On the local newspaper Facebook page, people seemed more bothered about the quality of the paper bag or cardboard box that used to contain the sex toys.
Yes, because a higher-quality bag would not have been lost!

I guess. They only have 1 good comic a month, no need to check more often than that.

Wait, hold up, humans are publicly defecating in order to obtain a little flag?
Probably not. It's Missouri, not California.
What a astounding world we live in...
But...yes.

It's for https://forums.xkcd.com. The forums haven't been linked from the main page in ages, and since the password incident have been unavailable. No idea how active they have been, haven't visited in years.

The only objection I have to the article is that the author seems to assume that Baltimore should have paid the ransom.

I suppose the actual organism is really surprising, but the description just makes no sense. It might have a head, but it definitely lacks a heel, which caused it to fall on said head.

I was wondering why Ubuntu was freaking out about that CVE, because of the CVE description I thought it was one of these "you can run things as root only when you could already run things as root" exploits, or as
Raymond ChenFord Prefect put it "It rather involved being on the other side of this airtight hatchway"why wasn't this description in the CVE report? it would only have taken another paragraph to explain it to someone who doesn't know the SUDOERS file format by heart.......

they still have a population (and population density) larger than most can imagine.
Isn't most of that on the coastline, along the eastern and south-eastern edges of the country? AFAIK, the interior and the western and northern sides are mostly sparsely populated, but for a slightly higher density of farmlands along the rivers.
-
@djls45 Which just makes the population density even higher in the actually dense areas.

Surprise Elementary School
Who names these things?
Though this incident is in El Mirage, the elementary school in question is just south of the city limits of Surprise. Regarding Surprise, Wikipedia says:
The city was founded in 1938 by Flora Mae Statler, who named it Surprise as she "would be surprised if the town ever amounted to much".

@topspin 'Paris zoo unveils well-understood organism, dumb reuters reporter doesn't try very hard.'
Seriously, you can buy 'the blob' from science supply stores for 14.70 USD. Most 'mysterious' organisms cost more than a delivery pizza. You can even do math with one. As of five years ago.
Wait until I tell them about 'tall horses'
And 720 sexes isn't even that many for a fungus(calling them 'sexes' is basically a lie. It's so close to completely false you'd need a scalpel to pull them apart. Fungi are weird and behave weirdly. More news at 11.).
