Infinite Flamewar

Is it possible for a flamewar to continue forever?
-
Depends on what you feed the fires with...
-
Output from my home built
LHCquantum computer says: Yes, No, Maybe, FRIST_NOT_FOUND.
-
I feel like you are referring to my thread.
But yes, if you have opposing sides with their heads firmly up their ideologies, it is easily possible.
-
I feel like you are referring to my thread.
It feels like it's gone on forever.
Not sure it's quite a flamewar mind.
-
ot sure it's quite a flamewar
You couldn't sear a steak in there, but you could cook a roast.
-
It
seemedseems that way, it reallydiddoes. However, in that thread, one sidewasis clearly correct, while the otherwasis clearly insane.
-
one side
wasis clearly correct, while the otherwasis clearly insane. On the original topic, yes. However, it spawned some other fires, and not all of the same people are on the same sides of those discussions, so who's right and who's insane is a little less clear-cut.
-
So let's say it's necessary that there be no possibility of loss of polarization?
-
Let's just say I'm going to try not to contribute to the polarization there any more. In matters of religion and sexuality, and especially where they meet, there is no compromise for True Believers™ of whatever persuasion. And the bits of troll bait I threw out trying to provoke a serious, though undoubtedly highly polarized, discussion on a related issue weren't drawing any serious bites.
-
Unfortunately it seems that even there, the polarization has started to collapse, they're inches from singing Kum-Ba-Ya in there.
-
-
I just played the white privilege card. It will either troll for 100 posts or do nothing.
Update: Hook, line, and sinker.
-
Um, cool, I guess? I'm not really all that much into trolling, except maybe an occasional one-liner for humor, and I do love me a good sarcasm. I did troll, sort of, in there, but I was really trying to spark a serious debate.
-
Serious debates can reach conclusions, is the problem.
-
Holy crap, that thread's over a thousand posts now? I'm glad I bailed out of it, almost regardless of topic.
-
Hey, we've only just begun. The fox in a bra is about to tell us how much he knows about Norse mythology!
-
2/5 needs more subterfuge
-
I thought so, but he still linked a page about giants when I asked about ice giants, so apparently it worked?
-
how much he knows about Norse mythology
If it's comparable to how much he know about Judeo-Christian mythology1...
- 1myth
- noun
- 1. a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, especially one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature.
- not
- 4. an imaginary or fictitious thing or person.
-
The fox in a bra is about to tell us how much he knows about Norse mythology!
That statement made me laugh until my ribs hurt. Literally.
-
Both definitions work.<Cue flame war
-
Flamewars tend to Peter out after a while. Peter been a retard who knows he's beaten and has fucked off to cry in a corner. How about we argue about something politicy.

Upcoming Polish elections. Discuss.

Which is best? Emacs or vim?

Is it possible for a flamewar to continue forever?
If 4chan didn't have 100 posts per topic limit, it would be.
-
On the original topic, yes. However, it spawned some other fires, and not all of the same people are on the same sides of those discussions, so who's right and who's insane is a little less clear-cut.
Especially that I don't really believe in what I'm arguing for. Probably there are other people in that topic that do the same.
-
Is there a party for keeping the Irish out?
No, but there are like five for keeping the Muslims out.
-
Which is best? Emacs or vim?
Both have their flaws. As for pros, I haven't noticed any in either editor.

Does your country need crazy Republicans? I feel like if more people in the USA knew this, we would have more expatriates.
-
We shoot before asking questions.
Mostly because we don't know their language and they don't know ours.
-
Does your country need crazy Republicans?
Before I answer this question, we need to agree what it means to be Republican. From what I've seen, all the political terms are totally different on each side of the pond.
-

Can you play Skyrim in Vim? No? Then it's not a real operating system.
-
Which is best? Emacs or vim?
This is a good one because both sides are blatantly insane.
-

I am not even certain anymore. Let's get down to brass tracks, can we export Donald Trump to you guys?
-
Mostly because we don't know their language and they don't know ours.
Good thing the UK has restrictive gun laws, or they'd probably genocide us all.
can we export Donald Trump to you guys?
Sorry, we've kinda filled our quota of conservative whackjobs.
-
can we export Donald Trump to you guys?
Only if you take Janusz Korwin-Mikke with you on the way back.
-
Sorry, we've kinda filled our quota of conservative whackjobs.
We are overpopulated with conservative and liberal whackjobs. The DNR needs to hold a special season.

The funny thing is that both of these are right-wing ideologies in Poland.
-
What's on your left wing? Pelicans?
-
Exactly. Except due to political correctness, we have to call them social democrats.
-
both of these are right-wing ideologies in Poland.
Depends on your definition of "liberal". SJW liberal is heavily left, Ayn Rand liberal is heavily right.
-
The word "liberal" comes from the word "liberty", and what SJWs want is as far from liberty as logically possible.

Paging @HardwareGeek to reply with something that starts with "Actually..." and ends with a long explanation of the etymology of the word.
