@anotherusername You shouldn't have even said that. Anonymous means anonymous. Don't dox people, it's a dick thing to do.
I knew it because he admitted to it. He linked to the article and said he's "glad I told my truth". How's that doxxing?
edit: this one is an even clearer statement:

Does doxing include exposing additional online info? I guess I always thought it meant exposing an online persona's real life info (phone number, address, workplace, etc).
All that aside, I agree with your point.
I would say that exposing an anonymous source without that source's permission would be a dick move, yes. But in this case it didn't apply because the source has already outed themselves. (And since he's no longer working for Riot, or even in the game industry, he felt safe in doing so.)

@mikehurley You're not going to convince me that anotherusername wasn't being a dick while posting that.
I wasn't trying to. The end of my comment agreed with you about that.
Maybe doxxing isn't the correct term
That's all I was talking about. Or really wondering about.

that's my first line of defense! The second is that the ignition will not crank if the door is closed. Stops literally everyone!

^ ^ this. Was somewhat easy to install as the driver-door switch runs parallel to the wiring for the clutch-is-fully-depressed switch in my exact model, so with some careful clevering the clutch can now only be considered "depressed" if the door happens to be open.

The downside is that, if you're on cruise-control and press the clutch, the cruise-control won't disengage

I has no cruise control. :P
Actually, didn't know that was a thing TBH, I didn't use cruise control even on the vehicles I've driven that did have it.

I've had it in rental vehicles before and loved it on long drives, especially hilly drives.
I'd love to have it on my personal vehicle (and had an opportunity recently having needed a new one), but I presume it requires me spending more than 15k or so for a car. I'm a cheapskate.

Well shit, mine was $16k. Guess we need to add another few k to get that button upgrade...

@Tsaukpaetra I lurve me some cruise control. I set it to the speed limit.

@Tsaukpaetra I lurve me some cruise control. I set it to the speed limit.
I set it to Speed limit +3(ish, depending on the car) because I know what the exact calibration margin on my speedometer is. In the digital era, they're basically all calibrated to read somewhat high for a few reasons:
- Liability reduction (don't need your customers suing you over speeding tickets)
- To allow for a bit of variation in tire outside diameter. Not enough to allow a bigger overall size, but there is an amount of variation between brands and tread types
- Inertia from the mechanical era, where the vagaries of only being able to have whole number tooth counts on various gears meant you were never going to hit it exactly, so you aimed high-but-close for the liability reason.

I always wondered why, after 45mph it started to become more and more inaccurate.

Some good choices made there.
Here's the local Mat Newman's take on the system:
Computer & Network Consultants’s David Alonge, who is responsible for programming and maintaining all of the Police Department’s Lotus Notes applications, told The Sun that the software is “working wonderfully for the police.” He said it runs so smoothly that it isn’t necessary to bring in someone else to help manage it.
“They'd do nothing all day long,” he said.
Alonge disagreed with the assertion that Lotus Notes databases exist in silos. Dozens of them “talk to each other” throughout the day, he said.

I like this bit:
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies doesn’t tell agencies which software to use.
“We’re vendor agnostic,” said executive director W. Craig Hartley Jr.
But when asked about Lotus Notes, Hartley remarked: “I haven't heard that word in a long time.
And for good reason.

We've yet to get that far. Here in Wales/Scotland/New Zealand* we're still culturally appropriating piñatas

A suicidal ground mechanic stole a Q400:
Very sad he felt he had to do that, but he managed a sort-of barrel roll in the thing which is quite impressive in a large turboprop:

@Cursorkeys So that's why I got an alert last night from the SEATac radio channel.... That explains a few things.
-
Lau also accused his neighbors of installing illegal metal hangers and drying racks on the external wall facing his flat, where they would hang wet clothes and place yellow and red bras on them.
Citing feng shui guidelines from the internet and books, Lau said many men consider a woman's underwear to carry bad luck because of the vaginal discharge during menstruation.
The guidelines suggested that spirit tablets should not be placed facing the underwear and bras to prevent bad luck.
On shoes, the guidelines said they should not be placed near the entrance of a flat and are best to be stored inside cabinets - otherwise, people living in the flat might fall sick.

A self-propelled horse trailer. So basically the unholy union of a mobile home and a horse trailer. Like

Looks like a combination of a box-truck and a horse trailer, thus the name I suppose.
I've never seen one in the US. Horses are transported in trailers towed by pickup trucks.
Of course the better question is: why is it pink?
EDIT: the actual one from the article:

I'd guess the big difference is that in the US, pickup trucks are quite common. From what I understand, they're not so common in Europe (most of that niche is filled by cargo vans of some stripe or another) and so towing capacity is very limited.
-

Right; but it's not like there's some mysterious force-field that envelops Europe and if a pickup truck enters it it dissolves into magical butterflies, right?
And if you own horses, wouldn't that be a pretty good reason to buy one? Even if you don't need it for the horse trailer, it's handy for things like: their feed, the equipment needed to re-shoe one, etc.

Not if you have a horsebox
