The first Christopher Reeve Superman movie did too, sort of. Well, it had two actresses who played Lois.

I was talking to a colleague who supports users in High Energy Physics earlier, and he told me of an interesting WTF. He had a user who was having problems joining a Virtual Organization (a grouping of users who share resources to work on a common problem) because their Mac kept failing. Cue much frustration and cursing out “stupid non-working closed source software” by my colleague.
It turns out that that wasn't actually the problem though. Instead, it was some weird anti-virus system that was insisting on MITM-ing all HTTPS collections and which broke the client-authenticated HTTPS connections that the VO system used in order to coordinate membership. So yes, some software installed to try to make things “safer” was actually just making everything break.

Random thought: Whoever decided to continue naming "The BFG" movie that, really should have just renamed it , especially when you're showing the trailer to people seeing Independence Day.
Because my mind auto-completed that to Big Fucking Giant
Or maybe it was one of those pre-movie in theater ads that was showing it off.

It does for me, but it's ranked #4 in a search for "Steam". Probably because it's still brand-new and the search indexer hasn't figured out this is the official one yet.
I wonder if I can use it to do Steam IM without doing the authenticator thing.

Status: Have I mentioned lately how much I love Vagrant? Way better for experiments than fucking up my own machine. I can just blow away the VM and start fresh whenever I fuck up this whole Docker thing
Here's what I don't get.
What's the advantage of vagrant over just installing everything manually (without the fiddly scripting) and then backing up the hdd? Once you want to reset, bring back the vanilla drive. Or just use the vm snapshotting feature.
I just never got what vagrant brings to the table.

I hate mobile. It's actually fairly consistently letting me post this morning (so far), but reading is a real pain. Almost every attempt to load /, /unread, or any topic crashes Safari, and I can't scroll past the first chunk of topics in / or /unread.

Advantage over backups should be pretty obvious: not screwing up the laptop I use for work from day to day. I've got a few different things on my laptop that are partly installed or installed badly or otherwise screwed up, it's nice to be able to start over with a clean slate.
Advantage over VM snapshots is just documentation. When I have a working system, I know exactly what I did to get there: it's in my vagrantfile.

I don't understand. You backup the vm hard drive (guest), not the host laptop. As in, make a copy of the vdi file. Once you want to start over, start from the backed up copy.

Thats a fair point.
Imo it still doesn't change the fact you can't really install and configure everything through scripting, even on linux. At least not a desktop environment, which is my usual vm use case.

Ah, it sounded like you were saying to install on my bare metal laptop and rely on backups if I get into hot water. So really they both boil down to case 2, where I just like vagrant because it makes me document what I did :D
I'm setting up a selenium grid environment using docker today, and since this is a proof of concept, I did it all using Vagrant. Once I've proved my concept our middleware team can do what they please with it, because they'll have the documentation of what I did.
