So my dad might be dying.
Lumps on the liver that look cancerous, lump in his throat and possibly more in his lungs. Coughing up blood and what sounds like bad jaundice.
That's really crap, I'm sorry to hear that. Best of luck to him to fight it, screw cancer.
-
Status: Similar problem to @Jaloopa. My grandfather has been steadily dodging the scythe for a while now, but he's stopped swallowing and will likely die of starvation in the next week until he starts again. In the meantime he has difficulty breathing and cannot speak, and the worst part is his brain isn't affected at all so he knows exactly what's happening to him.
-
@tsaukpaetra Oh I get that every day. I love working with Visual Studio (minimum 2 instances), slack, teams, postman, and node.
-
Status: Every time my computer reboots, and sometimes at random, IT turns off my Windows Defender Firewall service, disabling my ability to deploy to local service fabric and run most powershell commands. They also screw up all of the windows store packages on my machine, such that I have to run this to get them back:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
And it works. But I hate IT here.
-
@pie_flavor ooh, that's a hell of a thing to go through. Can't he be fed via tube or something?
-
@jaloopa Not without moving him to a hospital, and he doesn't want to die in a hospital.

Attempting to track down a truly bizzarre issue with the database communicator.
Apparently, when you're in async mode and you execute a query, sometimes it hasn't finished yet and you have to repeatedly call the query to see if it's done. Fine. I guess this also applies to calling
SQLFetch
andSQLGetData
? No fucking clue. But since I have no fucking clue, and it's happening, and the code doesn't know what to do (because I don't know what to do, and the MSDN docs aren't very clear on this), Bad Things happen, eventually resulting in
[HY010] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Function sequence error
, and from then on nothing fucking works with that connection.Hrm...

@tsaukpaetra and you're using

?Ah, no, the await thing was for Master Server, this is in the Game Server (Or, more technically correct, the UE4 Editor is the one having issues).

Towing: $170
Parts: $200
Labor: $375

Lyft for 3 days: ~$30Probably more than the 17 year old pile of junk is worth, but still cheaper than replacing it.

A car in my parking lot has had one of these attached to the back of it for at least the past week:
Kept looking at it and thinking, "Someone's going to drive by and hit that."
Yeah, me, as it turns out. Was walking to my apartment late at night and fucking BASHED my knee into it, since it was near invisible and I didn't realize that was the car I was behind.
Anyone who has one of those and doesn't fold it up (or doesn't remove it when they're done, if it can't be folded up)… fuck you. Just, fuck you. I'm in so much pain right now. Fucking cocksuckers.

I have to take my tow hitch out when I'm not using it, else my truck is too long to fit in my garage. On the rare occasion it's parked outside and the hitch is still installed, I always manage to shin myself on it. It makes no sense. I could be nineteen miles away from the truck, in the different state, and still somehow shin myself on that damn hitch.

Some co-workers put the World Cup on the office TV.

The classic failure is forgetting about the (loaded) roof rack. My father did that once - we had just bought a new bicycle for my grandmother and were transporting it home.
We heard a nice loud "crunch" when my father drove into our carport.

Status: My IT-Team at my school recently had a look at what we'd like to do in order to upgrade our infrastructure (i.e. new software solution I talked about, about 100 new PCs, other assorted stuff). We then created a priority list because usually only a random percentage of stuff is approved.
The total proposal amounted to 365,000€.Today we got word that everything on our proposal was approved.
We should've asked for more ;)

No, just makes sure you request the same amount next year, with 8 percent increase to demonstrate your continuing need for that budget.

You don't need to actually demonstrate the need, just say that you need it.

Well, some of those guys on the approval committee actually have a clue, though, so I'm pretty sure that won't fly

Status: Been grinding through our documentation, dealing with silly little issues (such as using “udp” instead of “UDP”) and chasing down why it was producing warnings (mix of cow-orker dyslexia and Sphinx being fucking retarded and finicky). All of which would be OK, except that I can't use a simple global search and replace as each place needs to be reviewed to see if it is actually an issue or if it is referring to an unfortunately-named software package, or if it was just an outright typo.
I'm so bored of all this crap. :(

But then they wouldn't know what that default underneath it is. The complaint is that they don't know if an overriding property is actually overriding the displayed data.
Background info: This is for products information editing, for example a product that gives the player a Spray Can with specific data that makes it a Red Spray Can overrides the name to read Red Spray Can, and overrides the IsUnique value to True. They want to be able to tell if that IsUnique value was set in the product data itself, or the Spray Can base item.

Ah, I see... Maybe how Visual Studio shows options in Project Settings? Modified items are bold.

It's already bold. And we're not using Visual Studio's idea of property management, this is a web app.
