Why is this so difficult?!
I haven't worked with this in several years, but IIRC the real problem was finding a good tutorial, and once you did, the coding wasn't really hard at all. It took me a lot of effort to find those good tutorials, though.

What the fuck? That was a lot longer than six seconds.

Status: Rise of the Tomb Raider is a talky-ass game. Cutscene-y. It's like playing a Japanese game. I think they meant to make a movie and accidentally ended up with a video game.

System upgrade is complete. Restart required To finish the upgrade, a restart is required. If you select 'y' the system will be restarted. Continue [yN]

Can't be worse than Metal Gear Solid IV. That one really took the crown on cutscenes.

Rise of Tomb Raider has some awesome gameplay/story separation issues too:
Lara: "Wow I've entered an ancient tomb that nobody's seen in 2500 years!"
<Finds box of Russian ammo, nuts and bolts>

I think this Nathan Drake guy had similar discoveries :)

Lara looks better in leather pants.
Hm. Rise of the Tomb Raider just locked-up my Xbone. Never seen that before. BF4 would crash occasionally, but the Xbone OS caught it and took me to the dashboard. Hope there's not a hardware problem...

Restart required
Bullshit! Linux doesn't make you reboot. Are you sure you didn't accidentally install an old version of Windows?
-
You're presuming Ubuntu is less retarded than Windows.
You're also presuming the older version of Ubuntu is new enough to have ksplice.

What we have here, son, is a failure to get the joke.

Do we for that?

It's true.

Status: a little over 12 hours to go until Awesome Games Done Quick. A little miffed that they're still allocating more than an hour on Saturday afternoon (the last day, and one of only two weekend days that they have in the marathon, so prime real estate) to TASBlock. But I guess it must be either really popular or a valuable gap in the schedule for them, or they wouldn't do it every single time. I guess it gives me time to go get dinner while Pokemon Plays Twitch, or whatever hijinks they have set up this year.

Took a PTO day. Have absolutely, gloriously, nothing at all to do. Haven't even checked work email
We were given the entire week off. I haven't looked at work email since the 23rd. And won't until Mon. Finally got the DVR cleared.

If that is declared inside a class, it has an entirely different meaning.

There were no classes declared in the header file.

maybe they thought they were in a class?

Thank you, thank you for this prestigious award!
I'd like to thank my family, my friends, the glorious people here at The Daily WTF and especially those folks that thought it was worthy of a whoosh!
It's not the world's greatest award acceptance speech, but this isn't the Oscars and I didn't have time to prepare!
-
Well, you could have gone for the more classic "Yip! Bark! Kyon!"
But otherwise, reasonable execution on the acceptance speech.

Yes but unlike Skyrim, at least they remembered to put some stuff underwater in Fallout 4. Exploring underwater was the best part of Morrowind.

They don't; it's just @ben_lubar watching it over and over again.
-
-
Yeah - @royal_poet got more likes! No fair!
-
so many people seek out Dwarf Fortress videos on YouTube
Maybe they're all people from here, wanting to see if you'd blow up?
people search for Everquest II videos
EQII is still a going concern, isn't it? If not there's people running unofficial servers or something, so people actually still play it.
-
Why would people run unofficial servers when they could just use the official ones?

Status While looking for some Whiteboard software I stumbled across Promethean who seem to be an alternative to SMART Whiteboards. They seem to be a bit more uptodate on the software side and way ahead on the collaborative features.
I mean, SMART still relies on Flash for interactivity, the Geogebra plugin seems to need a supercomputer (my I5@3.4 GHz managed only 1 fps) and the collaborative tools?
Well, pupils can vote on something, type in simple sentences or upload a picture.
Whereas Promethean has a whole suite with tasks, a BYOD policy and classroom management.
So, anybody have some experience with those guys?
