♘ The Knights of WTF

Assuming of course I don't lose my knighthood because I have three lines of code in Discourse…
We've got our eyes on you …
-
Seconded!
-
I think I saw @RaceProUK throw in a supporting vote as well …
Yeah, I'll second
Yep.

Are Discodevs allowed to be Knights of WTF?
You may have my knighthood only when you pry it from my cold dead paws!
What say we?
I think we need a demerit system. When I first saw this, I thought, "No big deal, it's only three lines." Then I found out that her contribution has a bug. That surely counts against her. But is it worth stripping her of her title?

I have since pushed a fix; surely that counts for me?

That's what confirmed Discodev status for me.

Agreed.
-
Wait, how did that bug even get found? Did someone ... test your commit?
-
I have since pushed a fix; surely that counts for me?
We, your peers in the order, shall consider this new information. In one sense, correcting your bug works for you. In another, it works against, because you have now contributed to discocode twice.
As I said, I am of the opinion that a demerit system should be instituted, as opposed to outright stripping you of your title.

@Monarch reviewed it and spotted the bug

I made my bed… I will graciously accept any demerits the Order deems fit to bestow.
So long as there's a way to remove demerits later…

I think it counts against you—testing and bugfixing are undiscoursian behaviours.

I was thinking of a system where x demerits earned within y time period would result in loss of title.

Sounds fair.
-
x = 1
-
-
-
Obviously y would need to be a short enough time period to easily track. Something like a month. Maybe 2.
Of course then we'd want to set x at an attainable limit for that time period, without being overly restrictive. 3 demerits in a month or 5 in 2 months seems appropriate to me.
Any other proposals?
-
what defines a demerit?
consensus from the order?

Discodevs are kings of WTF, surely, if not gods, creating WTF of inconceivable complexity out of nothing by the mere power of their thoughts. Not that that qualifies them for membership in our honourable *cough, cough, uh, sorry, I think I'm coming down with a cold* Order.
-
consensus from the order?
That would be about the only way to do it. Otherwise, we'd have to come up with all sorts of rules and bylaws. And who really has time for that?
-
no trial by combat?
Otherwise, we'd have to come up with all sorts of rules and bylaws.
well, the order has WTF in its name
-
no trial by combat?
Now that's an interesting idea. How would you propose to implement it?
-
Verbal* sparring?
*. Alright, textual sparring...
-
something like this https://codefights.com/
but not everyone here is a coder so it might be a little unfair. unless the charged part gets to choose a champion
-
I would suggest "internet jousting" but the only remotely relevant link I could find is... whatever... this is...
-
am i reading?

Might be doable.

Since the good knights seem to be in a voting mood, may I most humbly resubmit my petition:
I've been trying to think of an appropriate title related to my brief stint as a Viscount Pedantic Dickweed. I'm thinking something like
Peasant Knight @Jaloopa of the Ex Pedantic Nobility
-
Seconded
-
-

So I'm guessing I'm on two as of yesterday (one for each Discopatch)? And one more before April 24th will mean I have to surrender my title?
-
-
-
Many thanks. Added to my bio
-
-
-
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.
-
How does one get a title? Is it strictly invitation only or can I bite your ankles until you let me have one?
-

If bugs don't belong at TDWTF then I don't want to, either.
-
@Monarch reviewed it and spotted the bug
Peer review! Like most discobugs, spotted by the someone at TDWTF. I don't see a problem here.
-

You think of what your title you want, then petition the Knights for acceptance into the Order ;)Or you can ask for suggestions. Either way works.
Edit: I Hanzo'd @boomzilla!

You can propose one or ask that the community choose one for you.

Hmmm, I feel like this is more satisfying if it's something people call me, rather than what I ask them to call me. So far the only 'thing' I've been called on here is a gigantic coward wussy-wimp. Any advances on that?
Filed under: I wouldn't actually object to that. It's no secret that things frighten me
-
Yeah, but blakeyrat calls everyone stuff like that.
-
Well any other suggestions?
-
Lady Knight @CarrieVS of the Forum With The Bear?
OK, I admit it, I'm struggling for ideas here…

Managed to fit in a hidden reference to your indentured servitude, and the dinosaur thing

velociphobia
Bicycles, I'm generally not afraid of. But the Fair and Divine Mount is quite cool.
