⏱ You know you've been spending too much time on TDWTF when...
-
The only logical explanation is that we're Doing It Wrong by searching for stuff we might actually want to find
-
Clearly we're all assholes; We'll be submitting minor bug reports next.

Yes.
We'll be submitting minor bug reports next.

YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW when you're working, type in
<button>
and then want to go back and correct it to<asson>
because actual work code is no place for TDWTF reference...

Y13W you misread "hate it" like "hat it".

YKYBSTMTOTW
That's Y9W. Unless you meant YKYBSTMTOTDWTFW?
And even then, most things here are actually applicable only for WTDWTF (and let's face it, nobody reads the front page anymore), hence YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW, hence Y14W.
-
Can we compromise on YnW?
-
Unless you meant YKYBSTMTOTDWTFW?
Yes.That's Y9W.
I'm cool with that.most things here are actually applicable only for WTDWTF [...] hence Y14W
Sure, why not? I'm fine with someone amending this thread's title, if they are so inclined.

YKYHBSTMTOTDWTFW you read a github issue and look for the like button to flag it as a bug to the discodevelopers...

YKYHBSTMTIWTDWTFCOMW you enter the following comment into a JIRA ticket
ah. this is a data issue alright. Looks like the import used the wrong ServiceDate and some 2015 orders got Jeffed to 2014. hold on i'll sort these out.
-
some 2015 orders got Jeffed to 2014
Is that still the comment, or did you edit it after?
-
i decided to leave it. I'd already posted it by the time i noticed and 99% of our JIRA users only interact with it by email so editing it wouldn't fix anything.
let's hope none of them are regulars here,eh?

From what you've said about them before, your co-workers are decent people… though I guess there are JIRA users that aren't your co-workers… then again, most people would just ignore the slang term; from context, it's clear what you meant ;)
-
Not a fan of high-fives?
high fives are no problem.
but most of our Jira users aren't in IT
which does mean they are unlikely to be regulars

When someone posts this video:

And if you really do respond with ?
I'm asking for a friend.
-
...when at the end of a long working day full of you begin to estimate how long the next post in the Lounge documenting the WTF will be, and are sad that weekly digests are the most frequent you can probably stomach doing.
-
FWIW I look forward to reading them.

Per abarker here:
@abarker said:To the YKYBSTMTOWTDWTF thread with you!
I've got (emphasis added):
@locallunatic said:@loose said:
Mea culpa. I didn't read your reply properly. Apology offered.
Buh? Admitting it and apologizing? I'm unsure how to respond to that (which is a strong sign I've been spending too much time on here lately).

I think I am physically unable to write an English post in any forum / comunity that does not end with
Filed Under: something
If the place has markdown enabled, it becomes even harder!
So I have probably been here too long!
Filed Under: You can easily recognize me with this knowledge
-
That seems more of a CS thing. Aren't you one of the joined since the move people?
-
Aren't you one of the joined since the move people?
Yeah, So I have been on TDWTF for a year... which apparently is too much time because Filed Unders are everywhere now!
I am pretty sure there are 3 posts tops without a Filed Under written by me. And I always link it to #tag
Filed Under. Like this!
Also Filed Under: The topic doesn' say "You have been spending too much time on Discourse" CS-times are TDWTF-times as well!
-
And I always link it to #tag
I used to, but then someone at Discourse briefly fucked up the local link styling, so I stuck with http://zombo.com
The click tracking occasionally makes it amusing.
Filed under: I even have it on autocomplete

YKYBSTMTOWTDWTF when you do click on that and your antivirus complains...

YKYHBSTMTOWTDWTFW you absent mindeldy fire off an email to Andre and Kate with the text:
@andre, @kate, we need to frobnicate serverxyz. are you at a good point to take an early lunch so we cna frobnicate the server without interrupting your work?
-
You'd think the lack of autocomplete would alert you, but with the autocomplete lag Discourse suffered through lately, that probably won't trigger your context checking routines ;)
-
and again:
Looks like [external integration] API is a little overloaded at the moment. I've turned off the queue processor for now so we don't hit the service until the cooties storm passes. Messages will get queued to be processed when the service is turned back on.
why don't i catch this stuff before i send it?

You mean your spelling mistakes?
Everything else about the message looks normal to me.

Today a coworker messaged me to nitpick something about an automated process. I told him "pull requests accepted".
-
I was doing (the equivalent of) that long before I started reading TDWTF. Admittedly it was “patches accepted” because git wasn't a thing at that point, but even so.
-
... you send your colleagues a meme reply

-
Have you found an opportunity to hanzo-PRAISE them yet?

Y9W your manager calls you pedantic and you almost ask "but not a dickweed"?

Y9W
That there is more than sufficient demonstration. Even more so when
Iyouone looks at it and knows immediately what it means.

YKYBSTMTOTW you read a post without paying attention to the author's name or avatar, but figure out who wrote it by the typos.
Filed under: No one in particular; why do you ask?

You Know You've Been Spending Too Much Time On YKYBSTMTOWTDWTFW When you start using Y14W abbreviations.
