Status: I'd like to see a browser implement tabs for tabs.
When I went back to Chrome because Brave was stupid, the tab creep started again. I fill up a window and use another window as my current scratchpad until it fills up and I have to open another window. Well I got to the point where I had 8-9 windows and it was difficult to find what tab in what window was playing that noise so I thought I'd group like tabs into windows. Now (dozens of low memory crashes later) I have 20-21 windows and still can't find anything.
Hey @HardwareGeek, we've found another one.

@Zenith Maybe I should try Vivaldi one of these days.

Ha! I needed a chuckle this morning!
Also, most modern variants allow extensions. Mine is Tabs Outliner, which mostly works.
-
I second @Zerosquare's recommendation. Sidebery is also a good alternative.
Panorama View is unfortunately not good enough to replace Firefox's old Panorama, which was the feature in Firefox.

There's also 'accordion tabs' in latest version.
Whatever that is.

Status Dates suck. And yes I do mean all three meanings of that (that I can think of):
- Dates (romantic events with members of the preferred gender) suck because I can't seem to have any.
- Dates (points in time) suck because dealing with them is insane. Calendars are crazy. I've been fighting "how do we want to handle <specific edge case use> all of today and yesterday. The final resolution was: let's not change anything major right now, but add some missing data so we can solve the immediate need. We'll fix the other part when we overhaul the data model it's associated with.
- Dates (the dried fruit) suck because, well,

And when you have any, you'll find out that dealing with them is insane as well
-
@Benjamin-Hall You are inviting a lot of snark with your 1. point.
"It's not the dates that suck" and "actually dates are better when you're not involved" jump straight to mind.
Fortunately I wouldn't write this sort of hateful things, even in the Garage (which this isn't), so I will be making no such comments.

Seems like you’d need to have some though for them to suck. (Pick

Now I'm going to sit here listening to my brain listening to my brain.
It gets old quick after the curiosity of time distortion affecting your perception of time distortion runs out.

You probably shouldn't have done the thing outlined below either in that case:
As a rhetorical device, apophasis can serve several purposes.
It can be employed to raise an ad hominem or otherwise controversial attack while disclaiming responsibility for it, as in, "I refuse to discuss the rumor that my opponent is a drunk." This can make it a favored tactic in politics.

A stunningly misguided example of pendantry. No mere emojus will suffice. You named the joke form, with which all were familiar, and there's a handy quote. Congrats! Have you considered making your writing worth reading, or even your own?

Then again, I'm not sure how possible really having proper branching is in a video game.
The problem is that it takes an insane amount of effort to implement it for anything other than RPGs (and some strategy games, but the story in those is usually a whatever feature anyway). When even a single path takes a lot of work, the vast number of paths that exist in a meaningfully branching setting is just going to overwhelm teams (while simultaneously that work is in things not being seen by most players). It's just not financially sensible.

If the branch choices parameterize a declared world model vs command a new world state, it is more manageable.

Status: Got reminded about Free Guy by Critical Drinker's review, so I wanted to look up if I could stream it. I found this crappy article that says:
IS FREE GUY ON STREAMING? HOW TO WATCH FREE GUY:
Not yet.
Ok, fair enough. But there's more to the article
WILL FREE GUY BE ON HBO MAX?
No. Free Guy is not a Warner Bros. movie. HBO Max, which is owned by Warner Media, is only the streaming home to first-run Warner Bros. blockbusters like The Suicide Squad. Because Free Guy is being distributed by 20th Century Studios—which is now owned by Disney—it will not stream on HBO Max at the same time that it’s in theaters. While it is possible that Free Guy will be on HBO Max someday, it will not be any time soon.
Makes sense. They also have a couple sections about some other streaming services:
IS FREE GUY ON NETFLIX? No. Free Guy is not on Netflix. Because Free Guy is technically a Disney movie, it is more likely the film will end up on Disney+.
IS FREE GUY ON DISNEY PLUS PREMIER ACCESS? No. While Free Guy is technically a Disney movie, it will not be available for $30 on Disney+ Premier AccessBut then they come to their conclusion:
WHEN WILL FREE GUY BE STREAMING?
While no official streaming date for Free Guy has been announced, the movie should be available on video-on-demand after about 45 days in theaters, according to a report from Variety. Therefore, we can estimate that Free Guy will be on streaming sometime around the last week of September 2021. But surprisingly (perhaps), it won’t head to Disney+ after that. Since Free Guy is a 20th Century Studios movie, formerly 20th Century Fox, due to a pre-existing deal, after Free Guy‘s VOD window, it will head to HBO and HBO Max. After some unspecified time there, it may head to Disney+. But not any time soon. Sorry, Ryan.
So what about all that shit in the HBO Max section? I'm now more confused than before, and don't even know if I can trust them that it isn't available to stream right now
-
Status: Just got a postcard notifying me of upcoming electric rate increases effective June 1 2021. Gee, thanks.
-
@hungrier The meaning of the two seems to be:
- Since it's not a Warner Bros movie, it can't be on HBO Max while it's in theaters.
- Free Guy has a VOD deal (with cable companies? with theaters? Not specified). After that, it will end up on HBO Max. When will that happen?
, but likely sometime around the end of September (which, when the article was written, wasn't any time soon).
- After that, it might go to Disney+.
There's contradiction between the "might go to HBO Max" and "will go after the VOD time, due to a deal", but that's attributable (likely) to lack of editing. But it's clear (as long as the article isn't outright lying about everything) that it's not available now.
-
@Benjamin-Hall I was being a bit facetious in that last part. But it reads like a markov chain, or someone with no short term memory. "It's possible that it'll go to HBO Max, but not any time soon. It won't be on Netflix, but probably Disney+. It could go to Disney+ but not any time soon. It'll be on HBO Max"

Since this isn't the garage, I'll refrain from stating my true feelings about "journalists" (especially online ones) in this context.
I will say that I wouldn't be surprised if markov-chain-like bots were writing most of those.

The problem with entertainment journalism is not primarily a supply-side problem.
