The bad one was some kind of norse-named thing, some variant of valhalla or something. Another smash clone, except that there are items. Two kinds of bombs, and two weapons characters can equip. Everything about it is wrong.
-
What kind of BS are you talking about? This is NES Final Fantasy levels of battle system immersive, not SNES.

Well, at least I know that nobody likes Norn. Or maybe people are just offended by females with autumnal skin tones.

I never vote on anything. Ever.

You could take off the really fucking stupid mask and see how it goes.
In fact, I think people are voting against really fucking stupid masks than for characters. Because your charr is wearing a really fucking stupid mask, too.

**status:**strong text In order to make some headway into my book-pile at work, I have a long-standing ambition that every other book I read should be either from my work-pile or some other book outside of my usual comfort zone (which is difficult since I read pretty much everything -- I draw the line at Boris Palsternak, however).
Just finished "7 Days" by Deon Meyer (gave it four stars on Goodreads). Now starting "Lean-Agile Software Development" by A. Shalloway, G. Beaver, and J. Trott.

I'll put you down for Charr, then.
Because your charr is wearing a really fucking stupid mask, too.
Why the mask be a problem on the Charr but not on the Asura who is wearing the same mask skin with different stats?

Stopped watching here:
Didn't want to spend one hour of my life watching @blakeyrat in 8bit.
-
There's a second episode, too. With the classic line "I ONLY WANTED TO GO INTO SPACE"
-
I should know better than to do code reviews, and actually compare files. Apparently Visual Studio doesn't approve.
-
-
I early accessed again! Twice!
How's @blakeyrat supposed to get ideas for shitty video games to "play" if you won't SAY THE NAME OF THE GAME

Now I had an image of Jeff as a creepy doll walking around Internet and turning everyone into assholes that only ever visit SO.
Ugggh. Thanks for that.

No problem.

Where do you guys find all these bundles, anyway?
The quality ones are: https://www.humblebundle.com/
The cheap ones are:

No, really? That's why I wrote a custom error handler to return something more descriptive than that for ALL requests that have an error!
Garbage, the whole lot of it...

Here's the Charr's new outfit:
I'm not redoing the Norn's outfit, but here's how she looks:

I actually like having a place to see my bookmarked topics without having to go back to the home page. Go figure.

**Status:**strong text Just discovered our internal company wiki uses Markdown. However, the only thing it has in common with Discourse is list (mis)?numbering.

I didn't care enough at the time. It isn't even interesting enough to remember, but it was suggested on the store page of the good game I mentioned, which blakey would still probably dislike.
-
Ah, I've heard of--even got a few things through--Humble Bundle, but I don't think I'd heard of the others before.
-
Who makes armor out of dodgeballs?
The rest of it looks pretty dumb, too.
-
The reason I'm not redoing the Norn's outfit is because the alternatives suck more.
-
Almost half of those don't suck nearly as much. Hm. Why don't we have a yet?
-
Would those be the half where her breasts are hanging out? Sorry, but my Norn isn't into that sort of thing.
-
Is that an apple watch over its eye? Google Glass Doing It Wrong...
-
Would those be the half where her breasts are hanging out?
I didn't look closely at enough of those to notice is her breasts were hanging out on more, less than, approximately, or exactly half.
I would say Ascalonian Performer is an improvement, and no hanging titties.
-
She has arcade basketballs for breasts? The only thing missing is a Wilson logo.
-
Yes please. But FF6 is the minimum standard for compliance purposes. And this is basically never attained.

I cannot make sense of this sentence. Perhaps you meant "but" rather than "and".

Ascalonian Performer
Dungeon armor sets cost 1380 dungeon tokens. You get 60 for completing a dungeon path, and there are three paths that can each be done once a day. So that's a little over a week of grinding. Also, the Ascalon Performer set has an exposed belly button for no reason that looks even worse than the dodgeballs.
Let's put it to a poll.

Status: Trying to help fix a broken ass deploy that someone did off of partially missing instructions from off shore people (they are off on a national holiday today apparently). Have gotten lots of conflicting reports of what the deploy entailed ("I only deployed A and B" "then how are the new things C,D,E, and F working?" "I deployed those too").
Looks like the QA version was broke anyway so don't know just how much patching of this shit needs to happen. Do I have to fix things that were broke there and push to Prod or can I just say Prod now works like QA?

