The Official Status Thread

Aww, who's an extra-cranky little ball of hate today? That's right, you are! Awwwww.
The more serious answer is "Because then I'd have to figure out how to reply in a different topic" and that would be surrender. Tell you what, you like a post some time and I'll figure out how that reply in different topic works. Sound good to you? (Psst, that was a rhetorical question).

Status: Dad's downloading an iOS update. I'm getting about 15000ms latency to Guild Wars 2. Checked router for something resembling a QoS option, but there doesn't seem to be one.

I'm not redoing the Norn's outfit, but here's how she looks:

Dungeon armor sets cost 1380 dungeon tokens. You get 60 for completing a dungeon path, and there are three paths that can each be done once a day. So that's a little over a week of grinding. Also, the Ascalon Performer set has an exposed belly button for no reason that looks even worse than the dodgeballs.
Do you know what a "Skinner box" is?

Status: I just got a jillion notifications for hot links.
Look, I love spicy sausages as much as anybody, but MORE bullshit notifications I have to ignore? Ugh.
Although now I'm kind of hungry for hot links.

Of course, you didn't write up an estimate with the boilerplate "customer is responsible for overages", so you've flushed over a day of effort away.
We aren't allowed to put that on our estimates due to how the overall contract all junk gets done under is written. While I've seen what you describe I did check and it is a string in normal HTML markup (that bit of page anyway).

How did you get my name on something @ben_lubar wrote?

It's... a post I made?
I quote replied you, it marked it as to locallunatic and then I replied to that with no quoting, and it put a reply to you with the original text. Fuckery happened.

I got into Guild Wars 2 because I had a lot of spare time and nothing to do. That's basically what MMORPGs are best at getting rid of. It's not like I'm paying anything to play it like I would be with WoW. I've spent a total of $70 on it over the two years I've played, including the base game, the expansion pack that comes out next month, and the 0 microtransactions I've done. That's probably less than a lot of games that would provide far less time wasting.

While true, it has basically replaced dwarf fortress in the "lots of talk you will get made fun of for" category.
-
As TDWTF's resident meme, that's not exactly a bad thing.
-
Yes but GW has more players here than DF did. It has at least two, me and Ben.
-
fox with a bra quoted a GW2 NPC when I posted a picture of Tequatl, so there are at least 3.

so success or failure?
Export terminated successfully without warnings. ================================================================ ExpOraData: Finished with failure (status = 1). ================================================================ ================================================================ Export Env: REDACTED ended with failure at 25-09-2015 10:18:46 ================================================================
-
This seems to mean "The last export got killed and restarted, but despite completing successfully the second time, this will mark the whole thing as a failure and then DELETE THE WHOLE EXPORT AFTERWARDS".
Why THE FUCK does it delete the export afterwards?
Why THE FUCK does it bother rerunning an export if it still classes it as a fail?Stupid vendor's stupid export tool.

Status: Fixed the weird config problems bedevilling the combination of my webapp, Tomcat and Eclipse so that I can actually run things successfully in debug mode. No idea what was wrong, but nuking a few of the stupider bits and starting over seems to have made the pain go away.

Maven interacts evilly with this as well. I'll use that when I'm doing production builds (as I've got rather a lot of non-trivial dependencies, and plentiful notes about how to set that all up for automatic goodness) but it's not what I want for just testing if my JSON serializer is hooked up right…

Status: Having to implement corporate bikeshedding for our marketing team in our email templates and change the background from one shade of grey to a very slightly different shade of grey.

does that involve the use of cameras to get an estimate of the ambient light to adapt the shade of grey appropriately?

Does this look even remotely like a 14b?

Hey here's an idea: put it in the "correct" topic in the FUCKING FIRST PLACE YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT then I would have never gotten notified.
You're the one having some kind of video game bullshit instead of updating status. Maybe he LEARNED IT FROM WATCHING YOU!

It works the same way the rest of Discourse works: sometimes well enough, sometimes not at all, but always with plenty of .

**Status:**strong text Was laying in bed procrastinating on getting up. My boss called saying "Corporate networking called. There's a service running on server xxxx that's sending you 12 emails a second and flattening the mailserver"
Our corporate mailserver is gmail. We are a Fortune 500 company with a zillion users who communicate exclusively via email (for lack of better collaboration tools). If 12 a second is enough extra load to flatten it, we're doomed.
Also, whoever the fuck thought email was a good way to communicate runtime warnings and errors was an asshole. Especially for applications that do thousands of dubious widgets per second.

It might be an intermediate that routes emails from your services to
gmailyour corporate mailserver. That's quite a common setup.

Helper syndrome is a serious psychological disorder. If you don't do anything about it soon, it can and will cause damage as well to you as to the ones you "help".

It's a new badge. These things run at night, and like other badges that link to posts, the time of the badge is the time of the post.

God helps those who helps themselves. I'm just trying to pick up some of the slack.

I was under the impression that "helping yourself" wasn't allowed
