I woke up with my alarm, plenty of time to get ready for work. My cat then noticed I was awake and moved off my feet and up onto my chest for a cuddle. He purrs like a little steam-train...woke up again half an hour later in a panic with no time left. I bet he's still asleep upside-down on my bed.

Are you me? That sounds like my morning, except it was maybe closer to an hour and a half before my alarm. And I was still late for work, because I spent too much time on the computer before I got ready.
-
@HardwareGeek I got to work at 6am. The meeting wasn't as bad as I thought, because I made and distributed a detailed proposal so we could focus on those details instead of our very different underlying philosophy of learning.
-
-
@HardwareGeek my alarm normally goes off at 5:30 and I'm normally at work by 7. It's the only time I can be productive, since when kids get there at 830 i have to constantly context switch from then till 4 or so.

Status: The curious case of the vanishing data
The first location in a multidimensional array was becoming zero randomly. I couldn't catch the bugger doing it and this debugger can't break-on-memory-access.
Finally I look at the.map
:0x0b00 _time_buffer
0x0b14 _output_buffer
Hmm, but the fill routine for time_buffer does only fill to the correct length, there's no overrun! What about the failsafe that puts in the default time when a remote one isn't available?
sprintf (time_buffer,"00/01/01,00:00:00+00");
... Null terminator

Status: God damn, it's been a long and frustrating day. I was told I'd just be looking at one issue, but quickly found I was duped. The entirety of the day was "Okay, open this log file... <gives full path>. Jump to the end now scroll backwards... <user pages backwards frustratingly slowly, then jumps right past error> STOP STOP! Okay, looks like you don't have <x> configured correctly. Open this configuration file... change line # <I learned to do this because otherwise it'd be 10 minutes of the user searching for the right configuration value>. Redeploy <5 minutes> and restart <10 minutes> while I just stare at the wall with nothing to do and nothing caffeinated to drink <I got more and more testy as we neared the ten hour mark and I was feeling the withdrawal>."
Repeat for <y>, <z>, <α>, <β>, <γ>, <δ>, <ε>, <ζ>, <η>, <θ>, <ι>, and <κ>, all of which should have been configured before I got there. Only <λ> required my extensive familiarity with the code in play (I wrote it).
If I go back for another diagnostics session, I'm bringing a book (not even kidding).

No, I stood outside for a mere two hours. Hence my concern. Typically I require over six hours of continuous exposure to progress past a level two tan.

STATUS My
testcoverage code review has taken a startling turn. Someone is questioning the names of test methods. I'm going to see if I can convince someone to codify them.

Status: The lovely scheduling fuckery for wednesdays continues, where I got 3 hours of being busy right over the normal lunch hours. Thankfully it's only a temporary thing that will happen two more weeks and then done. (Busy from 9:50 to 12:50, can get cheap work lunch from 10:30 to 12:30.) At least I got nothing scheduled outside of those hours, so I could technically just go home and do WFH (or "WFH") afterwards.

Status: maybe 3 consecutive days of our primary system being down during business hours due to back-end issues will prompt our school administration to move to something that's not run by "two guys in an office", or at least move to a version of our current software that's less than 15 years old.
I'd love a self-hosted solution, but one constant of education-related software is that it all sucks. Horribly. There is no good educational software (at least at the platform level) out there.
-
@Benjamin-Hall said in The Official Status Thread:

I once found an XSS vulnerability in such a system. Repro:
- set the composer to "code" mode
- enter hax between script tags
Later: pages full of posts saying "Hey what, I never posted this message!"

@Benjamin-Hall What kind of platform are you talking about exactly?

The primary one that provides the online gradebook (which updates for students, parents, and faculty), the attendance/scheduling system, the admin records (for transcripts, etc), etc.
With that down, we have to take attendance manually, can't check/add grades (which since it's the last week of the semester....), can't do any of the admin tasks, etc.
Course content (such as worksheets, videos, due dates, etc) are on a different LMS that has a much better track record but doesn't have the admin functionality.

It doesn't count unless proper gestures are used

Status: Ticket check in trolley. One guy was caught without ticket. He refuses to show ID or identify himself. The ticket inspector called police so they can identify him, as is the standard procedure. The passenger repeatedly tried to run away, but was stopped by the two inspectors (surprisingly strong women). He even tried to lift off the overhead rail and jump over seats, but failed. Thepolice is waiting at the end of the line. 7 stops left.

Still. I'm wondering if we even have an SLA in our contract, and if so what it is. Because they're probably below one 9 at this point.

I take offense at the innuendo that gypsies are not white people. Is it the white that they're allegedly not, or people?

@jinpa yes.
