@Bulb
Perhaps it's a... copycat!
-
@anonymous234 I wish I could do something like that to students sometimes. An unambiguous "I'm the big dog here, listen up and stop being such a pain" signal that wouldn't get me in massive trouble.
-
@anonymous234 A long time ago we had a 110-pound yellow lab. And one of the cats really liked him, always trying to cuddle up to him or play with him. One day, the dog was asleep on the floor and the cat came in and woke him up. I wish cell phone cameras existed back then, because the dog got up, picked the cat up in his mouth, took her out of the room, and set her down in the hallway. Then he went back into the room, laid back down in his spot, and returned to sleep.

@JBert Especially since the sticker also has USB ports, so the wall wart itself would be entirely useless...
Yeah, just plug your cell phone directly into the data-hole in a wall. No way that could backfire.
That's why I carry this when I travel.
-
@Benjamin-Hall
School administrators do get so picky about whipping your donger out to win the measure-off against your students...
-
@loopback0 The mathematician who invented the metric system was not completely sober either, otherwise he'd have used duodecimal. (But at least he was sober enough to be consistent.)
-
@Bulb Eh, this would only be a good idea if we used base 12 for all numbers.
Which we probably should, but it's hard to change now.
-
@remi Or you know, just make your phone NOT trust random USB devices?
Which Android and iOS already do! You need to confirm you want to transfer files to the computer. If that implementation is actually secure or not, I don't know.

Regardless of how strong I think my server firewall is, I don't want people connecting random devices to my local network.
-
@anonymous234 It's not.
-
@loopback0 said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:
No, the rest of the world was invented by a drunk mathematician that decided a "hundredweight" should be 112 pounds instead of the obvious 100.
-
@PJH no, no, those are ascuits.
-
@ben_lubar So you're saying we shouldn't ever allow non-trusted devices to be connected to anything because security is impossible.
Welp, let's dismantle the internet then!
-
@anonymous234 Good hyperbolic strawman, but best hyperbolic strawman goes further:
You're saying that we should all immediately self-immolate because we are all security compromises.
-
@Gribnit It's not even a strawman. Talking to untrusted devices is a thing that the internet (among other things) requires and should be possible. This is exactly the same thing.
The idea that everything nearby is the "local network" and is therefore more trusted is retarded brain cancer-AIDS.

It's a little safer for my computer to interact with random stuff on the internet because my router silently drops most types of unsolicited incoming packets. For example, except for one specific machine on ports 80 and 443, no IPv6 address in my house can receive packets from a host they did not send packets to recently.

"Cut" means circumcised.
The picture is a menorah being lit, a prototypical Jewish event.

I know these things. Apparently there was not enough context for me. I still don't find it funny...

The screenshot is from Grindr, a gay dating app.
It's notorious for guys just looking for hookups, so, comparable to guys sending women unsolicited pictures of their junk on tinder et al., you'd get people starting a "conversation" by asking you for pictures of your junk.
In this case, the subject seems to prefer circumcised partners, so Jewish rang well with him. But candles wasn't what he was looking for.Filed under: you should try it, pal

He doesn't need glasses. He's just trying to decide whether to submit it in the Poe or Noe thread.
