Oh, OK then. I'll have one of those. A minute kind:
It's abstract?
Why the hell isn't it an enum or something, why make this overcomplicated. Gah.

In case someone invents a new measure of time?
-
@Cursorkeys Yes! For example, I made a
TICK
unit of time representing twentieths of a second, which was useful in Sponge.

Status: Why does Windows allow focus stealing
Just managed to cancel a file copy operation that popped-up and stole focus while I was typing. Now I have an inconsistant copy so I'm going to have to re-run the whole thing. Amazing.
Maybe I'll use Robocopy this time and at least if will be easier to continue when it does it again.
Android Studio update also stole focus, twice, while I was trying to type this. I'm almost motivated to see if someone's already made something that eats
WM_SETFOCUS
andWM_KILLFOCUS
out of everything's message queues unless the instigator is the topmostHWND
already. That always confuses me. Cause I swear MS is always saying "we fixed that. an app can't steal focus anymore."...
Oh, Bug Report for Our App: Using the global key hook, the window does not appear on top of everything else. (Of course for me, no repro)

In other news, my brother starts school on Wednesday. Jesus, they really don't waste time, do they? Somehow I remember September being a month school started in.It was for me (in grade school). The Wed after Labor Day.

@Cursorkeys Ah, yes, the incessant time waste of learning how to use an API.

@pie_flavor As a Mac Classic programmer I feel compelled to point out:
- A "tick" is already a unit of time
- It's defined as 1/60th of a second
- Mac Classic was the best OS ever

Look at the RES column for what's actually in RAM. I'm assuming SIZE is just the amount of virtual memory.

@Tsaukpaetra Well, for starters, you should fix the one that says Repond

If we're trying to have a weird-unit-off, I can do better than anything proposed so far:
In Dwarf Fortress, temperatures are represented internally by a scale where 0°C/32°F is represented by 10000 and the scale is otherwise equivalent to Fahrenheit.
Which means 0 in this scale is -5282K.
-
@ben_lubar Given DF exists in a universe with some degree of magic, temperature should be controllable through magic. I see no reason temperatures should be bound by conventional physics.

So... 1.5Gb for what is essentially a task scheduler and XML-file parser? It's almost completely idle at the time of snip, no jobs running, nothing of (apparent) not going on that (IMO) should require more memory than the game it's tasked to schedule builds for...
Or, memory must be leaking somewhere and the machine is just shoving it to the pagefile when it realizes it's never getting accessed...

That particular one is likely to be merged into one of the others. It's a function that (IIRC) doesn't get used anymore.

By unreachable code, if memory serves. Yes it can technically be called, but due to outside conditions likely never will.

I have no idea. Also, null temperature is 60001.
-
@ben_lubar The only thing that I can think of that might make sense would be if the code treated numbers from, say, 10000-10100, as all temperatures, and numbers in other ranges were entirely different things. But that would mean that 0 on that scale would be... well, not a temperature.
-

The game can handle temperatures pretty far outside of that range.

My phone carrier keeps emailing me that I'm eligible for an upgrade, but if I follow the link and go their site I get a mostly-empty web page and a spinner that never stops spinning.
I miss the days when everything was rendered server-side by PHP or whatever. Stuff worked back then. Today, 85% of websites fail for me because their JavaScript quickly goes off into the weeds and gets eaten by a boa constrictor.
