For archaeologists, sure. For geologists, not so much.

Imagine calling birds ancient.
Polynesia, the parrot from the original Dr Dolittle story, was 199 years old. That's ancient enough for me.

being able to enforce the penalties requires that the court be able to actually get ahold of the person or their property.
that is totally irrelevant to the decision if a court has jurisdiction or not. They could have jurisdiction over the crime if it was performed within their bailiwick, but not over the perpetrator of that crime, if the criminal is a foreigner in foreign lands.
Jurisdiction can mean the extent of legal authority within the law or the extent of authority over a geographic/political region. I think we're using separate meanings.
Jurisdiction includes both aspects. For instance a state court may have subject matter jurisdiction but not personal jurisdiction if it's against a person of another state (or I guess country). A case like that would likely (if jurisdiction is opposed by a party) be moved to regional federal court. IANAL so I may be a bit off on the terminology. Deciding jurisdiction is its own ball of mud within the legal system.

The artist's depiction in the autobox looks a whole lot like a salamander to me.
But they also said:
However, this fish likely didn't walk on its fins. There are too many small bones there, meaning that the fish had a lot of flexibility in the "finger" region, but these fingers weren't optimal for bearing weight on land. "Most likely, Elpistostege was swimming, but it could have stood on its pectoral fins on the bottom of shallow estuarine and fluvial water," Cloutier said.
So if it is a fish, then it's not really that different from a modern catfish, which can hardly be called a transitional form.

I wonder how Stadia is doing. Oh... it isn't? Alright then
IOW, it was found that "optimizing" bandwidth by 25% also had a curious side effect of optimizing their operating costs by a roughly similar amount, all else being equal. Imperceptible, I'm sure. Like YIFY.

@PleegWat No, the ads will stream at 4k 120 fps before dropping back down to 320p for your video. And to help fight COVID-19, they'll be unskippable. Enjoy!

Interestingly, I've been seeing things about "Youtube going SD only" for at least a week. And I'm still getting 1080p60. Of course the definition of SD may have changed since I last checked.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if they switched to a better compression algorithm with slight quality reduction for significant bandwidth reduction. But
to check.

@PleegWat It was claimed to be SD by default but I'm also still seeing HD as the default. 1080 on my desktop, 1440 on my laptop.

Then it's worse. They're being seen apparently having done something rather grand, but haven't actually managed to do so.
Kind of like those large Notre Dame donations that if church bigwigs are to be believed must have become lost on their way to the restoration effort coffers.

We're probably atypical anyway. After all, there's all this talk going around about people being bored locked up at home, but I'm still pulling my 40 hours via VPN. And then there's the real heroes working overtime in healthcare.

They probably mean "we don't stream this garbage at 8K anymore, so that's basically SD". Although I guess the ads are the only content in that resolution anyway.

Probably discussed elsewhere before.
If they can just infringe copyright with immunity, why are they presumably spending many millions on software license fees for MS et al.?

I don't think that's quite copyright infringement, but... they can always claim they are using a version of the software which looks a lot like the original but which the state developed.

Okay, before someone accuses me of piling on a clickbaity title:
However, experts were quick to point out that it is not a new virus — and has only rarely thought to have been passed between humans.
“The Hantavirus first emerged in 1950s in the American-Korean war in Korea (Hantan river). It spreads from rat/mice if humans ingest their body fluids. Human-human transmission is rare,” Swedish scientist Dr. Sumaiya Shaikh tweeted.
“Please do not panic, unless you plan to eat rats,” she stressed.
-
@Zecc I'd think it's rare to get it from eating them. More likely something was contaminated by urine or feces.

What's really moronic about it though is that the vast majority of YT streams never cross the internet at large but come from huge caching servers at the ISPs. If the ISPs have a problem with the bandwidth to their clients, they could just throttle their respective caches.

I am actually working more. Since I'm not spending 2hrs in traffic. And I'm logging in to the work computer a little earlier than I would normally leave for work. (Still logging out when I would leave work!)

The boss added Friday mornings to the schedule for as long as we are working from home. Our normal schedule is 7-4:30 Mon-Thur, with 30 minute lunches. The 4 extra hours are from our time on Friday morning.
