I think you misread him. He said that most people never eat pumpkin except when they have pumpkin pie. Other vegetables weren't implicated in the statement.
I didn't misread, it's just that roast pumpkin is pretty much a standard with roast meat here (along with potatoes, and a variety of other vegetables) and that would be the most common way for it to be eaten here. So I wondered how it's done there.
When I do a roast I generally do roasted potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots, and onions, and a cauliflower and broccoli au gratin. Plus some broccoli boiled on the side, and some carrots left raw, for the kids who won't eat any of the above, and corn. I'd do beans if the fussy kids would eat them, but they won't, and the rest of us have enough veggies already :)

Another name for your blacklist: Epson
At this stage, are there any inkjet manufacturers who don't try to cripple competitor or refilled cartidges?
Some good quotes from Cory Doctorow in the article.
"Inkjet printers are the trailblazers of terrible technology business-models, patient zero in an epidemic of insisting that we all arrange our affairs to benefit corporate shareholders, at our own expense.”
"Infosec may be a dumpster-fire, but that doesn't mean Epson should pour gasoline on it."

Sometimes you can take re-enactment too far. For me, that point comes when you don't actively try to make your re-enactment weapons significantly less dangerous than the original models.

yeah, that's completely unheard of here. Although, when you say pumpkin, do you happen to mean something other than actual pumpkin? In the US it's a bit confusing because "pumpkin" pie actually isn't made with pumpkin, but with a variety of butternut squash (which is then called "pie pumpkin" even though it's not pumpkin). It can be made with real pumpkin (more commonly seen as the Jack-o-lantern), but that's less tasty apparently. Butternut squash is a fairly sweet and nutty squash and does tend to be a more common culinary choice than pumpkin, which tends to be more bland and watery.
-
@anotherusername Oh! You use butternut squash instead of actual pumpkin in pumpkin pie? That actually makes sense, as butternut squash is one of the nicer squashes. (We tend to only use it as part of a dish of roasted vegetables at home, but that implies nothing for anyone else.)
-

Well, it's more confusing now, because we have "butternut pumpkin" which I assume is the same as your butternut squash; here it's considered to be one variety of pumpkin (Kent pumpkin is the other main one I remember seeing, I don't really pay much attention to pumpkin varieties while shopping though)...
Is this whole thing going to be another "English speaking countries using different names for things, and the same name for different things" issue?
Looks like it, at least in part... Wikipedia:
Butternut squash, sometimes known in Australia and New Zealand as butternut pumpkin or gramma[...]
In Australia, it is regarded as a pumpkin, and is used interchangeably with other types of pumpkin. In New Zealand and Australian English, the term pumpkin generally refers to the broader category called winter squash elsewhere.
We'd use any type of pumpkin / winter squash (delete as appropriate) for roasting, but I do tend to go for butternuts as they're a more convenient size when only three of your family will eat them. And I'm the only one in my family who likes pumpkin pie, too, so I can't really use the excess for that, at least not very often. Though lately I've tried making it into pumpkin scones and that's been received better.
"Squash" here generally only refers to what is apparently more precisely called "button squash" or "pattypan squash".

Well, yes and no. The term "pumpkin" is not strictly defined, so it can be used for a number of winter squash varieties (spanning several different species), meaning that it is not strictly wrong to say that pumpkin pie is made out of pumpkin. However, it is not pumpkin in the sense that we imagine pumpkins as being the round orange squash that we carve for Jack-O-lanterns.
The cultivar we think of as pumpkin is a variety of Cucurbita pepo, while the one used in pumpkin pie filling is a variety of Cucurbita moschata. Butternut squash is also a variety of the latter. With plants, though, the species alone is not enough to really identify a vegetable; there can be so much variation within a single species that we have different common names for the different varieties even of the same exact species. For example, the species Brassica oleracea, which is a wild cabbage, has been bred into the varieties kale, collard, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts, and kohlrabi. All of those common names are simply different cultivars of the Brassica oleracea species. So it's not strictly accurate to say that pumpkin pie is made out of butternut squash -- it is, though, more closely related to butternut squash than it is to your Jack-O-lantern.

@anotherusername plant genetics are messy. To the level that our normal notions of "species" just plain doesn't work for them. Wheat, for example, is a mutant aberration/lovechild of three different species. But it works.

I'm not so sure about that. Cheating in online games is basically computer fraud, in this case causing financial loss. I haven't heard whether Rockstar Games or any other company that runs online game servers have a responsible disclosure policy. Even so they could have reported the exploits or gone public. Now, searching homes is a disproportionate measure, but why not really? It is a criminal offense.
I've no pity for these clowns.

TIL.
I'm not particularly fond of either. I find the aroma of fresh pumpkin (as in carving Jack-o-lanterns) quite unpleasant. I don't dislike pumpkin (or "pumpkin") pie quite so much, but I'll generally have only a thin sliver topped with abundant whipped cream.

Selling software that circumvents security measures in other software is a criminal act. Now, whether or not that law should be applicable to aimbots and other cheats might be debatable. But we can all agree that despicable cheaters are Literal Hitler.

If it's an online game, then it requires access to a server somewhere -- a computer system that you do not own. If the game's terms of service say that you're not allowed to use third-party or unauthorized tools to gain an unfair advantage in the game, then you are explicitly denied the right to access that server if you're using such cheating programs. If you nevertheless do, then you are "hacking" per se -- you are making unauthorized access to a computer system. Furthermore, using tools which circumvent otherwise effective security measures designed to prevent unauthorized access (including access by clients which are running unauthorized cheats) is also illegal.

A shoplifter has been arrested after she stole a coat from Primark on her way to court.
Darlene Mullen from Perth, Scotland, was wearing the stolen jacket when she arrived at court to be sentenced for other shoplifting charges.
The 26-year-old was caught on camera asking staff at the court to help her remove the security tag from the coat.
There was already an alert out for her after she was spotted leaving Primark and her bright red wellies made it pretty easy for the police to identify her

Not true. Yesterday I found myself staring at the displays of adult diapers in Sam's Club (the bench near the restroom where I was forced to wait happened to face them square-on). What struck me was that the smaller the diaper, the more of them there were in the box, and the lower the case price.
I want to say they get you coming and going, but I'd really rather minimize the wordplay here.
