I don't recall you doing so, so feel free to do so again if appropriate.

Status: It's so nice when they rearrange APIs and get rid of the cruft.
Where before this old-fashioned
WriteableBitmap bm.SaveAsPNG(...)
was totally too complicated, we now only have to do a simpleWriteableBitmap wb = value as WriteableBitmap; Stream stream = wb.PixelBuffer.AsStream(); byte[] pixels = new byte[(uint)stream.Length]; stream.Read(pixels, 0, pixels.Length); using (var writeStream = new InMemoryRandomAccessStream()) { var encoder = await BitmapEncoder.CreateAsync(BitmapEncoder.PngEncoderId, writeStream); encoder.SetPixelData( BitmapPixelFormat.Bgra8, BitmapAlphaMode.Premultiplied, (uint)wb.PixelWidth, (uint)wb.PixelHeight, 96, 96, pixels); await encoder.FlushAsync(); writeStream.Seek(0); byte[] ob = new byte[writeStream.Size]; dr = new Windows.Storage.Streams.DataReader(writeStream); await dr.LoadAsync((uint)writeStream.Size);
and we're done! So easy!
-
await encoder.FlushAsync();
"do something non-blocking and wait for it to finish"
WTF is this shit?

I had to do something like this a little while ago because there was no non-async method available....

Status: I MISTIMED MY DINNER!
The mashed potatos are just WAITING until the meat gets done, it'll take another 10 minutes and that's to say nothing about the gravy.
I hate it when I mistime dinner. Stupid quick-cooking potatos.

Documentation says there's a direct non-async method, oddly enough called Create.

Meh. Close the lid on the pot, the potatoes will stay warm. A pile of starch and fat is really good at holding it's heat.
It'd suck more if the meat was done before everything else. No real good way of holding or reheating meat that doesn't impact the taste and texture.
If the gravy gets done early, put it in a thermos. Will keep it hot, and prevent it from solidifying or growing a skin.
Also: eat some veggies for happy

That's what the potatos are, dumbshit. (It's only 10:23.)

Contrary to the "facts" put forth by school boards in the pocket of Big French Fry, potatoes are not veggies. They are a starch.

French fries might not be veggies, but french fries with ketchup are.

Ketchup == veggie... yeah... that's a whole other bribe-laced mouthful of bullshit.

Status: Finally had a look at the BluRay I received through Amazon's Movie Renting Service yesterday.
I had already wondered why the printing on the disc was in French but, hey, multiple audio tracks and all that - the sleeve was German, though.
Only that the sole audio option my player presented to me was... French. No English, Spanish or German. Nope.
Also, the page where you can report problems with the discs? Does not have an option akin to: "Disc does not contain any language I understand well enough to enjoy the movie."

STATUS: Adam Sandler's Hobbler is on TV, so I am passive watching it.
Our protagonist disguises himself into his own customer, breaks into the guy's apartment and pervs on his naked girlfriend. The only thing preventing the outright rape isn't any sort of moral consideration or realization, but the technical limits of his disguise.
That's on top of all the petty crimes and other pervy shit he does.
This "comedy" is the most unselfconsciously creepy film I've seen.

Well whatever. The end effect is that I end up never talking to any of you people on Steam because I don't know who you are and it's not like I keep a personal database or anything.
I didn't say people didn't have reasons for it, I'm just saying if you're on my Steam friends list an I don't know who you are, there's really no point to being on the list. The only ones I really IM are Ben L because I know who he is and HardwareGeek because he just joined Steam a week ago and I haven't forgotten his username yet. But I'm sure it'll be slipped out of my brain by next week.

I should add you on Steam sometime, I am at least nice enough to use the same username mostly everywhere...

I use my Steam username in most places, too.

Feel free. I accept all friend invites who aren't obviously spammers.
EDIT: and to be clear, I don't care if people use different names on different services. As long as they don't expect me to somehow remember who the hell they are.

Status: Fixing some C++ code that has a bunch of functions declared
static
in a bunch of header files.It can be useful to define
static inline
functions in a header file. The semantics are slightly different than when defining macros, which makes the definition easier to read. It doesn't make sense if they're not going to get inlined though, as you just end up with lots of copies of the same function in compiled code.Maybe these were originally defined inline, but that got dropped at some point "Because you should never tell the compiler to inline/it knows better/compiler doesn't look at the directive anyway"?

he just joined Steam a week ago
Not quite accurate. I joined Steam about 6 months ago, but I just got the ability to send friend requests a week ago, because I finally bought a game directly from them rather than receiving them as gifts or redeeming codes people here didn't want.
-
-
So you where leeching Steam?
I suppose Steam would consider it that. But I've been unemployed longer than I've been a member of Steam, and I've been very strict with myself about not spending real money on unnecessary stuff of all sorts, including games. I only bought games a week ago because my son gave me a Steam gift card for Christmas.
-
Make sure you go through your "discovery queue" even if you're not planning on buying anything. You can get up to 3 trading cards per day, which can be sold for Steam money.
-
Wow that song is some real "Girl in the Tower" bullshit isn't it? It's like "Girl in the Tower" by Enya.
Except much better.
But still.

The ending cutscene is literally like 5 seconds long.
Also, the bonus concept brings up the possibility of literally murdering Tim, but alas it is not possible to do so.
Fucking Tim.
