I'm thinking of using log4net.
On second thought, maybe this might not be such a good idea. I like the idea of hierarchical logging, but it all seems class-name based, and I want to define loggers dynamically (with exception to the main log and maybe a few sub-logs).
Hmm....

Status: Just got out of the probation meeting. I learned one very important thing: the courseload limit for probation is not 12 units plus EDCO, it's 12 units including EDCO. And that calculus and CS classes are almost never approved for probation students. I left the meeting with all fifteen units, including those classes, and am apparently the first person to get even one of those three things in a few years. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth:
I also learned that apparently SJSU offers Beer Appreciation and Wine Appreciation classes (in response to a question 'who would even take underwater basket weaving when they're on probation'). The more you know.

Methinks I should have used a toss-away VM instead...

Google failed to turn up any apparently-relevant expansion of that initialism within the first 5 pages, which is as far as I bothered looking.
I thought I found one that was relevant to

Ugh, yeah, when it says "feel free to keep working while we scan your device." ? Total lie. Defender is taking up minimum 90% of my CPU at priority and is lagging the system so hard I'm finding it hard to type in text boxes.
-
@hardwaregeek Edco is a class you have to take if you're both on probation and undeclared. Full title is 'Career Exploration' and it's basically study skills + how to get a job.
-
@pie_flavor said in The Official Status Thread:

How not to flunk out, and what to do if you flunk out anyway.
-
@hardwaregeek Yes, exactly. There's a reason that undeclared probation = must take and that it's recommended to all probation students.

A lot of universities and community colleges have those, as does pretty much every 'adult education' institution such as the New School in NYC. It's usually not an academic credit course at universities, though (it may or may not be at a community college, but if it is, you probably won't be able to transfer the credits to a 4-year school later on).
I took a wine making class at CSU-East Bay as a for-credit course, which did include wine appreciation, but that wasn't the focus of the course. It was an interdiscipline course for the Chem and Bio departments, taught by a chem professor.
The Bachelor's programs in enology and zumurgy and at UC Merced and UC Davis? Something completely different. Those are for if you mean to become a professional vintner or brewer, heavy on both science and business management courses.

I knew a fellow Chem lab worker at community college that transferred to Davis to do exactly that.

@heterodox I think the problem must be on your end; nobody else is reporting similar problems. I'm certainly not seeing them. It looks like your IE has forgotten how to HTML.

I think it's forgotten how to JavaScript. Also, I figured other users might not have reported it because they're not using IE.

Status: So, FighterZ has controller issues. We couldn't get a local game to have two players, because if there's an XBone pad, it becomes player 1 and keyboard cannot also exist, and my new pad hasn't arrived yet, so we only had one.
-
@magus Wonder if it'll have such an issue with an XBONE controller alongside a Steam controller...
-
@e4tmyl33t Dunno. It didn't detect my buffalo classic snes usb whatevers, and my Switch Pro controller was out of juice apparently, so we couldn't test it.
I ordered the xbox variant of the Hori Fighting Commander partly so I don't have to use a bad dpad, and partly because it has XInput, so when I get home I'll try that out. Not expecting any issues.

I need to acquire myself one or two of those now that I have that console. Also maybe a fanciful colored JoyCon pair.

I did that once i found out that they have chargable joycon-controller things.
-
@magus Oh yeah, the things that are like the controller-mount-thing that comes with the Switch but actually has a battery in it so it can charge the JoyCons itself? Looked at those as well...
This damn console is probably going to end up costing me at least as much as a PS4/XBONE just in accessories...
-
@e4tmyl33t That's all I bought for it. Well, and the case and an SD card. But I figure 4 joycons, one chargable controller-mount, and one pro controller will be plenty.

Found that myself. Doesn't happen on this computer, but it did on one I was using during the meeting. A cache issue is not quite correct; it'll initially load that way, then fix itself on a refresh. Also happened on Chrome.

Yes, stuff from that long ago was imported from Community Server, then imported to Discourse, then imported to NodeBB. I believe problems occurred from that first import that weren't exactly right and thus here we are.

@sockpuppet7 It's just especially weird here, because if you removed NYC, Chicago, and... I dunno, maybe LA from the country, every statistic suddenly looks really good.
Don't forget Baltimore and Detroit.
"If you just remove the entire population, then we look pretty good."
In the case of Detroit, those who could already removed themselves.
Seriously, last I heard something like a third the neighborhoods in the city had been completely abandoned, except by a few squatters. I don't know if this was ever really true, or if it was true at one point and no longer is, but that was the way it was presented a few years ago.
