I think I'm the only one who liked the movie version of V for Vendetta.
I thought it was OK.

It got a little silly at the end when they gave him "public opinion inspired superpowers" or whatever the hell was going on. But.
Also Evey forgives him PRETTY DAMNED QUICK for literally keeping her jailed for like two weeks or whatever. But the flashback told during the jailing is really good, so.

Why do you assume they're TCP/IP ports?
People on this forum ASSSSSSume shit all the time, bugs me.

How do you know they're assuming? Or people?

The upper bound seems to suggest so. Also, knowing the poster and looking at the code seems to be JavaScript. Uses
let
, meaning ES6. Given that the browser support for ES6 sucks genitalia it's most likely Node.js code. So, yes.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying it's an unwarranted assumption. At least spell-out the assumption you're making before you call someone's code buggy.

WELL, SHERLOCK, WHAT IF I TOLD YOU you're right, it's TCP crap in node.
How do you know they're assuming? Or people?
Also assumed it was my code. Also, that it was code at all, and wasn't a cool artistic drawing done in Paint. ALSO THAT I HAVEN'T BEEN A MUTANT TALKING DOG ALL ALONG.

Can I PEN test your server pls?

Why not just listen on port 0 and then ask the listener what port it's on?

I think I'm the only one who liked the movie version of V for Vendetta. It seems to have completely disappeared from all public consciousness.
I liked it. But there will always be an asshat who will pipe in with "Um, actually-- graphic novel-- Hollywood".
They're easy enough to take care of. All you have to do is say you don't read comic books, and they'll have an aneurysm.

Status: I had a nightmare that my computer was from an era when monitors were smaller than the case the guts of the computer are in and that I had installed malware on Windows 3.1 (despite never having actually used Windows 3.1) that somehow still worked when the computer was upgraded to Windows 10, despite the fact that a computer that came with Windows 3.1 probably couldn't run Windows 10 if it tried.

No warning on
port == 65536
? Because I doubt that one will be taken.

I got into a facebook comment flamewar about some college literature class that was reading graphic novels. People were indignant that I didn't recognize the obvious value and diversity of literature out there. Fuck if I'll pay for classes like that when my kids are in college.

I remember that there was some college course somewhere where the required reading included Portal.

Early 2013 is not long after I first played Portal. I always had a previous generation console growing up, until I started catching up in the PS2 era

TIP:
If you're running debian:
sudo apt-get install netcat-openbsd
It's way superior to the "factory" version.

We're flying root, baby. Straight to the moon!
That only allows you to open the port. It doesn't change the fact that all those ports are earmarked for other services.

OMG I can get an NVidia Shield for only $150!!!!!
I joke but it couldn't be worse than the Vita.
EDIT: Oh wait, WTF? I thought the Shield was a portable gaming thingy, but it's just a TV box? I already have a Roku, and it didn't cost $150.

Shield was a portable gaming thingy
It was supposed to be, but that hasn't really taken off yet. It's mostly used for the Steam In Home Streaming thing I guess....
-
Still better than Dwarf Fortress.
That is not a high bar. Root Canal Simulator would be more fun that Dwarf Fortress.

There are actually three. The Shield Portable, the Shield Tablet and, um, the Shield.
First is a PSP style thingie, middle should be obvious and the last one is the non-portable box.

Status: picked up Teriyaki for a late lunch. Guy at the teriyaki place gave me a great pedantic dickweed speech about how there's no such thing as "spicy" chicken teriyaki because if they use the spicy sauce, they're not using any teriyaki sauce. It's totally a different sauce guys!
If I hadn't already ordered, I'd have walked out.

If you work there then the fact that people don't know what teriyaki is could get annoying. Oh noes someone complained about an annoyance from their job to you.
