Status: anyone know anything about fixing sticking mouse buttons? My right mouse button is starting to be...unreliable. Sometimes it won't fire, other times it will release/click when it isn't supposed to, with the button still down. I like the mouse, it'd be a shame to have to replace it.
That doesn't sound like sticking - that sounds like wobbling. No cure for that AFAIK; time to get a new one.
Yeah. I've acquired a temporary replacement and will start the search for a permanent replacement probably Monday since tomorrow is busy.

A trackball? Are you mad? The amount of relearning that would require would be...uncomfortable. And I've had bad experiences with Logitech devices. My last mouse was a Corsair M65 Pro, and it had a good run. 2.5 years of heavy daily use, including playing Warframe, which involves lots of held buttons and rapid clicking.

Louis Rossman uses one.
Filed under: So do I, actually, but mostly because using a mouse on a couch cushion is annoying and I don't want to use a hard pad

If you're a righty you could look at the rereleased Logitech MX518. I'm still using my old one from a decade ago.

Hardware makers never fix anything ever. It's like one of their unspoken rules.
It's a spoken rule. It would cost money to fix it, lots of money, so if it can't be fixed by a firmware update then it never gets fixed.

@Tsaukpaetra oh, you became transparent again. I was so used to it I didn't even notice.

Are you saying that this
linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As
in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?That sounds preposterous to me.
If
it were true (and I doubt it), then companies would be selling
computers without a windows. This clearly is not happening, so there
must be some error in your calculations. I hope you realise that
windows is more than just Office ? Its a whole system that runs the
computer from start to finish, and that is a very difficult thing to
acheive. A lot of people dont realise this.Microsoft just spent
$9 billion and many years to create Vista, so it does not sound
reasonable that some new alternative could just snap into existence
overnight like that. It would take billions of dollars and a massive
effort to achieve. IBM tried, and spent a huge amount of money
developing OS/2 but could never keep up with Windows. Apple tried to
create their own system for years, but finally gave up recently and
moved to Intel and Microsoft. Its just not possible that a
freeware like the Linux could be extended to the point where it runs
the entire computer fron start to finish, without using some of the
more critical parts of windows. Not possible.I think you need to re-examine your assumptions.

That's my thought. Everytime I've tried, my thumb started screaming at me: "Lose the mouse or I'm leaving!"
I seem to always come back to Microsoft mice... The big ones just fit my hand.

Status: The planning tool strikes again! Needed to print a color-coded chart. When in print mode, the planning tool strips the colors from the chart, but keeps the title blue. So the chart becomes utterly useless as there's not even any greyscale to differentiate, just black text on white background. But at least the title is in color, because who cares about trivial details like THE ACTUAL INFORMATION CONVEYED BY THE COLORS. Gah!

Dear Microsoft: Visual Studio is great, but sometimes I feel like it's a bit too fast. After getting to work in the morning I like to play a couple rounds of solitaire, catch up on my web comics and have a cup of coffee, but sometimes it finishes launching before I'm done with the coffee. Do you think you could add a few more features to make it slower?
-
@anonymous234 they've exhausted their stockpile of speed-up loops, unfortunately.
