How the hell do you do that? The only search-like input instead searches xbox.com
Yes and the top results link to the store pages.
Strange. Wasn't working for me at all yesterday. The only results I got was for crackdown 3. Now it's mysteriously functional.
Fucking Microsoft...

Ewww. I hope you're using protection, at least.

Civilization VI free on Epic for a week.

According to GOG, yesterday I was Polish, today I'm Chinese. Well, I'm somewhere in between, so it's a temporal approximation, right? A quick search shows similar complaints from as far as 2015. Whatever they're using to detect region needs more polish.
Also, their summer sale is on.

Because you're more Polish than Chinese?

I've been known to be a bit German on occasion

@Applied-Mediocrity I spent a while trying to figure out what "kveshens" means, until I realized you're using faux-German, not actual German.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, free on Epic for a week.

Yet another Steam sale. Not free, but a pretty good discount.
Hearts of Iron IV, a WWII strategy game, is 75% off ($10 vs. $40) on Steam until Saturday, 6 June 10:00 AM PDT (Noon CDT, 1:00 PM EDT, 17:00 UTC, etc.). I haven't played it, so I can't offer a review, but it's been on my wish list for a while. (Not anymore; it's now in my library.) A DLC bundle is also 64% off ($38 vs. $105), I assume for the same time limit, but it doesn't actually say that.
Edit: The bundle includes the base game and 4 DLCs, but if you already have the base game, or buy it with the bundle, the DLCs are only $29.21.

@HardwareGeek I've spend over 100 hours on it. It's absolutely amazing. It's pretty complicated and requires getting used to, but once you do, the experience is one of a kind. The most prominent feature is that you can play as any country in the world. Any country. Brazil. South Africa. Czechoslovakia. Any country. And while internal politics are very limited, they still give a lot of roleplay potential, such as turning Germany into a shining beacon of democracy fighting against the evils of American communists.
And when the World War ends, you get to sit at the peace conference and draw up the new shape of Europe!
There's also hundreds of flavor events for history geeks, including some alternative history such as Amelia Earhart returning from her voyage and becoming USAF ace pilot, Hitler escaping from Germany, assuming fake name and starting road construction company, or Olympic Games happening if they don't get interrupted by war.
The only downside is that on newest patch, the naval combat is completely broken, especially against AI. Fortunately, you can make Steam download an older version if you want.

Cool. I'm looking forward to playing it.

Ouch. Since I only play single player games, that hurts.
Fortunately, you can make Steam download an older version if you want.
I've never tried to do that, and I've never noticed any UI that enables it. How does one go about doing that?

Steam has the beta access feature which lets you download pre-release version of a game if the developer allows it. Paradox decided to use it to deliver older patches so people can continue their saved games after a breaking change is introduced. Right-click a game in the library, select Properties, and it's somewhere there.

A game company that cares about their players?
-
@HardwareGeek yes! And they also do shout outs to bug reporters in official changelog!

A lot of cruft in there, no doubt, but seeing Night In The Woods and A Short Hike, both in my wishlist for some time, was enough to tempt me. Cook, Serve, Delicious 2 and Parallax, which I already own and enjoyed, helped seal the deal. Plus, it's for a good cause.
I don't have a itch.io account yet, so I'll buy this tomorrow when I'm awake.

Considering what all is sold on itch.io, I'm surprised. Then again, I haven't infiniscrolled through this entire collection.

Decided to infiniscroll through the whole list and yes, there's a lot of cruft. I recognized about a half-dozen games:
- Oxenfree, A Short Hike, and Minit, all of which I got free from the Epic store.
- Night in the Woods , which I watched someone play on YouTube.
- Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!; I haven't played or seen this, but I've heard of the series.
- Shipwreck, a Zelda clone that I got on Steam at some point. It's OK.
Still, there are a few games that look interesting, including two that run on the Commodore 64, so I gave them $5.

They are indeed. I tried using ub3r l33t h4x0rz to enable the button, but that just gave me "An error occurred while processing your request." with a reference number

It's working now, it just let me claim it.

ARK: Survival Evolved
Be aware that version is not yet compatible with mods, and not yet capable of playing with Steam players except on the official servers (which are trash).

They are still adding things to this bundle, now around 1500 items. I haven't looked through all the new things but I have recognized a few like Pyre and even more games from the Humble Vault and Epic's free giveaways. So far I've downloaded ~20 video games and some RPG PDFs I hadn't heard of before and have been enjoying one called Lenna's Inception, a Zelda-like. I think I've gotten my $5 out of it.
Reddit's r/itchioJusticeBundle has some reasonable lists and guides to finding things you might like.
-
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition - free on PS4, Xbox and Steam
-
Not quite free, but close:
Elliot Quest - a puzzle platformer with RPG elements. Kind of like Zelda 2. So far it seems pretty good, and worth the price
Lazy Galaxy: Rebel Story - a rogue-lite flying horizontal shooter. Haven't played it much yet
-
Free for a couple days:
-
Serious Sam: The First Encounter is free on GOG
It says -85% in the embed box but it's actually a giveaway
-
@hungrier The Second Encounter is -85%:
$5.99$0.89.
-
Left 4 Dead 2 free for weekend, $1.99 to buy
If anyone ends up buying it (or already owns it), I'd be interested in playing together.

Some free games from Sega (the last three in the list are coming out later):
They also released two free DLCs:
-
Decent discount on the Mega Drive/Genesis Classics bundle too:
-
@loopback0
Do I really need Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine? Meh
Do I need another copy of Sonic 3 & Knuckles? Hell yeah!
-
-
@izzion I would've said Sonic Spinball but not even Sega wanted to include it
e: Oh wait, there it is.
