@Luhmann 1 yard is roughly 1 meter.
Unless it's @boomzilla's yard, in which case it's 0 kids.
Easy conversion.

@hungrier I used to do that with my grocery store card. Finally just said fuckit. Not worth the time. That's not how I shop. I go for a couple specific things plus browsing/impulse. Going online first to browse for "impulse" items - yeah. no. So I'll just get whatever the default discounts are...
-
status I'm now 2 timezones to the east. Still woke up at my normal time. Figured out the coffee machine. Life is good.
(The company "rents" apartments in the building across the street - so for less than the cost of a hotel room, I get a full 1 bedroom apartment. And can walk to the office. Niiiiiccce...)

I had some things in mind, and this store's loyalty program usually suggests things based on what you've bought before. I wanted to check if I could get extra bonus pointzzzz on what I was going to buy anyway.

STATUS I feel I'm getting more and more cynical. Our CEO said this today in a sales pitch.
"The line between product management, user experience, and engineering, that line blurs a lot if you're building a product the right way"
I heard "we're not going to hire people to do all these jobs right so I expect you to do all three and god help you if you don't do it perfectly"

Of course, I normally wouldn't go that way, but... some idiot had to headon a fuel truck on the highway and get every good way into the city shut down.

Hmmm. AP logs are spamming this:

Unfortunately the internet isn't too helpful what that means.

@Tsaukpaetra The only way it could have been much worse is if it had been smaller compressed gas tanks (e.g., acetylene for welding). Those make quite impressive rockets, but the actual safe range is on the order of a mile or two. Have a crazy Russian dashcam video!

May 20 00:52:14 EAP300V2 user.warn kernel: eth0: received packet with own address as source address
Wat. Tell me what the address was, moronic kernel!
-
@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

It was the configured address of eth0. It told you, clear as day. You really shouldn't be receiving packets with that as the source address, you should be either receiving them with that as the destination or sending them with that as the source. Shenanigans detected. Knock the network connection to the outside world physically offline for a while and see if that stops it; if not, the hack source is local and worth tracking down.
-
@Tsaukpaetra
Generally, getting that sort of warning means you have a bridge loop somewhere in your network (someone plugged a switch into itself, usually by plugging their desk phone into two different ports in the wall because if one works two is better!)

@dkf said in The Official Status Thread:

Pretty sure that cop was the first one on scene - it exploded in a matter of minutes from what I can tell.
They eventually closed the entire freeway for like 3 miles both ways...

Yeah. It's probably also what's preventing wifi devices from getting connected.
But...
Nobody's been messing with the wires for a while now, so... ?
Unless something decided to bridge itself on one port (in software) somehow. But then the nightmares get more scary.
Just in case, I'm going to reboot ALL THE THINGS tonight just before the nightly ops begin.

But that doesn't necessarily say eth0 was the one the packet "belonged" to. It could just be reporting that for some reason a packet was transmitted through the network that has the same source and destination address... Or that someone is mac spoofing maybe? Who knows.
I'm not a network engineer.

We have no carpet in our house. I replaced it all with hardwood and tile. Now that I realize my kids will grow up without learning this trick I feel like a bad parent.
The dogs are probably thankful though.
