That's what they call it themselves. Didn't you know?

@Rhywden I know what the US Government calls it in all official communications.

Yes, like India and Hindustan. Doesn't mean one of them gets used.

I'll remind you of that the next time someone here writes of Germany (instead of Deutschland), Munich (instead of München) or Saxonia (instead of Sachsen).

@Rhywden Or the United States instead of the Estados Unidos. Tip: We have more than one language in this world.

Yes, weird that. It's almost as if Hawai'i was part of a language...

I don't like working with wow addon code. From the change notes:
- UnitDebuff - dropped second parameter (nameSubtext). Also, no longer supports querying by spell name.
Like any normal person, I'd assume this means the second argument to the function should be skipped. But actually, after some digging, this means the second return value (out of 15) is no longer returned.
Not sure if I should hate lua or blizzard for that one though. Really though, 15 positional return values? Ever heard of objects?

@PleegWat Ahahahahahaha. Do the other values keep their ordinals, or shift?

Actually, countries usually don't get an article, compound names (like the USA or UK) are the exception.

https://www.lua.org/pil/5.1.html
A constructor also collects all results from a call, without any adjustments:
a = {foo0()} -- a = {} (an empty table) a = {foo1()} -- a = {'a'} a = {foo2()} -- a = {'a', 'b'}
But you probably knew that already ;)

They moved, which is why my weakaura scriptlet broke.

Of course they did. Why would anyone want anything else?

Nah, I wouldn't feel bad; you showed them (by rhetorical question) a more effective way to do their job. Now that they've figured it out, they get time savings going forward.
Also: All of you language pedants, shut the hell up, my God.

@Rhywden ah, I see you summarily ignored my question.

Because it's boring.
-
@Rhywden Because you'd give an answer inconsistent with your previous statements.
-
@pie_flavor Reread what you just posted. You're proposing you have a predictive model and that it will what. Predict or fail to predict? Then was the response consistent with the model or not?
Or, do you claim to have two models going here?

@Tsaukpaetra I'd argue that argument is what this site is for. About tech, though.

The site overall, maybe. But not the Status Thread, but the News Thread, etc.

Doesn't hurt, which is why I didn't notice it for... three days?
But audio sensitivity is definitely reduced to about 15% in that ear...

the kind of damage that can be done is not worth trying to do it solo...
-
@Tsaukpaetra
IME, when the wax buildup gets bad enough to cause noticeable auditory degradation, it won't all come loose with one treatment. I've had a couple times where I had to get effectively prescription ear-drops, and a couple times where OTC wax softeners worked, but in each case it's basically "treat, leave in ear for ~5-10 minutes, flush, wait 4 hours, repeat" and can take 3+ treatments to loosen things up.

If you have a neighbor and some beer, you could pay the neighbor to do it, in beer.

Just don't pay in advance.

I'd fear just how much beer it would take. (Except with my neighbours; none of them drink much for various reasons.)

0/10, Markov harder.

Status: Well, the summer class has concluded, with absolutely zero of the work I was supposed to be doing getting turned in. Blame the administrators. Aaand I got a B. For one paper, one blog post, and one two minute play, for three credits. You know? I don't think I'm going to argue with that.

I haven't seen so much Jeffing for ages ... the mods must be exhausted by now ... we won't get anything done on the forum for months while they recuperate

(Ok, ok, that'd be UNlife, but it counts! Zombies are people too!)

@pie_flavor It's not Markov, it was yet another case of "not among the quick-recognized set". Now you need to reread both posts. Behavior can't be both consistent and inconsistent with the same predictive model.

It'd be more ironic if it was @Gąska talking about it, because his name looks like gasket.
