Status: Well, it's not changing the application to do the sorting and batching (though, given the volume of data, there's at least a reasonable argument for doing it in SQL instead of sending the data), but at least I've gotten this table from 20+ second load times when you scroll to the end of the currently loaded batch to loading so fast the only way you know you're Infiniscrolling is that the scroll bar just jumped.

I'm positive this will get shot down.
I'd make one level of "sprint"... double tap to run, once more to sprint. Add a "sprint" energy level which is depleted while you're sprinting, and recharges while you're not (slowly while you're running at a normal speed, but progressively faster if you're walking or standing still). Make it so you need at least 1 sec worth of sprint energy in order to start sprinting, and of course if you're sprinting and run out of energy you'll drop back to normal running speed.

Seriously, it's not hard to do :P
I find that there are two types, mainly.
- Press Clock, enter time.
- Press Clock, enter time, press Clock again.
The former will be stuck waiting for you to enter a new time (and thus, not keeping time) if you press Clock again after entering the time, and the latter will be stuck waiting for you to finish entering it if you don't (or, might eventually time out and cancel the whole operation). Therein lies the problem.
-
@anotherusername Mine is something like
- press clock
- twist dial between 12 and 24 hour
- press clock
- twist to set hour
- press clock
- twist to set minutes
- press clock to finalise
You can tell the difference because the colon flashes when it's keeping time

@raceprouk I too own no dedicated time-keeping devices. Timers? Sure. Devices that tell time in addition to other, non-time-related functions? Absolutely. Pure clocks? Nope.
-
@jaloopa said in The Official Status Thread:

And that's the thing. On some microwaves, it flashes while it's keeping time... on others, it doesn't. On some, it flashes while you're setting the time... on others, it doesn't.
You can make some educated guesses, but if all you saw was it flashing
12:00
, it's kind of hard to tell if the:
is going to flash normally while it's keeping time.

because i could.
i also have a 24 hour clockface that rotates counterclockwise and has no numbers on the face. but i consider that more an art piece than a timepiece, particularly since the face itself is the pendulum so the hands and the false pendulum stay rock steady while the clock face ticks side to side between them. Drove a contractor barmy when they were over redoing the cabinets.

This is for the advanced "locomotion" movement mode for our VR experience. Changing the player's movement speeds without their input is currently a no-no, so much so that we currently disabled the "motorized" bikes we used to have as a "rideable" mode of transport.

Basically, the microwave time thing can work four different ways. You go through the whole process, and now the time that you entered is:
- Wrong, because you waited to see if it's keeping time, and it isn't. Cancel it and go back to the start and try again. (Alternately, if this is attempt 5 and you're just sick of it, hit the button to confirm it and just live with it being a minute or two slow.)
- Cleared out, because you waited to see if it's keeping time and it got tired of waiting for you to confirm it. Go back to the start and try again.
- Cleared out, because it had already accepted the time and you pushed the button to set it again like a ninny. You're already back to the start; try again.
- Accepted and correct. Hurray! You did it. Now is probably a good time to go out and buy a lotto ticket -- unless you think that luck can be used up, in which case, buddy, you used it.

I have the second. However, there's a bit more between the 2 Clocks
- Reset clock to 12:00
- Twist dial to proper time. There's only 12 hours (no 24h, no am/pm).
- Done
Oh, you messed up and need to tweak the time by 5 minutes? Well start over at 12:00. DST sucks.

Ha! I like that interpretation. "We require privileged accounts to have simple passwords so if you get hit by a bus your successor can probably guess them. That's called a continuity of operations plan."
I'm guessing it's actually a minimum password age requirement (it may be set to 24 hours so users don't rapidly change passwords to evade the history requirement), so I'll try again later.
If it still doesn't work at that point, I'll know the AD domain has become self-aware and is now trolling admins.

Obviously the (non published) password rules are precise.
- Must have 1 digit
- Must have 8 or more different letters
- Must have 4 special characters, but not
<

,&
,'

@heterodox said in The Official Status Thread:
or history requirements of your domain.
Is the real problem - you're trying to change your password too soon after the last time it was changed. If your admin reset it for you and there's a 24 hour minimum password age, YOU can't change it for 24 hours (the admin could, but that kind of defeats the purpose). If the admin sets your account to "user must change password on next login", that overrides the minimum password age requirement -- minimum age is only checked if you're voluntarily changing your password.

I rear ended a guy once. Minor bumper scratches on a car worth all of several hundred dollars. Whatever. My truck was improved by the incident.
Called my insurance company, filled them in, told them to just pay him when he called. They waited. And waited. And waited.
No contact from the other guy.
So it does happen.

Yeah, but did you offer your insurance information first or did they ask for it? This lady asked for it first.
In any case, I know it happens; I got rear ended once and didn't submit a claim, mainly because I had friends waiting for me having just gotten out of a theatre production, and I knew calling the MPD would delay me by an hour or more.
That guy was very, very lucky because he was driving without a license (it was "at home", supposedly) and his passenger was drunk out of his mind; needless to say, if I thought the driver was drunk as well, I would have called regardless, but he could have been.

@heterodox We exchanged information and he was ADAMANT that he was going to file a claim. Cops around here literally DO NOT do accidents without injuries or blocked traffic.

Interesting. Guess you just got lucky. ;) If I were going to file a claim, I would have called MPD; worst they can say is they're not going to file a police report, but while most police departments around here don't do much on private property if there are no injuries, this was in a public roadway. Cops can help as far as assessing fault since they see the accident/damages before everyone goes their separate ways.

This doesn't happen there either. If the client fails a checksum during the connection to the server, the message is "client out of date". Even if said client is actually using newer code or was built later.
It's really fun accidentally connecting to prod servers with dev clients...
