@Tsaukpaetra I think we have seen this before in an otter video.
Yes, but it's nice to be reminded.

It would seem they're even worse equipped for swimming than cats.
As I understand practically all mammals can swim, though for a long time they were uncertain about giraffes.
Their legs don't extend? More lies my father told me!

@kazitor Naturally.
-
@pie_flavor Suppose I should explain…
There are two main groups of pterosaurs: the older "rhamphoryhnchids" which share multiple features with rhamphorhynchus, primarily the long tail with a paddle/vane on the end. The other group is the "pterodactyloids", which descended from the rhamphorhynchids. They have short tails as well as a bunch of other features.
IMO, pterodactyloids are invariably quite ugly, while the rhamphorhynchids are occasionally cute. So when a pterosaur is cute, it's "naturally" a rhamphorhynchid.
So now you know, and Knowing Is Half the Battle.

*scribbles a few notes* I see... And tell me your thoughts on erinaceidae....
-
@kazitor Do you have kids? Only kids know this much about dinosaurs.
-
@topspin I'm not talking about dinosaurs.
(you're on the right track though…)

I was hoping to dash you with a counter-example, but it turns out that my candidate, although it has a short tail, is actually a rhamphorhynchoid. I can only conclude that the criterion actually is cuteness.
But really I'm just looking for an excuse to post Anurognathus:
