You can do it through the Calendar app, but it's a bit of a palava for quick reminders really
Well, that's all we're looking for here. "Blakey needs to remember to buy that game tonight".
-
Dude.
I don't care nearly that much.
Relax.
-
Relax.
I'm relaxed. I just got something working that nobody else in the company could be bothered to help me with. You can call me whatever was the name of that chick in Tomorrowland.

I didn't watch the movie.

Cortana was acting strange lately in the beta, so I tried adding a reminder to the calendar manually using the beta Outlook Calendar app. It was...
...actually great, and incredibly easy.

-
Ok.

I know he's an indie dev and he's not making much money off it, but he's also a total shithead for telling news sources he was going to give everybody who owned 10,000,000 a free copy then reneging on his promise. Even if it was a full year ago.
-
I emailed him my receipt, but it turns out he's in the fucking UK so I missed the goddamned time cut-off. I'm be fucking super-annoyed if he screws me over because I happened to be at work when I learned about this dumb limited-time offer.
KIND OF GRUMPY.
Hey people: IF YOU MAKE A PROMISE AND THEN DON'T FULFILL IT? YOU ARE A SHITHEAD.
That is all.

I didn't watch the movie.
I have and I don't remember the chick's name.
It was a really memorable movie.
-
I have and I don't remember the chick's name.
I have trouble remembering the names of characters in TV shows that I watch regularly. Yes, I'm often that bad with names in real life, too.

Steam Summer Sale just started... but I'm at work and can't see what's on sale.
-
5E for each of the Metro redux games an 8E for the bundle. Complete XCOM: EU for 6E. Allegedly 50 percent off GTA5,but it seems not for Europe.
Also, the 12 hour flash deals are apparently back.
-
Allegedly 50 percent off GTA5
that didn't take long.... i was expecting them to skip that one for the summer sale and hit it in the winter sale
-
And we only get 25 percent. Off of an already inflated price of 75 euro.
Fuck.
-
The info I've found related to GTA5 is that the discount only applies to a combo pack of the game plus "cards" that are for in-game currency for the online mode. The combo packs only seem to be 25-30% off too.
-
I see GTA5 by itself at 25% discount on the store page. The pack with cards are there too, but an euro or so more expensive despite higher discount.
Fucking regional pricing.

Where's Euro-Steam?
Oh right, Europeans just sit on their fat asses and wait for Americans to solve all their problems. Then bitch about our solutions. Then eat crepes. Fucking crepes.

-
GTAV stuff in the US on Steam:
- $59.99 for just GTAV (0% off)
- $59,99 with the Great White Shark Cash Card (25% off)
- $59,99 with Max Payne 3 and the Tiger Shark Cash Card. (29% off)
- $59.99 with GTA: San Andreas and the Tiger Shark Cash Card (25% off)
So, no, GTAV isn't 50% off in the US. Also, bear in mind that US prices don't includes taxes.
-
Also, bear in mind that US prices don't includes taxes.
How much of the euro-price is tax?
-
20% in the UK
-
Isn't that the VAT rate? You probably pay duty on beer as well.
-
...where did beer come into it?
-
Games are subject to VAT, not alcohol tax
-
me misreading the previous post?
-
Beer in mind? I think you had an @accalia in your head

