Wonder what this will do to the divorce rate …

"I got a weird virus and ended up on a dating site" is a bit better than "I used a dating a site and ended up with a weird virus".

The two most popular sites are free with extra fees for advanced features (AKA freemium).
I've used a couple freemium sites and a couple paid sites, and ironically, the freemium sites tended to be better because they didn't put silly limitations on the number of matches you could view per day. I'm tempted to try serious big-bucks matchmaking, but the cynic in me thinks it may simply prove to be a more efficient means of extracting money.

send messages to members of the opposite sex, where around 1/10 or 1/20 of messages sent actually get a response and lead to a conversation
Only if you're a guy. As a girl, AIUI, you trawl through dick pictures, "hi how r u" and other bullshit for the occasional message from someone who isn't a complete moron

They actually get plenty of those, but usually ignore them unless they like the attached thumbnail picture.

I've been out of the loop for a while now, but back when I was checking out the so-called "social networking sites", for guys it was a toss-up between "9525th ditz who likes parties, dance music and cute boys" and "Jesus, has she made a bet that she can alienate everybody in 5 paragraphs or less?"
It was a good while ago though, and the age group might have had a bit to do with it, but by God if there was one place where you could learn to be a hateful misanthrope...

My father navigates to Google that way, by typing 'Google' in the quick search bar (set to Google) on his browser.
Call me an idiot, but when I want to use Google Image Search, I do exactly this. Of course I always forget to delete the suggestion, and since I use Google a lot, I have tons of them - current top is google.pl/search?client=opera&q=life+is+strange&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8.
-
If you used DuckDuckGo as your standard serach, you could just type
!i
in the address bar ...
-
Not if I want to search with image.

Searching by image with your avatar told me that it looks visually similar to anal beads.

Some people are just born with it.

The single people would be on the site to date married people. All parties are guilty.
You have problems with people who lie about having STDs at all, and those marriages can get annulment. Annulment being a non divorce separation because the context of the consent was lied about.
Cheating affects the context of consent, it damages the non-cheating spouse.
If someone is using the site to date singles, that's doing it wrong.

Man I just had a mental vision of a dating site ran by Jeff *shudder*
Pof.com recently (within the last 1-2 years) added a rule that no one could send messages to anyone if there was more than a 14-year age difference. The stated rationale was that anyone messaging people with a large age difference couldn't possibly be looking for a relationship and that pof wasn't a hookup site.
-
Nah, Jeff just would have coldmapped the people based on age difference.
-
Or put up a toaster when you clicked the "send message" button.

pof wasn't a hookup site.
lol.
My father and his wife have been married for what, 14 years now, they have a 15 year gap between them. They seem to enjoy themselves. If someone is using the site to date singles, that's doing it wrong
If it's stupid and it works, it's not stupid. The single people would be on the site to date married people.
All praise xaade, the all-knowing.It takes two to tango, rarely is a marriage just a failure on one part.

I know a couple with a 20 year gap. They've been married for around 10 years.

One has to wonder what spurred the change on PoF's part. Complaints?
-
Rumor has it that the change was spurred by the founder's new SO.
-
There's always a market for limiting the competition.

There are no red flags when someone chooses a site made for cheating, in order to meet unmarried singles?
I can't imagine that two singles finding each other would be anything other than incidental, when there are countless other options for meeting singles.
Would it raise a reg flag if someone was on a site to find a hooker, and said they were there just to find someone to marry.
It takes two to tango, rarely is a marriage just a failure on one part.
Then get divorced first. Don't secretly date.
If you already filed for divorce, and the other party refuses, then I could see looking online to be ok. But don't do it with your spouse thinking everything's gravy between you. That's not ethical at all.
I guess I'm saying that people that are there for reasons other than cheating or dating someone who is cheating, are just collateral damage for being stupid.

Generally (at least in the US) that would only work if the partner with the STI had the STI prior to the marriage and failed to disclose it. If the other partner then discovered the STI after the marriage, then there may be a case for an annulment. In a situation where the STI is contracted after the marriage is performed, most states would consider it evidence of adultery, which is grounds for divorce, but not an annulment.

I was in a hurry to get back to work, as lunch was over.
How 'bout this, though?
Also, how do you manage to get such common words spellared, but get "non sequitur" right, except for the missing space?

Looks like it may have finally leaked...
Update, 11:52 p.m. ET: I’ve now spoken with three vouched sources who all have reported finding their information and last four digits of their credit card numbers in the leaked database. Also, it occurs to me that it’s been almost exactly 30 days since the original hack. Finally, all of the accounts created at Bugmenot.com for Ashleymadison.com prior to the original breach appear to be in the leaked data set as well. I’m sure there are millions of AshleyMadison users who wish it weren’t so, but there is every indication this dump is the real deal.

Just in case anyone wants to see if they will be outed. ;)