Status: Woken up way too early on my free day because the lights in the assembly hall won't come on.
Yesterday late-afternoon we did some testing of our DMX lighting equipment which, in addition to the moving lights and LED spots, can also control1) the overhead lights of the assembly hall. Naturally, you set those to "off" during a performance.
Turns out, that turning off the control console does not return the overhead lights to manual control via the usual switches.
1) Well, at least that's the idea. In reality, sometimes the motion detectors are not disabled which causes the lights to turn on which is not reflected on the control panel. So we have to "turn the lights on" and then turn them off again to actually turn them off. There are 6 rows of lights, 4 of them have an on/off setting, 4 of them have a dimmer setting. If you did your math you might have noticed that 4 is not 6. Ayup.
-
I cannot make sense of this sentence. Perhaps you meant "but" rather than "and".
In spite of the lack of titties, the dress itself is nicer than the other one. I realize you have to look really closely since there isn't the clue of hanging-out titties, but if you look long enough you'll see it's true.
-
Dungeon armor sets cost 1380 dungeon tokens.
, buddy. You didn't ask me to factor cost into the aesthetics.
-
turning off the control console does not return the overhead lights to manual control via the usual switches.
I am assuming the usual switches have a lock-out so the console overrides them during a performance. You probably have to explicitly re-enable the usual switches before turning off the console.
sometimes the motion detectors are not disabled
ISTM that motion detectors controlling the lights in a performance hall that you want to be dark during a performance (i.e., people are present and moving) would be a Bad Ideaβ’.

Change the instruction on a webpage "Has a [general category] or [specific thingy] been sold?" to "Has a [specific category] or [specific thingy] been sold?".
Now trying to explain to PM why changing a word in some static text on a webpage is less time than doing the estimate paperwork.
Quoting you on the before:
-
you discover it isn't static text
-
It isn't using a standard framework dynamic control, but custom-spun markup
-
You search all over looking for where #xttHasGeneralCategoryOrSpecificThingBeenSoldtxttag#
-
Find out that it is concatenation of multiple other tags, because the original programmer couldn't figure out how to do token replacement inside a string
-
Now you're looking for #xttHasGeneralCategoryOrSpecificThingBeenSoldtxttag1#, which is "Has a", and #xttHasGeneralCategoryOrSpecificThingBeenSoldtxttag2# which is "or", and #xttHasGeneralCategoryOrSpecificThingBeenSoldtxttag#, which is "been sold?"
-
Now hunt through the code finding the database logic that pulls up the values for [general category] and [specific thingy]. Realize it takes a querystring you didn't know you had access to. Find out you just discovered a sql injection attack and fix that.
-
Finally work your way into the stored procedure that pulls up [general category] and [specific thingy]. See the words "OPEN CURSOR".
-
Discover that rather than just returning a sane dataset, it returns
''' SELECT general_category_name , 0 as array_index FROM general_table WHERE {some massive bit of logic all on one line}
''' UNION
''' SELECT '', 1 as array_index // NOTE: used to select specific_thingy_id must be here or code will throw index error
''' UNION
''' SELECT specific_thingy_name, 2 as array_index FROM specific_table WHERE {some massive bit of logic all on one line} -
Attempt to change that into a single select with a sane join and unified WHERE, fail (or spend 4 hours)
-
Attempt to change general_category_name to specific_category_name, and fail because it turns out some piece of code explicitly looks for general...
-
finally just fucking alias as SELECT specific_category_name AS general_category_name
-
Your 15 minute "estimate" that you didn't scope out has now taken 8.5 hours and probably won't pass QA. Of course, you didn't write up an estimate with the boilerplate "customer is responsible for overages", so you've flushed over a day of effort away.
And if you think I'm exaggerating, ain't a goddamn one of you who won't back me up with personal experience on this one.

Status: SOMA's a whore. No matter what you do in the game you can't take Brandon Wan into the Ark.
Why not? No reason. When your done with his memory chip, the game just refuses to let you put it back in your inventory.
This game was designed by sadist assholes and it also forces the player to be a sadist asshole. Ugh.
Loving it, though.

So it didn't force you very hard, is what you're saying?
-
Think of it kind of like Spec Ops: The Line. Except worse, because in this game it forces you to make the asshole decision right then and there instead of revealing it later on, like Spec Ops does.
There's literally no reason your character in the game couldn't do the right thing, except the game literally doesn't allow it.

cough seems whooshy, so ο€ . Someone please Jeff this into the correct topic.

Hey you know what's better than stupid ass gamification bullshit? Telling me you're doing the stupid ass gamification bullshit instead of actually replying to my post!
Why even have a forum at all! Let's make every post about how many likes and flags you have! Make sure every bullshit content-less post sends a notification, how would I live not knowing that FrostCat the idiot hit the "flag" button!? I'd just die!

If only I asked someone to move my comment out of this topic to the correct one.
Oh, wait.

Hey here's an idea: put it in the "correct" topic in the FUCKING FIRST PLACE YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT then I would have never gotten notified. WHAT THE FUCK WAS PREVENTING YOU OTHER THAN YOUR OWN DEFECTIVE MUTANT BRAIN, YOU RETARD!?
Are you going to pretend you've been here all these months and you didn't know how Discourse notifications worked? Are you going to pretend you've been talking to me all this time, and didn't know I hated that gamification bullshit? Just play dumb? Is that the strategy? Goddamned.
You're not that fucking stupid, I know you're not that fucking stupid so don't pretend to be fucking stupid.