Seemingly. I've been trying to debug weird resource problems in an automated test - 50GB of address space and 2k threads on a VM with 4 cores, 15GB ram, and 10 gb swap (unused). I argued against that design from the start but with the area owner and technical architect against me I didn't manage to bring any arguments that could convince them...
-
GTAV is US$74.99 (full price) by itself or US$71.23 (25% off) with the Great White Shark Cash Card on Steam here in Australia.
As far as I know there's no actual tax included in that price[1], just the "Australia tax" (i.e. we pay more for things even when they're entirely digital). Apparently Steam's prices are the local (AUD) RRP in USD (i.e. AU$75 becomes US$75), which means we pay more even before the exchange rate.
[1] GST currently doesn't apply to online purchases under AU$1000, but the government recently considered changing or removing that threshold.
-
Your automated testing problems are relevant to video games. Proceed.
-
Nope, I call weekend. I'll have at least one new test run to look into on monday, but hopefully that'll just be a successful one.
This weekend's plans include Heroes of the Storm and Witcher 3.
-
Witcher 3.
Shamus gave up on Witcher 3 when it had a 7-hour-long quest to find some asshole. Even worse, the writers of the game "humorously" added some dialog pointing out how long the quest was.
Protip to game developers: when you implement something shitty, don't have dialog in your game pointing out how shitty it is.
-
I declare thee to be the world's first Zero Patience Rodent.
-
Shamus gave up on Witcher 3 when it had a 7-hour-long quest to find some asshole.
Didn't he un-quit afterwards? Like, maybe twice, even?
-
I dunno, I saw another 5000000 word rant about Fallout 3 and kind of got pissed off and unsubscribed from his blog.
Look, there's nothing wrong with long-form criticism but Jesus Christ give it a fucking rest. Being that obsessed over Fallout 3 in 2015 isn't long-form criticism, it's mental illness.
-
Ever since he stopped being a professional programmer, his blog has mainly been long-form ranting. Hell, he even uses one of your bits, deliberate misunderstanding, like his feigned ignorance of video cards.
I don't blame you, though, for getting tired of the same old stuff like endless fallout 3 rants.
-
Where's Euro-Steam?
Oh right, Europeans just sit on their fat asses and wait for Americans to solve all their problems. Then bitch about our solutions. Then eat crepes. Fucking crepes.
We gave you the Witcher, you give us the GTAs.
Also apparently it was a price error or something and actually no one get's a discount, so at least we're all fucked together.
endless fallout 3 rants.
It was a good game, properly upped in scale, the main story was rather meh, but then again so it was in the first two ones.
Also, apparently the dailies now carry over to the next day or something? I thought I missed the Metro bundle since Steam put up new dailies, but it's at the same price even now.
-
Ever since he stopped being a professional programmer, his blog has mainly been long-form ranting.
That's not fair, there's also pointlessly vitroilic ranting about Windows where:
- the actual problem is defective hardware, and
- despite his constant bitching, he keeps using Windows
Also, apparently the dailies now carry over to the next day or something?
They've always lasted 48 hours, every single sale.
-
It was a good game, properly upped in scale, the main story was rather meh, but then again so it was in the first two ones.
Blakey's joke about half a million words of F3 rants is less inaccurate than you might think, if you talk about all the rants Shamus has made on that game over the years.
-
They've always lasted 48 hours, every single sale.
Maybe today will have good ones. Yesterday was great if you wanted to buy 10 car simulators.
-
That's not fair, there's also pointlessly vitroilic ranting about Windows where:
Technically speaking, that's still mostly long-form ranting as such.
I've been thinking for a long time of dropping him from my daily read list, but haven't bothered yet. Unfortunately a lot of blogs I read have gone dark and I haven't found as many replacements.
Did you know he's still popular enough he's getting $1600/mo via Patreon?
-
For others' delectation, I provide, for posterity, demonstration of @blakeyrat using Discourse In The Manner In Which It Was Intended, i.e., combing multiple replies into one post. I'm not so mean as to @-mention Jeff, though.
-
They've always lasted 48 hours, every single sale.
Huh. I've never noticed that actually.
Maybe today will have good ones. Yesterday was great if you wanted to buy 10 car simulators.
And worst of all, no ETS2 among them. Although it is on sale, but maybe it'll get a daily or a flash.
-
Blakey's joke about half a million words of F3 rants is less inaccurate than you might think, if you talk about all the rants Shamus has made on that game over the years.
Yikes. I get the nostalgia factor for the old ones, but at some point it's just sad.
And given how the continuation-remake-things usually go on (or at least went on back then), it was a really good game.
-
Yikes. I get the nostalgia factor for the old ones, but at some point it's just sad.
It's not as if he does it regularly. Every once in a while he'll do a callout to how much he hated one aspect or another of the game as it relates to another, more recent game he's talking about. I forget what set him off this week about F3. F4 maybe? He's involved in a long-running 4-person comedy lets play, so he covers a bunch of games over time.
-
Did you know he's still popular enough he's getting $1600/mo via Patreon?
Him personally or Spoiler Warning?
-
Him personally or Spoiler Warning?
*checks* Him personally...oh, it's almost $1700 now. Spoiler Warning has a separate account and is close to $800 at this point.
-
Yeah that doesn't make sense. Well every year he gets more and more "old man yells at cloud" (where the "cloud" is Fallout 3), so maybe that'll fall-off.
Goddamned maybe I should set up a patreon. Y'all idiots wanna hand me free money?
