Ha! No, but seriously, P-values are super over abused.

@MrL Nothing wrong with gamepads, unless they get bricked with a firmware update and require an old version of Chrome OS to fix
They are fantastic for some things, I bought an X-Box controller just so I could play A Hat in Time properly. They are garbage for FPSs, which is why console players got slaughtered when they went up against PC players.

@Cursorkeys I think anyone who plays competitive games is not in the market for any of these "stream your input across the internet and then stream back 4k video" type solutions even if they offered mouse and keyboard

I guess I buttumed that would be a big target with them talking about 4k, short match-based multiplayer. Spending 8 hours in an RPG/MMO is going to eat data-caps.

@Cursorkeys
The only non-keyboard-mouse controller I use is Guitar Hero... well, guitar (although I have one made from keyboard too). Console controllers though? Trash. I have one and use it to start Guitar Hero, it's fucking painful even navigating the menus.

Normally I'd say that this is destined to be garage material, but frankly, I think it's too big a deal to just post it in what may or may not be an echo chamber.
Friday's call to prayers for Muslims in New Zealand will be broadcast nationally on TV and radio and there will be a two minute silence on Friday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced.
The call to prayer, of course, is in Arabic, and just for reference, here is the English translation, according to Wikipedia:
God is the greatest.
I acknowledge that there is no deity but God.
I acknowledge that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.
I testify that Ali is the viceregent (wali) of God.
Hasten to the prayer (Salah).
Hasten to the salvation.
Prayer is better than sleep.
God is greatest.
There is no deity but God.edit for context: New Zealand does not have an official state religion or church, but it also does not have the same kind of separation of church and state that the US has. Historically, Catholicism and Anglicism have been the predominant faiths, followed closely by Protestantism and various other flavors of Christianity, but there have been moves to make things more inclusive of other religions, such as in 2017 removing a reference to Jesus Christ from its Parliament's opening prayer. In the 2013 census, the Islamic faith was held by 1.18% of the population, and that value has been rising. source
Any further discussion on the subject should probably be preemptively jeffed to the garage. You can help by posting it there and not here. Thanks.

It is actually closer than you think:
-
From TFA:
aim assist
aim assist
aim assist
aim assist
aim assist
“I would love to play in another PC tournament,” he said. “But I doubt they will allow controllers again. I still think the PC players had better aim than me, the reason we did well is because we had better teamwork and titan control.”
-
I had Shadowrun (the FPS) for both PC and Xbox 360, and they were cross-compatible for LAN play. If you played on Xbox (or on PC with an Xbox controller) you had a fair amount of aim assist that tended to snap your reticle onto enemy targets. But if you played with a keyboard/mouse on PC, you had the exact opposite. As you moved the mouse, your reticle just kind of slid around with unpredictable amounts of inertia that made precision aiming very difficult. It was supposed to give the Xboxen players a fair chance, but all it did was piss the PC players off into using an Xbox controller and pretending their PC was an Xbox with much better graphics.

Not really, when the AI is aiming for you.
No I didn't read the article, I doubt I have to go confirm my beliefs.

Best of both worlds: I use a Xim device to emulate a controller with my keyboard and mouse.

I know there are specific times of the day that Muslims are required to pray. One of them might be when they would otherwise be inclined to be asleep. ( to look up those times.)
If that's not it, perhaps the intent is to express that prayer is more refreshing, at least spiritually, than sleep.

Well, if you put everything on a public billboard, it's also hard to prove afterwards that someone specific has read it. Claiming that
no one hasthere are no signs anyone has is still pretty bold.Time for the GDPR bat?

"Local News. For Local People."
A petition was handed in to Wirral Council on Monday night urging BT to remove the 25ft pole, which was put in place in New Brighton earlier this month.
It was erected directly outside Field Road resident Sally Griffiths’ front gate recently, who said she could hardly sleep because of it, and is even considering moving.

If you weren't already aware, you'd probably be surprised at just how many outright fake invoices companies will receive. Accounts payable has to be on its toes to verify each before cutting a check, or you'll very easily get scammed.

But it took $100 million of fake invoices to FB and Google for them to catch on. I guess when they're backing the money trucks up to your mansion, you don't worry too much about the nickels and dimes.
-
@jinpa Yeah, exactly. A large company often isn't going to waste much time scrutinizing an invoice for a couple of thousands of dollars. They probably spend that much on Post-Its in a week. And when the scammer knows that they've got you once, they'll probably be a repeat customer, so to speak. It adds up.

@TimeBandit There does not seem to be any mention of an observer contributing to the resolution at the reliable source, but the aircraft did indeed complete one flight between replacement of the left AoA vane and the accident flight, in which the problem occurred and was resolved by the crew. It was also logged, but because the maintenance manual didn't link the symptoms to a possible common cause, the maintenance only did some unrelated checks and fixes.
Update: Ok, now there is mention of a dead-heading pilot being present in cockpit as observer. The claim it was him who correctly identified the issue and suggested fix is, however, presented as unverified (‘media reported’ implies nobody actually involved in the investigation confirmed it).
