I'd argue WASD unless it's an FPS and you're left-handed, arrows might work better then.
Maybe on a laptop. The advantage of WASD, ESDF, and IJKL are the number of nearby keys. 'd by a hedgehog, but my point is, I expect a left-handed person would still prefer IJKL or even PL;'.

I did not have the same conventional programming tests that interviewees in the western world have. I did have tests. Some of them were the standard set of questions you would find on the Web. Some of them were literally mindfuck questions with no definitive answer that basically let the interviewer know how I went about solving a problem. But around these parts, Learning the answers to a couple hundred questions by rote would land you a pretty good gig.

I did, because I was curious and because my TV is connected to my PC anyway. The controller works surprisingly well.

Have you tried GameMonkeyScript? I don't have any experience with it, but it looks nice.

It's ok, let them use controllers in multiplayer. More kills for me.

I think the Steam controller is more ergonomic, it doesn't make my hands hurt after a while (as both the Xbox controller and the PS controller do). Also, the pad that simulates a mouse works way better than I though and the buttons on the back are extremely useful. The only thing that annoys me about it is that the A,B,X,Y buttons are a bit too small.
Big picture mode is still buggy as hell, though. Sometimes I have to turn off the controller and restart Steam when I want to switch from one game to another.

That doesn't seem unreasonable, although it's not the only attempt to fix Lua (there's also http://www.squirrel-lang.org, for example). Unfortunately, any time I ever run into Lua (which is depressingly often), it's always in a legacy codebase where there isn't really time to rip it out and replace it, so we're stuck with it.

Are these applications outside the realm of gaming?
In my case, the answer ranges from 'only just' to 'nope'.
What kind of business/domains did they serve?
Mostly games. I did work on one "interactive TV" product which was about 60% Lua 40% C++, but that was such an unmitigated clusterfuck that I barely even want to think about it...

Unless it gives controller users... shiver aim assist.
Actually, I'd heard the Steam controller was supposed to be better for FPS games than a standard controller... but reviews have stated that Valve failed at this goal.
Incidentally, I didn't realize that Borderlands used aim assist even with KB + Mouse until I got irritated at my mouse constantly being drawn to the body section of an enemy when I was trying to use a Sniper Rifle. Once I disabled that, sniping worked a lot better!

Sounds great, but it isn't some kind of amazing step up. It's really nice, absolutely premium. But I don't care enough to get one.
As for the numbered list, I was really surprised that the length of the number doesn't seem to matter.

Any thoughts on xbone elite controller.
I'll probably buy one when/if my current Xbone controller wears out. They don't seem to be as durable as the Xbox 360 controllers, my "day one" controller is virtually-useless because the micro-USB port doesn't hold a cable anymore.
-
I probably would have fared better with an official 360 one instead of one of those Afterglow ones with a 'glow blindingly red' button on the back. Those things had cheap rubber over the thumbsticks, not stuck on, just tight, so when the edge broke, the whole thing went loose and annoying. It also had flimsy shoulder buttons that eventually stopped functioning.
So far, an official XBONE one works great, and has much better build quality. You make me want to see the 360 one.
-
Well my replacement XBone controller's doing ok, but the one that shipped with the console was delicate as hell.

Do what you want. I'm not your boss.
Also I hate wireless controllers. The battery always runs out right when you need it most.

This is why I have an extra one. Or I did before it stopped taking a charge.
I have noticed that games that use XInput on PC are smart enough to open a menu when they notice that the controller has gone away.
-
I avoid the whole battery issue by simply using a wired controller
-
I've never really understood in the first place what problem wireless controllers solved-- so you've added the annoyance of "pairing", and you've saved-- what? Was cord-tangling really a problem for you?
I think back to my Guitar Hero 2 sessions at a previous company, and how the first 5 minutes of every lunch break was making sure every goddamned wireless instrument was paired correctly, then inevitably one would run out of battery a third of the way through the second song.
(Not as confusing as wireless keyboards, though. Where are all these people moving their keyboards around and tangling the cords so that they need to be wireless? My keyboard goes months without moving an inch.)
