Apparently it’s a trend on TikTok. Those crazy kids, whatever next?
That’s hilarious. Hilariously stupid, but at least not dangerous.
If they do it for 30 seconds as “recommended” sure, but if they keep doing it for longer, the risks of localised skin cancers will go up and that’s not a region you want that in.
I don't understand, why are we not encouraging tiktokers to do this?

Pointless. They can't get cancer. They already are cancer.

Today I wish I hadn't learned about perineum sunning.
this time I won't make the mistake of trying to find out what it is
-
In case you care but don't want to hit Google
The perineum is the bit of skin between the anus and whatever genitals are at the front. Sunning is the act of exposing this to sunlight for 'health' reasons.

Also known as the Goodge. Funnily enough I worked near Goodge Street station for a while.

@Arantor I don't worry about google, but it felt less nopey to read that than whatever the internet could show me for that, thanks

Take the correct perspective: with a tiktok proof of sun shine at your asshole, the brown area there is a beautiful sun tan.
Only is not amused.

At the risk of learning, is that what it sounds like? And if so, why?

Edit: I'll just link at my source. This might not even be the most interesting one.
Edit 2: self-moderated from the Wordle thread because I was a sleepy idiot last night. My apologies if, in retrospect, this caused any navigation issues to anyone. If this happens again, next time I'll delete and re-post instead.

Status: Adding the name Increase to the long, long list of things I hate Americans for. Not sure what I hate more - that anyone would think naming their son Increase was a good idea, or the reasoning behind that name.
-
@Gustav There was a tendency among certain pre-20th century religious groups (of the more puritan persuasion, but not just them) in English-speaking countries to use whole phrases from the Bible as names (often shortened for use outside of religious settings).

I’ve never heard of it, but you’re singling out that name? Out of all the retarded names Americans come up with?
I mean, even if you ignore edge cases like naming his offspring things like 𝕏-but-in-hieroglyphs.

https://insiderockstarnorth.blogspot.com/2023/11/why-does-moon-change-size-when-you.html
It's a short post, I might as well quote it here:
The artists gave me a texture for the moon in III. I placed the moon in the sky, made sure it was visible at night and that it was a reasonable size.
A few days later 4 artists were at my desk asking me to change the size of the moon.
"No problem" I said.
It turned out they couldn't decide what the size of the moon should be. 2 of them wanted it smaller to be more realistic. The other 2 wanted it larger to be more cinematic.
This went on a bit and I suggested to make the size of the moon changeable in the game. This way they could decide in their own time and let me know the conclusion. Since I was working on the sniper rifle, I made it so that the moon toggled through 3 sizes (small, medium, large) as the player sniped it.
The artists never got back to me so I just left it in. It was still there in SA.
-
@Zecc said in TIL (about the Dark Arts of HTML):
so I just left it in
I liked it when world edit used the humble Stick to do most operations. I wonder if that's still the default....

R* has asked the developer to remove the blog
-
This is the most tragic and impactful assassination ever committed on November 22
-
@hungrier yeah, I knew it had been asked, didn’t know he’d already closed it, but my finger isn’t exactly on the pulse as such.
-
@Arantor FFS.
Glad I quoted the whole thing in my post then.
-
@Zecc I’m friends with some ex DMA Design (now R* North) folks on Discord, suggestion it was the legal team and or Take 2 rather than anyone who actually understood anything.
Edit: wasn’t legal team in the end: https://twitter.com/ObbeVermeij/status/1727731811541745848
-
I took the blog down because it seemed to annoy my old colleagues at Rockstar North.
That's not a good reason to remove it, but it's a good reason to leave the post there

I think it's cool that they can rename themselves to anything, but how they deal with it? Like, you sign a contract then move to another city and change your name, how they find you?
It's cool that Simpsons episode that he Homer change his name to Maximum Power or something, and everyone treat him better

Today learning about bat sexytimes.
In the serotine bat, we observed a disproportionately large penis characterized by a heart-shape terminal swelling. The organ constituted approximately 22% of the animal’s head–body length during erection. With the erect organ seven times longer and wider than the vagina, its possible function becomes a perplexing question. Indeed, intromission might not be feasible. Instead, the motile and erect penis may be used to pass the protective tail membrane of the female to reach the vulva. However, under such conditions, the penis could not penetrate the vagina, resulting in ‘contact mating’ as the only option.

To be fair and open, this is something that is actually relevant in memory as I'm reading a story about a bat and his mate, and the subject of intercourse was casually mentioned. I might leave an enlightened comment now that perhaps the lucky gal won't need to worry too much after all.

TIL the word Eierlegendewollmilchsau - German for "expectations of the hiring manager".

@Gustav jokes about German compound words aside, I’d write the expression as two words, an adjective and a noun. The noun is still a compound word, of course. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eierlegende_Wollmilchsau

@topspin I think Firefox's translation is confused...
-
@loopback0 how did it end up with clean instead of pig or sow?
-
@topspin the translation engine added the final
ber
(sau
=>sauber
=clean
) which was missed during copy-paste?
Maybe we will find the mistake the otherway round soon: translatingsauber
as if it was a compound ofSau
(pig
,sow
) andBär
(bear
)...
-
-
@topspin What is that, some kind of half-bear-half-pig-man?
-
@hungrier That is... was Al Gore, prior to his transformation into ManBearPig.
-
@hungrier It looks more like a half-pig, half-man-bear.

TIL that you can cut things with a piece of paper and a rotatory tool

What is that thing being cut?
It looks to me like cardboard product packaging, so basically another piece of (heavy) paper, possibly with a plastic coating.
Also, note that the "saw blade" isn't very durable. Even before it fails completely at the end, it's wearing away fairly quickly.
-
Just make sure you dedicate 90% of its life to cutting a replacement, then you can dedicate every tenth piece to other cutting!
