"No, this is not true," the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, said when Business Insider asked the White House for comment.
Why would you do a publicity stunt if you're going to deny it afterwards?

Eh. Conservatives will claim liberals have their brain shut down, liberals will say to cure your conservatives, same old.

@flabdablet They found we can fix @boomzilla with magnets! Maybe it won't take long for them to invent a cure.

@hungrier Facial recognition can be defeated by a photo of a face it recognises? I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!
...
I probably shouldn't be holding these exposed wires

@RaceProUK IIRC, they added a "life check" to the face unlock feature that required you to blink, but I guess Samsung didn't like that for their new version.

Meh. Even if they did, it could probably be unlocked with a video...
-
@anotherusername Yeah, I just googled it and it doesn't even need video to bypass, just editing the photo and flipping between the two.
-
Something like 6-7 years ago, I had an Alienware laptop that used facial recognition to log in at the Windows login screen.
A friend of mine immediately thought "oh look, someone could bypass this with a photo." So he took a picture of my face on his phone and held it up to the camera. The facial recognition widget indicated that it recognized there was a face there, but it never unlocked no matter what he did with the picture or how he held the phone.
I had a good laugh at that. Now I'm sad that the technology seems to be moving backwards...

The screen was probably too reflective

@anotherusername Aren't there eye trackers that use the eyes' reflection to invisible light for tracking?
Couldn't something similar be used to distinguish between live eyes and recorded eyes?

I wouldn't want to send my kids to schools where the security guards were untrained -- or worse, badly-trained -- imbeciles.
-
@anotherusername If I had kids, I wouldn't want to send them to a school where conditions were such that police on campus were necessary in the first place!

@masonwheeler Better move out of the US then.

@hungrier I remember once a coworker put some facial recognition stuff to test, and we bypassed it easily with our badge low res photos.

I'm not even a little surprised. For two years now I've had an Amazon subscription to water. Local store that used to carry Hint lime-flavored water quit selling it so I went online; now every two months they send me a case and charge my credit card.

Which is being counted: the number of humans who own one or more of these animals, or the number of animals owned? If someone owns as many cats as the typical fish-owner owns fish, they're usually branded "crazy" and the SPCA is called.
