What colour is this dress?
-
-
Skin colored.
I'm just checking if that's a hate crime now.
-
Creepy-colored? Kanye-colored?
-
Well, it's a face, so black that was bleached?
-
Face coloured.
-
Zachary Quinto coloured.

Oh great, now we get the dumb twitter memes.
-
I'm combining two of the memes here. I'm double-memeing you.
-
What no llamas? Post that gif I put up there a few hours ago, that's funny at least.

We should merge that thread with the Likes thread. Are cross-site topic merges possible yet?

On Twitter, it looks like this is in reference to something, but I can't figure out what.
-
Try googling the title of the thread.

So that's what all the fuss is about? A shit photo of a dress?
-
A daring synthesis of memes!

Supposedly some people see that as blue and gold and others as
white and blackblue and black. And it's today's xkcd.Edit: OK, according to the reddit thread about this, it's supposed to be blue and black or gold and white. Whatever.

It's blue and gold, at least in that light. Anyone who sees it as black and white I'd say is likely partially colour-blind.
-
You know, I have seen this picture like 15 times today and I still haven't seen anyone who claimed to see it as white.
I think this is all one big meta-prank, like when 4chan made that fake "charge your iPhone 6 in your microwave" picture and other people pretended to be teenage girls that had fallen for it, and news reported the story, but nobody had actually fallen for it yet.
-
I can't see it as white but I can see how a shitty smartphone camera in the wrong angle can make it appear as white.
I thought it was light blue / turquoise and brown at first. Now I can sorta tell the color is gold? Only if I look at the top part where the light hits the dress.
It's still a dumb trick that got popular for god knows what reason.
-
-
Is this like asking what letter is your name spelled with?
-
...Clearly blue and brownish-gold.... WTF blue and black?
-
Basically, some people are viewing the image with fucked up brightness/contrast, and claiming it's blue and black, when really, they're just idiots who don't know how to set up a monitor.
-
Depending on your screen contrast, brighthess and viewing angle (stupid low end LCDs) all dark colors can look black.
[CURSES, HANZO'D AGAIN!]
-
I guess, but like, when I saw Wired re-balance the color I'm going "is that what people are claiming to see? That's totally different."
Can't things be blue and gold?
-
I think today the internet discovered that light can alter the color of things.
-
-
I don't know why I got a notification on this topic, but it's timely because I just saw today's XKCD and was going to ask TDWTF what it's supposed to be about because I certainly don't get it.

I looked at that, and when I look at one, the colors on the other look brighter or lighter. But if I focus in the middle, I could see that they were the same. I thought that was what he was talking about. I went to Facebook to make fun of a friend who would have made a good entry on the "hurt myself" thread, and I saw that shit all over and realized it was stupider than I thought.
-
I first saw white and gold, but now I clearly see black and blue.
-
(about the XKCD)
Well, it's one of those optical illusions. The background can affect the perceived color of something in the foreground.
-
-
Right, but there's a difference between, "This is a little darker," and "This is a totally different color."

I see gold and blue, so what does that make me?
