I click a lot too ... and sometimes I finger stuff ...

@Polygeekery You follow the sociopath CEO stereotype so tightly I'm convinced you're not a real person, but a character someone created to troll the forum. Maybe you're the same guy behind blakey or @fox.

aren't you boomzilla too?

@Luhmann I'm everyone, the password for this account is 1234

Would you rather I stand out front with a sign decrying CAFO's? Ain't nobody got time for that.

liar. that password is too short. i can tell, just by looking at the pixels
-
@accalia For a moment I thought I've posted that with the wrong account

why would you say that?

If that was the case ... just deleting that post would have solved the issue ... no?
-
@Polygeekery Could raise them on free range
-
@otter Why do you hate poor people?
-
@Polygeekery their meat is a bit hard to chew, stick with pigs
-
@Polygeekery is it turning into another of those flamewars were anything I say that doesn't match the conservative's opinion gets downvoted?
Maybe we should move it to another thread then.
-
@otter I love a good cannibalism joke as much as the next person. More than the next person, probably.
Anyway, don't talk about intensive farming. It's deeply complicated and very interesting and most people don't know the details so just shoot their mouth off.
Edit: Don't talk about it because I assume you're ignorant, don't talk about it here because someone's ignorant and children's fun fact science corner is hard to do around here. On account of all the dickheads. ( like me )
For example:
Fact: intensive farming is inhumane
complication: Pigs are dicks, who cares
complication 2: Its inhumanity is not a reason to stop doing it
complication 3: It's bringing about the apocalypse due to subtherapeutic doses of antibiotics
Fact: Growth promotion through antibiotics, especially in pigs and chickens(immune system reasons), will kill us all eventually
complication: Except not really, there are ionophores that would work great and can't be used as therapeutic antibiotics anyway
double complication: Cross-resistance blah blah monitoring blah blah engineered microbiomes blah blah blahI could go on but I won't. Habitat loss blah blah aquaculture blah blah shrimp blah blah mangroves blah blah triploid oysters blah blah
-
@AyGeePlus If you took a plane and pass over my state, you'll see that a huge part of our land is all cattle being raised in free range. We don't have this stuff with cattle here, so I don't see a why rich americans need to pack animals like that.
-
@otter Something something population growth something urban poor something extensive versus intensive something something land prices something america.
It's a numbers game. It costs X to raise a buncha cows in a field and Y to raise them in a barn, and based on current interest rates/land prices/ feed prices/ taxes on antibiotics/regulations/other complicated shit X>Y right now.
-
@AyGeePlus Eating meat is a luxury anyway. I would rather not eat meat than eat an animal that was raised like that.
-
@otter unfortunately you are in the minority.
Something something american broiler chickens just don't taste very good something something chicken breast is the hitler of meats something something beef is just bland. Contrast bison for what animal flesh is supposed to taste like.
However, Americans prefer a chicken in every pot to a delicious soup in every pot, so this is what we have now.
-
@AyGeePlus Around here, pot alone seems to suffice for most people.

Maybe if you would stop trying to eat the next person they would appreciate cannibalism more

You need to learn how to automate stuff.
That's why you're not management material...
-
@Polygeekery i love those things!
i have one in the back of my laptop dock at work to keep it from going to sleep on me when i'm at my desk working on the desktop, but allowing it to sleep when it's off the dock or at home.
well, it's the M3, but still., basically same thing, just smaller.

To be fair, it's mostly drawing boxes in order to post screenshots here.

Yay /. memes!
It's like it's 1999 again. And I like it.

@lolwhat I fucking love that scene.
-
@lolwhat My personal style is a little closer to this though:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=366DExfdQWM
Obviously though...I am not as cool as Jeremy Irons.
-
@lolwhat Apparently this video is blocked in the US.
-
@Magus It plays for me.
-
@Polygeekery I wish it did, because I enjoyed the one you linked, but:
EDIT: Hold on, I bet google thinks I'm in India again...
EDIT2: And I can't find a way to tell it otherwise. THANKS CORPORATE.
-
@Magus Found another source I guess...
-
@Polygeekery said in Ask the entrepreneurs advice:

Me too, and I'm in the Colonies.
-
@Magus If you've never watched 'Margin Call', you should. It is an excellent movie.
-
@Polygeekery Nothing beats Network:

YOU HAVE MEDDLED WITH THE PRIMAL FORCES OF NATURE!
Why me?
Because you're on television, dummy.
I think I have seen the face of God!
You just might be right, Mr. Beale.

The clip you posted was good and the cast that I saw there was...awesome, of course.
-
@boomzilla It may be one of the best movies that no one has ever heard of. I don't think I have ever found a person who has seen it without my prompting first.
-
@blakeyrat said in Ask the entrepreneurs advice:

I won't argue with you on that one. It is an amazingly good movie.
-
@Polygeekery said in Ask the entrepreneurs advice:

Yeah...I don't recall hearing about it before seeing it here.
-
@boomzilla IIRC, I found it when I was looking for some other Kevin Spacey movie I could not remember the name of in his filmography. I saw it, looked it up, watched it, loved it.
-
@Polygeekery It's amazing how many movies get made that you never hear about.
-
@boomzilla Since I'm a cable-cutter for years, and movie productions tend to (for some goddamned reason) only advertise on TV, there's tons of movies I never find out about.
-
@blakeyrat Probably the same thing for me. I did not realize there was a new Star Trek movie out until someone mentioned it tonight.
I certainly hope they ditched all the silly lens flares.
-
@blakeyrat Yeah, but even so. Margin Call.
Budget: $3,500,000 (estimated)
Opening Weekend: $561,904 (USA) (21 October 2011)
Gross: $5,354,039 (USA) (17 February 2012)In the fucking cast:
- Kevin Spacey
- Jeremy Irons
- Demi Moore
- Stanley Tucci
WTF! These are all awesome names to have in a movie. How does it fly under the radar! I mean...OK, it's not a blockbuster action / comedy or whatever, but there are a lot of other names there that people will recognize, too...those are just the sorts of people who could headline something.
And this sort of movie seems to happen all the time. Slips through the cracks somehow.
Edit: Ay ay ay...lots of edits....there was tequila involved, OK?
-
@boomzilla It's amazing how the Chinese ticket sales always makes up for shitty movies that do awful in the US.
A movie has to be TRULY shitty to fail both in the US and international.
-
@boomzilla Hmmmm, tequila.

Yeah, I found out about the new movie yesterday when my dad was like, "Hey we should totally go to the new Star Trek movie" and I double-took.

I think I'll probably go next weekend. It's invoncenient this one.
-
@Polygeekery said in Ask the entrepreneurs advice:

Yeah, they cut way back on the second one. Don't worry, there's probably plenty of other things to annoy you!
See it anyway, like I said in another topic, unless you hated the first two. Occupy yourself with looking for callbacks and stuff.
