I got briefly stuck in one once, was mildly supprised to find the call button actually works. It needed resetting or something similar, it wasn't quiteeee at the floor.
Hope you get rescued quick.

@Cursorkeys fecal salad. Did you craft that reference, or did you just happen to have an array right at f3ca15a1ad.
See, now you know, though. Although, that's technically not actually guaranteed to be the actual address, it just always is. Wouldn't have got that from
Arrays.toString()
.The default behavior? Well, the default behavior seems to make the assumption that arrays might be, y'know, large.

Status: Made myself a little space shuttle in Empyrion by tweaking one I found on the Steam Workshop.
No new pictures since it looks about the same, but my Winnebago has been upgraded. Now the hull is made of armor blocks, the standard steel blocks were so weak that I had to make like Sir Robin and bravely run away whenever an enemy drone looked angrily in my general direction. It also has a short-range warp drive now, which takes up almost the entire engineering compartment and is also apparently highly radioactive and will kill you if you stand in the same room.

If it returns "string representation" without any other rules or constraints on what this string should be, it might as well return something random.
return "[object Object]"; // determined by roll of a fair die

the -XcustomAddressingBitDepth=40 support
That wouldn't be enough to address all the physical memory in some of our servers…

@dkf Probly not. Word alignment issues aside it would max out on some laptops.
Edit, no. 36 bit would. Still no laptops with 16 times 16G around.

Status: Made Vegan chickpea curry with cauliflower rice for my brother and it was a rousing success. I'm quite surprised even though it was awesome. It's a lot harder cooking on Vegan, can't just jam half a stick of butter in to save a recipe.
Edit: Cauliflower 'rice' is some sort of sick joke. My kitchen is covered in cauliflower and the result is a brown thing. Tastes OK though.

@heterodox
Well, that's why you don't fiddle with the Protocols on the host's adapter, and let Hyper-V set it the way it needs it to be, and check the box "use this switch for management access to the host", silly!

Even blew away the adapter instance and recreated it to make sure there was nothing custom on it.

Status: Thanks Java, of course if I call
toString()
on an array I'd expect it just to use the baseObject.toString()
The whole idea of the base class for everything having a method that makes no sense for most objects is retarded. Of course, it's mostly for historical reasons, but they should've deprecated it and replaced with
interface ToString
or something.(go fmt yourself)
Same for
clone()
,equals()
andhashCode()
.equals()
andhashCode()
are implemented by Go's runtime, and they do some interesting things like generating random hashcodes.clone()
works exactly the same way asequals()
does when implemented by the runtime.

Almost a month ago I bought a super cheap (11€) PC case online.
Today, after two unanswered complaints, the package finally arrived. Well, a package from the same seller anyway, the product is not exactly what I ordered. Instead of a microATX PC case it contains a tiny 35W halogen lightbulb.

@Magus When I was playing around with Elite: Dangerous, I used an add-on called VoiceAttack or something that allowed me to issue commands via voice to control various functions on the ship. You can download voicepacks for this, since the system talks back to you. There's a store that has gotten MANY different sci-fi celebrities to do voice packs for them. John de Lancie did one. I loved the shit out of Q snarking back at me from my ship computer when I told him to initiate docking procedures :D

Status: Received an email with a $20 coupon for Guitar Center. Great, because I'm collecting parts for a new guitar, and hey the pickup I want is eligible and cheaper than Amazon!
Fake Edit: The GC website says the coupon is invalid.
Real Edit: Tried again in case the coupon needed some time to go live after it had been emailed out, and I got an actual error message this time. "This promotion does not apply to this product." Um, the product was listed in the coupon email...
Real Edit 2: The product listing in the coupon email is for a different promotion, not the one the email was about. And that other coupon code is only valid for orders >$100, and the guitar pickup is cheaper than that. If I was a higher-up in GC, I'd be slapping the marketing team pretty hard over this.
Real Edit 3: I guess I'll throw in a set of tuning machines to hit the $100 threshold on that other promotion, I'll need them for this project anyway. This promotion is listed as "20%" off, but it removed an even $20 instead, which was less than 20% of the total. I still come out a bit ahead vs Amazon Prime, but jeez, I think this whole promotion was put together by a drunk first-day intern.

I stay because it's a challenging environment, say something without being able to back it up and someone will call you on it. Good for keeping the ego down :)
And also because people have helped me privately when I needed it. Some really good people here, even if they do have strong views that may or may not align with mine.
