But if there are usually lots of accidents and violent deaths (at a population level), then surely they must count as natural causes for men?

Of course there are serious flat-earthers.

I still can't believe how you made up something not even remotely close to anything I've ever said. Okay, I'm lying here. I totally can.
Of course there are serious flat-earthers.
I've seen too much 4chan to just believe anything I read on the internet. Some people are very dedicated to their hoaxes.

You're the perfect example for how flat-earthers came to be. One sentence from my link is very apropriate:
When people are motivated to resolve cognitive dissonance that they face when information conflicts with their own values, they do this not by adjusting their deeply held worldviews, but by rejecting the conflicting information.
Fits you perfectly on this.

@kazitor By free association it reminded me that I always wondered: Dick is a dirty word, but it is also a common alias for
RobertRichard that nobody seems to find offensive. I think I've heard at least one similar case. So Americans should be well used to words only being offensive in context. Why then are now so many words considered offensive always—with this one or two traditional exceptions?Edit: I keep mixing those names.

@Bulb It is not in fact a common alias for Robert.

I think probably because they're very often used to be offensive, so that's the first, and possibly only, meaning most people think of. And because we consider them to be exceptionally private and not for public discussion due to a cultural (and often religious) bias against referring directly to sexual or scatological things. For terms with a religious tone (and their euphemisms) (e.g. damn/darn), the aversion is to the fact that invoking them borders on blasphemy (i.e. trying to take God's role as eternal Judge). Terms for God (Christ, etc.) as expletives are avoided in non-religious contexts for being disrespectful, meaningless invocations that "take God's name in vain," which is forbidden by the Third of the Ten Commandments, according to popular understanding.

When the fire started in Paris, it was midnight in the US of A. Time zones, how do they work?
