as an attack. So yes, with a brand new @moderator / @morbiuswilters coffee containment device, they will have been mugged.
-
Where did the likes topic end up on the test NodeBB?
I wanted to see how well it worked (or didn't) in NodeBB but can't find it?
-
Probably hidden. I am curious as well
-
The General Discussion category is disabled, but I enabled it and granted read permissions on registered-users and guests because I'm a nice person.
-
Sadly, https://discourse.local.lubar.me/topic/1000 doesn't work.
-
No, I'd assumed it would get a different ID, especially as we're including the CS posts.
-
-
Pity the thread IDs couldn't be preserved; not being t/1000 kinda spoils it a bit
-
What the fuck, Discourse? Why did you onebox that link?
