The thread of movie titles and absence of badges. In previous episodes, it was signs you're getting older, chiropractic vs. medicine, atheism vs. Mormonism and religion vs. science with no existentialism nor philosophy thrown in

Don't drag me into this... ;)
You'll be fine
Especially if you get a pair of sturdy ear defenders ;)
-
why not? i'm an equal opportunity nibbler.
Wait, how are you in this??
I just don't want to be over-dosed on vite-mins by animated robot hedgehogs...
I am so confused right now
-
Wait, how are you in this??
it's a fairly long running... is it still a joke if it's true?
anyway it's a long running joke that i like to nibble ears. mostly it's a back and forth banter between myself and @RaceProUK but it does have a tendency to spill over onto other people.
;-)
it's all good i promise and i always receive prior consent before engaging in nibbling.
-
Just be careful: two nibbles make a byte, which might be seen as going against your word...
-

It's not the cyborg hedgehogs you need to worry about, it's the cyborg foxes like @accalia ;)Anyway, I don't nibble ears; only food goes into my mouth. Except occasionally receipts, money, and car park tickets. But then that's only to hold between the lips, as I haven't installed a third-arm attachment. <Yet...

We need a icon, just for jokes like this...
-
-
True, it would just be better if it were a drumset or something. For extra annoyance points, it should play the tune.

i think that's the first time anyone has used that particular joke on me....

That'd be an emoji that would embed a<video>
maybe?... not sure if that's possible with the current implementation. In lieu, just use this:

Sorry, I thought the cycle time on it made it eligible again.
Getting on topic again (gasp!): does anyone else remember when you used the unit 'mickey' to refer to the distance in milimeters you have to move your mouse before the pointer moves one pixel on the screen?
-
Sorry, I thought the cycle time on it made it eligible again.
well as far as i'm aware there is no cycle so i don';t see how it could be inelliegable.
it'll take another occurrence for it to be a cycle.

Sign you are getting older (SYAGO): small-animal paranoia....
My dog is looking at me... like she knows.

My dog is looking at me... like she knows.
Keep an eye on her; if she starts summoning green murder cubes, run!

You can't remember things that never existed.
-
Hmm... LMGTFY
...so there!

I have never heard of this. Maybe it's something that you oldies did.
-
Maybe it's something that you oldies did.
Maybe it is a Swedish thing? Like eating rotten fish and gross, salty candy?
-
Yeah, this is the first I've heard of it. Difficult to say if I qualify as one of @loopback0's oldies, though.
-
Yeah. They're pretty strange.
-
Yeah, this is the first I've heard of it.
I had never even heard of the concept, nor can I guess why that is a thing? Who cares how far you need to move the mouse to move one pixel on the screen? You just need to move the cursor.
Am I the only one who is sometimes amazed at the things or concepts that even have a name?
-
I qualify as one of @loopback0's oldies, though.
It's (jokingly, obviously) defined as older than me. So born before 1986.
-

No, I can see why you'd be interested in such a thing. Especially if you were involved in developing mice or the drivers for them. And mickey is an obvious nickname to pick. I've just never heard about it.
-
And mickey is an obvious nickname to pick.
It took me longer than it should have to figure this out.
-
It took me longer than it should have to figure this out.
I just now figured it out as I read your post...
Especially if you were involved in developing mice or the drivers for them.
I get it, but first thought is always, "Why the hell would you need to define that?"

Yes, but you have to think that before you think, "Oh, yeah, because....blah blah blah whatever"
-
Older than me is, give or take an hour or so, literally before 1986.
-
good year that. before or after june?
I hit four home runs that year. Probably before June.
-

No, wait...none that year. Was the following year. Welp, guess this is the right thread for that sort of thing.

High school? College? If you say high school, I am going to draw parallels between you and Ed Bundy.

hmm... just over six months too late then. :-(
-
people who eat a half-ass balanced diet and take vitamins quite literally piss out the vitamins unutilized. Your body only uses what it needs. The rest gets excreted.
That's only half true. Your body will excrete the excess water soluble vitamins.
I wish it were possible to get people to understand the concept of "saturation" here. If I take 100mg of whatchacallene and excrete 10mg in my urine, it does not mean that my body only needs 90mg of the stuff, because if you take 200mg you'll find you excrete say 60mg, which implies that you need 140mg. You have to keep adding until the amount you excrete increases by the same amount as your intake dosage; that's when you've established how much whatchacallene your body can use.
Failure to grasp this concept is how the RDA for vitamin C got set at a ludicrous 60mg when most people would benefit from taking at least ten to twenty times that much.
-

Little League. But do go on. Ed Bundy is teh awesome. Especially in his new show with that hot Mexican wife.

-
The multi vitamins I take tend to provide (on the vitamins it's safe to) provide like 800% RDA on most of them.
Has the amusing benefit of 'neon' piss for the first trip of the day thanks to the B riboflavin.
-
1985?! Pfft.
I was born 2 weeks late specifically to avoid it.

Aah. One (trys) to learn something new everyday.
SYAGO: hopefully learning is outpacing forgetting.
Poll: You can't forget Her/Him...
O Good!
O Bad

So... was that the year you were suspended for PHP?

1985 was better
huh.... i could have sworn i was older than you....
never been good at telling age. i would have pegged @boomzilla for about my age, or younger. but not old enough to be in little league when i was born.
-
I have never heard of this. Maybe it's something that you oldies did.
Believe I am more decrepit than most all here, nope, never, ever heard of this.
-
I have a brother younger than you.

that's something at least.

/me has trouble resisting asking if he's cute
I thought he was cute when he was a baby. I think his wife regards him as good looking. FYI, he was a football team captain (he was the center, which you don't see many of those as captains) and she was the lead (or whatever it was called) cheerleader in high school.
-

Despite me mentioning in another thread that I'm almost 30?Anyway, just went to Wikipedia, and it turns out I was born the day Hezbollah was founded

ah. spoken for then.

if you did i don't remember it.
do you remember what that thread was?
