@TimeBandit What's the rate of conversion from carlos to smoot?
-
I have been repeatedly informed that the USA is the only country (that matters) that doesn't use the metric system. I have also been reliably informed that South America is not part of the USA.
So it seems to me that someone must be wrong here?
-
@Dragoon logical conclusion appears to be that South America doesn’t matter.

Yes, you.
You're assuming that the person reporting the find is from South America

One YouTube channel I subscribe to, that of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial, measures dimensions in units of "curators". "This compartment is less than one curator high."

It has mass and takes up space. It matter.

"Tortuga del tamaño de un coche" appears in several news outlets, but only the English-speaking ones have Carlos for scale. Car-los being Spanishish for "make them like a car" it's the natural unit for this of course.

Roughly the same as Tinker to Evers to Chance.

@topspin When a budding composer wrote to Rossini for advice on how best to compose an overture, the maestro responded:
Wait until the evening before opening night. Nothing primes inspiration more than necessity, whether it be the presence of a copyist waiting for your work or the prodding of an impresario tearing his hair out. In my time, all the impresarios in Italy were bald at thirty.... I composed the overture to Otello in a little room in the Barbaja Palace where the baldest and fiercest of directors had forcibly locked me up with a lone plate of spaghetti and the threat that I would not be allowed to leave the room alive until I had written the last note

Interesting, though not as versatile as the President, which can be used as a measure of time as well as height.

Hmm. Does South America have mass and takes up space? Or is South America two-dimensional? If not, how far down does it go, and how far up does it go?
