I fed this into Google Translate, but couldn't figure out anything. I even tried adding spaces at various places, but it still wouldn't produce anything legible. Could you explain what it means for those of us who know no Polish?

Since his name starts with Mac, I tried cutting that out. The "did you mean" suggestions got an accent, and I ended up with
koz bogdańca -> Goat man
so Mac Goat Man
Is this close @Maciejasjmj?

@boomzilla Macko z Bogdanca is apparently a fictional character from a Polish novel who shares Maciej's first name.
From google translate - seems to mostly make sense. Except for "Jagienka's economy", hehe.
Maćko from Bogdaniec - a fictional character from the novel by Krzysztof H. Sienkiewicz; Knight, uncle and guard Zbyszko, dreaming of rebuilding a family estate in Bogdaniec.
He fought at Grunwald with Zbyszek at his side. He killed Kunon von Liechtenstein, who earlier nearly killed Zbyszko. He was strong, broad-shouldered, strong. He always wanted Zbyszko to marry Jagienka because he admired her beauty, economy and good heart.
The man was bearded, in the power of age, knobby, almost huge, but thin; His hair was wrapped in a pinwheel, that is, a grid sewn with beads; He had a leather bucket with strips pressed through the armor, a belt on it, all of a copper buckle; Behind the knife belt in the horn scabbard, with a short travel cord on the side [1].
Maćko from Bogdaniec sealed the arms of Tępa Podkowa, and the family call was "Grady".
In the 1960 film the Teutonic Knights play Maciek from Bogdaniec by Aleksander Fogiel.

That sounds a lot like it belongs in a Dwarf Fortress description.

@Jaloopa Wow...that guy has a voice made for print.

Aaah!
Bamboozled again!

I've never gotten an email from SurveyMonkey that wasn't from a spammer.
Also, I've never posted on any Android-related StackOverflow page: https://stackoverflow.com/users/2664560/benlubar
-
Hmmm....a new approach to downvoting?
Rent Men dot Com, you say?
-
What is the point of these abusive spam messages? Are they hoping people retaliate and they get lists of active email addresses?
-
@Jaloopa That's my assumption. Clicking unusual links may not be working so well and sending email is relatively safe so maybe more people are probably willing to respond.

he'd like to do my problems with magic help!!

No, Ms Trace, stole all the investments from my deceased surname shares.

Oh, the content of the email itself is even more perplexing:
Good morning!
I've been involved in the markets for a few decades now and I'll be the first to tell you that things have never been as uncertain as they are today.
With a new administration heading our country, it's becoming increasingly difficult to get the edge in the markets.
At least, we can always count on lady luck to come in handy when we need her.
A friend of mine founded a small medical company a few years ago and he has been researching a novel way of using the immune system to kill tumors.
After extensive tests and lengthy approval processes, he finally got the green light on this life changing new therapy.
Because of that, a big pharma has put in an offer to buy out the entire company. At essentially 10 times the current trading value.
This guarantees that if you get shares today at under 20 cents each, you will cash out ten times that amount by Friday.
The ticker which you need to use to buy is the first letter of each of these words:
Quest, Start, Mega, Great
Together they make up the 4 letter symbol which you need. Get in as fast as you can before the price jumps.
I have to wonder who would fall for this? And this spammer is not even trying to sell me something or get my private information. They seem to be wanting to pump up the price of a stock...and who is going to buy stock based on such an email?
Never mind. Apparently people are a lot dumber than even I thought?
-
@Polygeekery From Reuters:
Quest Management Inc., incorporated on October 12, 2014, is a development-stage company. The Company focuses on developing marketing channels to distribute third-party fitness equipment to wholesale markets in the United States.
Obviously, that includes developing cancer treatments
-
@RaceProUK the email just stinks of some type of "Boiler Room" pump and dump scam.

Used to be done via fax.
-
@boomzilla I don't know if this should be a crime. Anyone who would invest money based on unsolicited faxes or spam emails was going to spend all of their money on magic beans anyway. Should you really prosecute a person for just being first?

i think the crime is in abusing their credulity and naivete to your own financial gains...
of course if we're going to argue morality and ethics of the situation..... i think we need to park ourselves in the asbestos lined garage.

lady luck
Been a while since I saw her. How is she doing by the way?

I love the marketing emails that try to act like they know you, or that try to thank you for something with the assumption that it is something you have done:
Missed it by a mile.
-
You rove me rong time.

You know, because some people intentionally sign up for spam. For kicks.
Edit: Wait, the captcha is the same on all these sites!?!?! WTF?!!??!?!
Now I know this "unsubscribe" form won't work...

Well, I mean, they didn't get a bounce reply, that's half the verification already! Clicking the link is the next third. Loading the site gets an IP that can be matched to other such links as well, so... yeah?
-

Not anymore. A lot of MTAs don't send any bounce replies/NDRs for exactly this reason.

The link was unique. As soon as you clicked on it, you verified it was a legitimate email address. With someone stupid enough to click on their links...
-
It's true. I have my password.

Found this on my "Shared with me" folder. Probably from a spam audio.
-
@tsaukpaetra I recognize that email address as not-spam.
-
@tsaukpaetra It's a google doc I posted on the forums.
I guess google automatically leaks your email address when you share a doc? Good thing it's secretly a temporary mail address!

The thing is, if you get in (and out) early enough, you can actually stand to make a significant ROI. You're basically playing the same game as the scammers, then: buy low, and sell while it's in the middle of spiking, before it crashes.
This means that even a lot of people who know the game are still going to try to play it. They're gambling, plain and simple. A lot of them will hold onto the stock too long, and lose.
-
This one got through somehow.
