Poll: Should The Daily WTF get a .wtf domain?
-
Continuing the discussion from will thedailywtf get a .wtf domain?:
I noticed .wtf domain names are available since spring this year.
See http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/program-status/delegated-strings
Id be interested in wheter theDailywtf is planning to register such a domain name and what others think of the idea.
Im not sure what the new domain could be - thedaily.wtf for example - that would make a fine poll.- Yes

- Where we're going, we won't need .wtf

Going strong ... 6 votes and none sensible ...
-
Did you expect anything else here?
-
I broke the non-sensible streak by voting yes.

If there's a site which could use this TLD is this one.
-
-
You got me all confused here. Is this real?
Filed Under: is discodaily.wtf still free? Then we would get updates within 39 hours of one another
-
Yeah - .wtf is a real TLD.
Also:
-
no, I understand that .wtf is a real TLD now. I wasn't sure if you faked your screenshots.
Filed Under: discourse.wtf sounds like a good addition to discourse.org
-
Oh, no, that's the domain checker at www.1and1.co.uk
-
All right, I'll stick my neck out...
:guillotine:
What is the .wtf domain "supposed" to be for?
Is any .abc domain name vaild? (how about .unicodeunicodeunicode?)
Filed under: wanted :guillotine: could only find
ok, I can actually understand that one...

When a guillotine is not available, you have to resort to an axe.

No, one of "theses":

I definitely liked tdemsyr.wtf

The .wtf domain (and the rest of our glorious new TLD overlords) came about because the good
kidsfolks at ICANN realized they were too late to thebitconcryptographic currency party, and needed another way to pay forhookers & blowcollege. So, cue the TLDgold rushexpansion to provide improved, more personalized service.

Oh! A relevant answer!! ;)
I guess you're confirming what I thought which is that, except for the meaningful ones already assigned (countries, .com, etc..) the new TLDs are basically a free-for-all?
-
There's a lot of rabbit hole in that particular discussion. But a decent "end user friendly" summary of the theory behind it is: http://mashable.com/2011/06/20/new-gtld-faq/

There's a lot of rabbit hole in that particular discussion.
Which is basically why I've left myself largely ignorant on the issue...
I know what you're thinking... :stop: uhuh, don't go there!
-
Well real WTFs need .wtf - its not about sense, but maybe cosmetic - i.e things the world doesnt need but which are cool
-
More importantly: when will we start seeing java packages named "wtf.something.something"?
-
Sounds ideally suited for Hibernate…
