Then a committee is formed to select a program manager who will select a programmer to initiate a fork to create a module for implementing the functionality and then pass on the code to another programmer selected to write unit test by another program manager selected by the committee to then be pull requested by another programmer selected by a different program manager to follow up with the NodeBB plugin repository management committee to have it listed in the NodeBB plugin repository, after which a petition is made to WTDWTF Admins to clone the new plugin and enable it during the next update.

Preserving a snapshot for posterity:
-
@Tsaukpaetra I know the first one, and it's not Discourse's fault. I experienced the same thing with the Kotlin forum. They've simply misconfigured their OAuth.

misconfigured their OAuth due to Discourse-induced madness
This is Discourse's fault.

Simply. Because OAuth is so easy to configure.

@Tsaukpaetra The Sponge Forums manages it.

I think you'll find that's before ratification.

I really miss title abuse, but fucking hell, it made it difficult to keep track of which thread was which, because the names always fucking changed.
Hence the reason I CSS'd some of the longer running threads that kept changing, like the Likes Thread.

I love how they completely ignore the question.
https://meta.discourse.org/t/account-temporarily-on-hold/95451
: A member of my site just asked why his account was put on hold. He made his account about a day/2 days ago and he posts quite often. Do you know why this happens/how I can disable this? Thanks.
: *Link to detailed explanation of why accounts get put on hold*
: Thanks! Is there a way I can…disable this? Me and my staff effectively take care of actual spam when it appears and I don’t need this aspect.
: CLOSEDHere's the best part:
This topic will be automatically deleted in a day.
So nobody else will be able to find this question, see that it's already been asked, and see the non-answer. Let the echo chamber continue!
Wheeeeeeeee! :-D
...and here comes PieFlavor to explain how awesome Jeff is again...
-
@DoctorJones I saw that topic but I missed the auto deletion

Or really, not unbelievable, unfortunately. But I wish it were.

Wheeeeeeeee! So people can see the actual conversation, here it is for postherity, before it gets deleted.
Note how the question, of how can I disable this (mis)feature?, gets completely ignored, twice.

Edit: Nevermind...

Isn't that the complete opposite of an echo?
-
@PJH I see what you mean, but I was referring to the fact that if you delete a common question, other people will come along and keep asking the same question, because it seemingly hasn't already been asked.
It's peak Jeff.
-
@DoctorJones If only Jeff could put all these questions that are being asked more frequently in some sort of dedicated section for it. But I suppose such advanced methods is beyond the capabilities of us mere mortals.
-
@Atazhaia he's got to finish polishing off the Discourse bug tracker plugin before he can turn his godly gaze over to the Discourse FAQ.

the Discourse FAQ
But, but, but...
Which reminds me, in more amusing news, on another forum I frequent that uses Discourse, and who's denizens are even more acerbic than they are on here, that precise FAQ has been noticed (basically because it's totally unsuitable, as it was here):
Understated as always, the admin replies..
-
@PJH Maybe we should put the Discourse FAQ along with the admin reply into the Garage to remind everyone there about how to do civilized discourse.
Please treat this discussion forum with the same respect as you would a public park.
Ok! urinates in the nearest bush, then starts playing loud music on a portable speaker and scribbles something rude on a bench

Oh, but you see, ALL bug trackers automatically delete the bug 1 day after it is closed.
-
@PJH said in How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread):
on another forum I frequent
tt-rss.org
"Tiny Tiny RSS is a free and open source web-based news feed (RSS/Atom) reader"
oh hi we're explicitly making a tiny, tight, lightweight program that's used exclusively to aggregate content in the smallest, fastest format possible-- and give end users the most freedom and flexibility on how to consume that simple, standards-compliant formatted feed.
now we need a forum to talk about this software
I know-- LET'S CHOSE THE MOST USER-HOSTILE, BLOATED, DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN, RESOURCE-EATING, UNSUPPORTED, DOING-IT-WRONG, PIECE OF SHIT WE CAN FIND! IT'LL BE THE ABSOLUTE DIAMETRIC OPPOSITE OF OUR WHOLE PHILOSOPHY WON'T THAT BE GREAT?

-
@Lorne-Kates said in How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread):

I think you misinterpreted tt-rss philosophy. The way the author deal with users is a perfect match for Discourse:
the only reason my stuff is available in source form is so other competent people could maybe help me improve it. i give zero fucks about leeches like you and your “community” and its values.
-
@PJH
Francing wrong again ... I just went behind the bush

@Lorne-Kates said in How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread):

"Where we don't suffer fools gladly"
I know. But the audience is small. Audience is expected to at least have a passing knowledge of what 'cli' means. It's not a support forum for learning how to set up a webserver.
Previous incarnation was some ancient version of something like phpbb. No idea why he changed it to start with.
This is starting to be a candidate for jeffing...
