But the new card will have that fancy microchip we were talking about in that other thread a few weeks ago. So whee I guess. It didn't mention RFID or tap-to-pay, so I assume it's the chip where you have to slide the card into the reader.
Doesn't really matter. In my experience, 90% of the stores don't support chips yet. Most have the hardware, but not the software. (One store told me "it's coming soon". But they didn't know when.)

You'd think they'd have a "oh BTW this is a brand-spanking new device" flag they could use to make the first-run experience better. Leave the 30-minute updates for when I've owned it for a few weeks and happy with the thing.
Still, it's only a minor complaint because Amazon is generally REALLY GODDAMNED GOOD at shit like this. My 2nd gen Kindle is possibly the best personal electronic device I've ever owned.

, it actually restricts your option based on your location or location setting? I only get day-month-year and year-month-day options, no month-day-year options at all.
Having looked at it, it would appear that your location doesn't have any impact at all. You have to find the language packs and make sure you have the correct one set as default. The real is that it correctly detected I am in the UK, set my regionalisation settings to the UK and then proceeded to use the US language pack (which I didn't notice as it is somewhat unobvious) which only gave me US date formats.

My 2nd gen Kindle is possibly the best personal electronic device I've ever owned.
Because... it's a device that doesn't try to be the end-all answer to everything you might possibly want to do?
Let me see if I have anything like that I can say about my stuff...My cup is possibly the best personal liquid storage implement I've ever owned. I love my cup.

Status: wondering why "Special Instructions" is given only a single line. Obviously it was a problem, as enough people kept putting Special Instructions in the Comments box that they added a Special Note about Special Instructions.
Not to mention Table/ Index Dependencies, which also has only one line (Maybe they wanted it comma-separated?).

Status: Please tell me there is an easier way to turn on a VPN connection in Win10 than having to open the VPN
metromodern app? That's how I do it. Click the network icon on the tray, it opens a popup, click on VPN connection. Click connect. Type GoogleAuth token. Done. (except the damn thing doesn't put focus in the damn edit box and I do a search with the token - yeah, works as well as you'd expect.)
(edit - I was missing the popup step - I know on wifi connections, I get the connect button right there)

Turn off wifi before you do so.
My family does this with my kindle unlimited
Works with the library too since those auto-return at the end of the checkout period (3 weeks at my library)

Status: So I have been writing this sort of visual novel/choose your own adventure game engine for a friend in my spare time, and got the bright idea to do it as a Universal Windows app, Yesterday, I decided that it might be fun to see if all their promises were true and it would just work on WP, so I decided to try starting the emulator...
pssst....

That happened to me too. And I don't give out my gmail acct to anyone. Hmm - except AlaskaAir when I just flew...

I called iRobot support and to their credit they sent me a 100% free extra battery, hoping it was a battery issue, but that didn't fix the problem, and now the warranty's out. Oh well.
I realize you may or may not want to, but could you buy a new charger?
-
Edit edit: they made-up space by using the World's Shortest Micro-USB Cable.
Awful, isn't it? Fortunately cables are cheap.
now it's "optimizing system storage and applications"!
IIRC it's JITting every application on the device[1]. Plus, neither the CPU nor the system flash are terribly fast. Fortunately you only have to go through that when you do an OS update, in the future.
[1] or something similar, like odexing it or something.

I realize you may or may not want to, but could you buy a new charger?
Not without buying a new Braava. Like almost all Li-Ion devices, the charging circuit is in the product, it's not some swappable component.

Ah. I thought there was a cradle or something, and the circuit was in there.

Don't worry. We'll fix that by switching to a different Markdown engine in the next release.

Voting is one, the fact you don't automatically have a permanent right to live/work there but are somewhat tolerated for doing so. Tax is also complicated.
Fun fact: The Irish have all the same rights as an Englishman in the UK so If I had a NIS I could have voted ukip!I'm not in this boat myself, I'm a UK national but royal_poet isn't.

Seems obvious to me: making a dictionary.Though why they're not using

Though why they're not using Dictionary<String, String> or NameValueCollection

Though why they're not using Dictionary<String, String> or NameValueCollection is TR
They're using Java instead of C#. Determining if that's TRWTF would require a lot more information, as it depends on lots of info not described to us…
-
That would explain it in part (C# and Java would look identical for that snippet posted), though I'm fairly sure Java has some sort of Dictionary class...

It does. The API is called
Map
and the implementations are things likeHashMap
andTreeMap
…

IIRC Java calls it a HashMap or something.

I've never actually thought about it but now that I have dictionary makes more sense. In other news the rest of you people are beyond vile. Did you not notice the horrendous white space problem. This is a solved problem. Stop unsolveing it.
In better news our IT guy is complaining about someone watching 720p60 youtube videos on the company vpn slowing it down for everyone.

I've never actually thought about it but now that I have dictionary makes more sense.
But if Java did that, we'd get a blakeyrant about how Java's dictionaries translate (one might even say that they map them) arbitrary types to arbitrary types instead of words to definitions.

While conveniently ignoring how C#'s
Dictionary
does exactly that ;)
